I'd Like To Know Where The Riverboat Sails Tonight

Hi Y'all! I am back from the Kidlet and Starr roadtrip. We had an awesome time! The concert was kick ass as I have written. We got up Saturday morning and hit the mall from some Converse shopping therapy. Kidlet used her money to get liquid eyeliner from MAC and she is now a convert.

Then we sat through the hippy traffic (try going only 6 miles in one hour) but finally we were on our way. It was gorgeous out, 85 and sunny. We got to Florence and then drove up Hwy 101 to Newport and Depoe Bay. Our Bed and Breakfast was run by a guy who must be a chef, told us they had a price fix dinner 3 course with dessert that was French themed in honor of Bastille Day. 20 bucks a head! It was an awesome dinner. The dining room faced the Harbor and the bridge and we got to watch the fishing boats come in while we ate. Dinner was chilled zucchini and sorrel soup with creme fraiche and dill. A ragout of chanterelles and oysters in the a brandy creme garlic sauce. Main course was Prawns and Langoustine with veggies in a citrus tarragon sauce. Then came dessert. Oh my god people. I could have just had 4 or 5 of those. Ginger Creme Brulee with candied blueberries. It was so F'in good.

Got up yesterday and had our continental breakfast and took off to walk the boardwalk in Depoe Bay. Sunday was rainy and misty and around 64 degrees. Only in Oregon in July do you get that! We drove up to Lincoln City and went to watch a Glass Blowing display at a local artists. He was awesome and walked us through all the steps as he made a float and then an oil lamp. It was great. We decided to drive all the way to Cannon Beach to eat at the Mo's there. Had our chowder and shrimp cocktails and then headed for home.

All in all, a great trip. Now we have a week to get ready for our next trip to Ashland for the Shakespeare Fest.
