Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam

Ya know I honestly think Unplugged is my favorite Nirvana album. I love this song so much. It's just so pretty. While I think it's pretty well known Kurt could shriek with the best of them, he could also sing all pretty like. As Kurt points out it is a cover of a Vaselines song.

It is gray and cool here today and boy is that a nice change of pace. At work making up time from being sick this week. It's actually hot in my office. Go figure. Playing taxi for the Kidlet later and then going to my parents tomorrow with Kidlet and her BFF K to have dinner and watch Watchmen on the Blue Ray. And then back to work.

Keeping things on a grunge level, Pearl Jam has a new album and a new single. And its...PERKY. Seriously, Kidlet heard it last night on KNRK's Top 9 At 9 and was like "WTF?!?"

Eddie is obviously getting more weed and or bootie these days. Cause it is downright jumpy and fun. Yeah you heard that, Pearl Jam just put out a shiny happy FUN song.

Speaking of the Top 9 at 9, those of you who wonder where I hear of these new bands need look no further. The list of choices of you can vote on for your favorite new song is an AWESOME springboard to hearing new music. I thank them for Cage The Elephant and Carolina Liar.

And in the bestest music news of my week, MUSE IS BACK! Two new songs are out streaming and you can buy Uprising on iTunes.

Hopefully this one will be up on iTunes soon.

You Reel Me Out And Then You Cut The String

This is shaping up to be an acutal real snow storm. Like we might get 6 inches. It started much later than they thought, I had no snow at all until after 7am this morning. But it has been going steady since then. Windy though so it is mighty swirly.

I told RWA in my comments in the post below this one (sign of the times, Starr has multiple most for the same day!) that all this free time was kinda messing with me. So many entertainment options. Last night I watched Love Actually On Demand and then watched When Harry Met Sally on my computer via Netflix. Fucking movie made me cry. I have not watched it in over 10 years. Long back story, I might Death Starr it at some point. Suffice to say, I am trying to keep ahead of the curve with you, RWA.

Anyhow, I got a yen to watch Titanic. But I also have a yen to read Pride and Prejudice. Just about had a tiny baby shit attack cause my complete works of Jane Austin was not readily viewable on my book shelf. Had a moment of fear that Kidlet had it. *shudder*

This movie really needs to find a distributer. Cause I want to see it. I love quirky. I adore British movies. And we all know how I feel about Rob. (Sorry Johnny!) Although he is not playing for cute in this one. More like hapless dweeb. I am a sucker for hapless dweeb though.

How To Be Trailer from How To Be on Vimeo.

I also have Northanger Abbey to watch. And I haven't even checked out On Demand yet. We are getting an HBO Cinemax free weekend so I have even more choices.

All this plus I have to put the finishing touches on this weeks Thursday Thirteen where in I list you 13 of my favorite songs of 2008. Well ok so there are more than 13 songs, but there are only 13 artists. I refuse to play by the rules.

Oh and I have the RPattz messageboards to lurk and post on, email convo's going with Belle and RWA and the possibility of cookies.

Dad can't get the car out of their neighborhood, they are much higher elevation and at the bottom of a serious hill. Since there is no way in hell my arthritic ass can get chains on my car, I may be hiking down to the lightrail station tomorrow morning in the dark with my flashlight. Say hey!

Oh and speaking of emails, I got this one last night,

"just wanted to give you a big SHOUT OUT via email!

thanks so much for the response and for listening this year. i've loved your blog input!

i don't think we've met but i want you to know that your input keeps me going!

takes it to get me out of bed at 4am on a daily basis.

well...other than paying the light bill ;)

have a very happy holiday!

your pal on the radio,

greg"

Does YOUR local DJ give you props? No? You should totally upgrade. See not only does mine provide me with Youtube ideas for the McKenzie boys and Billy Squire (who does rock, fuck all you haters :P) but he send thanks! My DJ totally pwnz your DJ.

For really actually, I have said many times Greg is awesome and KNRK is awesome.

Now then. Decisions decisions! Oh shit, Chocolat is on at noon. Johnny is still more than welcome to get the squeak out of my door any day of the week ;)

For your listening pleasure, Radiohead with 15 Steps. I am groovin hardcore on this right now.

Man, I'm Dressin' Sharp An' Feelin' Dull

Greg Glover is the best DJ on the planet. It is snowing here in P Town and I have errands and child play date teen girl chauffering to do today. Got to work at 630 and generally feeling a bit chappy assed if you know what I mean.

Then 8am rolls around with the usual Friday 1980's themed 8 at 8. Todays year was 1989and with quotes from Heathers, Say Anything and some awesome songs, I am feeling MUCH better. Today we had offerings from Lou Reed - Dirty Blvd, Elvis Costello - Veronica, Pixies - Monkey Gone To Heaven, XTC - Mayor of Simpleton, Cult - Fire Woman, Smithereens - A Girl Like You, The Replacements - I'll Be You and topping it off with Tone Loc - Funky Cold Medina. THAT is what radio should be, my friends.

The 'Mats being one of my favorites I bring you I'll Be You. If The Clash was truly the Only Band That Really Mattered, The Replacements were the dark horse second place. Minneapolis gets a HUGE thank you for giving us Prince, Husker Du and The Replacements!

If it's a temporary lull
why'm I bored right outta my skull?
Man, I'm dressin' sharp an' feelin' dull

Lonely, I guess that's where I'm from
If I was from Canada
then I'd best be called lonesome
[BTW, I read in an interview that Paul was struck with how some people in
Canada used the word "lonesome" instead of "lonely," hence this lyric.]

And if it's just a game
Then I'll break down just in case
Oh yeah, we're runnin' in our last race

Well, I laughed half the way to Tokyo
I dreamt I was Surfer Joe
An' what that means, I don't know

A dream too tired to come true
Left a rebel without a clue
And I'm searching for somethin' to do

And if it's just a game
Then we'll hold hands just the same
So what, we're bleeding but we ain't cut

And I could purge my soul perhaps
For the imminent collapse
Oh yeah, I'll tell you what we could do
You be me for a while
I'll be you

A dream too tired to come true
Left a rebel without a clue
Won't you tell me what I should do?

And if it's just a lull
why'm I bored right outta my skull?
Oh yeah, keep me from feeling so dull

And if it's just a game
Then we'll break down just in case
Then again, I'll tell you what we could do
You be me for a while
You be me for a while
and I'll be you

All I Wanted Was A Pepsi, Just One Pepsi - TT 39

Ahhh, Institutionalized. Great Song. Kidlet saw Suicidal Tendencies in concert a few months back with her dad. I have been missing in action for a bit and have some catching up to do so I figured why not wrap it up with a big TT ribbon? So here we have 13 things about my last two weeks that I have either done or have been stuck on my brain. Random is GOOD!

1. Randy Jackson is on The Rag. Seriously, WTF Randy? The only person you were kind to was Rahme-whatever her name was and she SUCKED!

2. David Cook is the best reason to watch Idol. And people getting all pissed cause the judges called him original for his version of Billie Jean because Paula Simon and Randy are not aware it was the Chris Cornell version need to shut the fuck up. He was covering a cover not raping the Mona Lisa. Get over yourselves music snobs.

3. That mini rant brings me to #3 on my list, idiots who stage dive at concerts and don't even know the bands songs. The Presidents concert was awesome and I highly recommend their new album. Truckstop Butterfly and Sharpen Up Those Fangs are classic PUSA. That said, the venue was for all ages and they did a shitastic job of separating the booze area from the main area.

The place was over run with 20 somethings stage diving and crowd surfing and moshing...MOSHING...at a Presidents concert. Before the bands even started some 15 year old boy got all hopped up on Mountain Dew and spewed chunks a good 6 feet right in front of us. So very Linda Blair. Kid got nostril action as well, it was a pretty gnarly barf. Then the fuckers boo'd an opening performance art act, and then doing their sad little "I wish I was around when Punk was new" staging diving crowd surfing routine they managed to unplug the band's amps twice! Rudest Audience EVER. And I have been to metal shows! DIE FUCKING TWENTY SOMETHING DOUCHE BAGS.

I feel better now, thanks folks :P

#4 Went to a gem show on the Sunday the 16th with Kidlet and Mom. Mom is jeweler and we go every year to get deals on gems and pearls etc. Anyhow, on the way in I slipped and fell on a metal plate cover. Totally screwed up my shoulder. I couldn't move for three days. And that was ON tylenol 3. It sucked. That was the main reason I wasn't posting. It hurt =(

#5 Mom is gonna make me a gorgeous necklace! I bought a double row of briolet citrons and amethyst that mom is going to do up on gold filigree. Think chandelier necklace. Very vintage looking. Mom does awesome jewelry. Especially her pearls. I have pearls I'd have to sell a kidney for because of her. I need to help her set up a website to sell her stuff.

#6 SNOW? WTF? It is Spring Break and apparently the white stuff has been swirling around the metro area. That is ridiculous. This is Oregon and it is nearly April. Bah.

#7 So I have some plans for the summer percolating. Mom is taking kidlet on a car ride trip down the Oregon coast through the Redwoods. I am gonna fly into San Jose and then the three of us are gonna spend some days in San Fran and then drive up to visit some of our family in the Sacramento area. And I am hoping to find a way to swing seeing George Michael up in Seattle. I LOVE me some George. Check out Turnbaby today as she has a divine sample of Gorgeous George.

#8 Ok fair warning, this one is, well, odd. Every single day this week there has been someone in the bathroom at the office ....OBVIOUSLY making a deposit if you know what I mean....and they have been making "yummy noises!!" You know the sounds people make when they take a bit of something good? Add that to a lot of contented sighing and you get what I am talking about here. WHAT. THE. HELL. I am scared to take a leak at work because of this. What is going on in there? Is it contagious? Does it travel? Gah!

#9 I am totally grooving on the new songs from REM and B52. The B52's are playing here in May but I am trying to save up for the George Show since it is in Seattle. Both bands sound like their classic songs. REM in particular sounds like classic IRS years guitar driven REM. I loves me some REM.

**Updated for RWA's listening enjoyment. Behold the new REM song:

KNRK, my beloved radio station is running a contest to win the new REM album and have a chance to see REM at The Hollywood Bowl. I came SO close to winning one time on the when was their first European tour. I guessed 1984. Turns out it was like November of 83. Bah :P

#10 My Current Food Craving - Pasta. Been on a major lemon red pepper parsley spicy pasta kick. I am addicted to that stuff. Bless Giada for showing me that recipe.

#11 I am in dire need of Yankee Candle Citrus Sage votive candles. Last 3 times I have gone out to buy them, no love. They smell DIVINE. I want them and I can't find them. ARGH!

#12 When is Charlie Bartlett going to make it to a movie theater? I have been waiting for ages for it. I am crossing fingers that it will come to one of the independent theaters around here. Robert Downey Jr. is the shiz and the nitz. So glad he didn't bite it from the drugs.

#13 Speaking of he who play Julian, for whatever reason an old friend has been on my mind a lot lately. Last time I was obsessing on him like this, it turned out he was having a heart attack at a Dead Show. Sometimes having a strong mental link with someone sucks. So here is a shout out to the powers that be, play nice cause I am gonna be seriously upset if something is wrong with him.

It Ought To Be Easy Ought To Be Simple Enough

Happy Hallmark and Hershey Day!!

Sorry but Valentines days annoys me on many levels, the least of it being the manufactured sentiment part. On the plus side Greg Glover over at KNRK did one hell of an 8 @ 8 today and included my very most favorite evah Bruce Springsteen song. From my favorite album by the Boss no less. And the best part of it is while driving Miss Thang to school yesterday they did the lead in thing on the Adam Carolla show and used the start of the song, and then CUT IT! I hate that. So the fact that Greg played the whole thing was awesome. Lot of other great songs today. I Want Candy, Two Hearts Beat As One, Shoot That Poison Arrow, Lips Like Sugar, Love My Way, and the 'Mats Valentine. Plus Perfect Way by that freakishly 80's band Scritti Politti. The Valentine tie in being the album that song was on is entitled Cupid and Psyche.

That was the best part of Val Day for me. Oh and the knowledge that my darling daughter was racking up quite a nice profit in cookies at school. Her "business" of choice? Un-matchmaking. That is right for the mere price of a cookie, Kidlet will dump your SO for you. Complete with comforting pat on the back. Her dad and I are not sure if we are proud or horrified. Actually we are both proud in a sick kinda way but we have to play act at the horror part ya know?

I have sucked at both posting and visiting this week and for that I apologize to my peeps. I am back at work after a week off and this DAMN cough is lingering. Kidlet and I have been getting home and damn near crashing at 6. How Golden Girls is that?! I have emails out the wazoo (painful!) and I totally skipped out on both WW and TT. Just didn't have the pep and spent what little I had on Idol.

Anyhow I will try to make the rounds better this week and, like, post and shit. This is probably a rambling post and not at all anything to be proud of, but I finally had to throw in the towel and take hardcore cough syrup. I didn't take any last night and I coughed my ass off all day. Had a charity auction meeting this morning and had to do the reflection and nearly burst a blood vessel trying not to cough.

It was a tough meeting as is. We recently lost a co-worker and a committee friend to mesothelioma. While we knew Ed was ill and have known since last May or so, I don't think anyone thought he would go so fast. He was a tremendous person who truly lived our mission. We will be dedicating this years auction to his memory. So my reflection was about not sweating the small stuff and embracing life. Fortunately our Chairwoman brought chocolate for the Holiday so we have sugar therapy.

On that note I should also mention that my grandfather is not doing so hot. Or doing hot depending on how you want to look at it. He is tired of waiting and pretty much wants to be done with the business of living. I truly think he is horrified he didn't have the good grace to die within 6 months of my grandmother. So there will be a trip to Utah in my future fairly soon and on short notice. It has been nice hanging out with him and taking care of him though.

Gramps and I have always been buds. Although our last meaningful competition was about my "sporting life" aka my dating or lack there of. Something about it being called "sporting" cracks me the hell up. He has quit eating at this time though, and he was pretty out of it last Saturday. Kidlet and I will be over there Sunday providing we are not heading to Utah. Gramps has had a good life and while I will miss him and our discussions on my love life, I know he is ready. And he did me one last good turn, he got mom to make that skordalia for my birthday =)

Sigh...generally your frozen entree's cook faster if you turn the oven on. Lord have mercy. It has been that kinda day!

I Open My Mouth And Out Pops Something Spiteful

Yawn

So sleepy today and I have no reason for it. Today, or rather tonight, is Greek Food Festiva! Can't wait. The only downside to this is going to be the parking situation. Holy Trinity Greek church, where the festival takes place, is in a semi residential area with very little off street parking available. So every year is a trip trying to find a spot. I am hoping that because we are going Friday night rather than during the weekend day it won't be so bad. Cross fingers!

Ooh goodie, it is the Friday 8 at 8 on KNRK. Which means Big 80's time courtesy of Mr. Greg Glover. Who has excellent taste. So far we have Outfield'd, Depeche'd and Echo'd. Where is my black eyeliner?

YES! Squeeze - Black Coffee In Bed. What an awesome song.

I need more coffee. And a massage. I have the worlds nastiest neck spasm going. I wake up feeling ok but by noon I can not turn my head left. Perhaps I should try Ouzo therapy at the festival tonight. I had a mojito the other night at Ruby Tuesday that helped it a great deal.

I am pondering NOT WORKING tomorrow...spooky I know. My last day off was Sept 19th. When I was sick. But I have not done full days on the weekend. Last weekend I did 5 and 2.75 on Sat and Sunday. But the system is going to be down and I have to go return the charger I bought that does not work with Kidlet's phone.

Oh my goodness....Men at Work - Be Good Johnny. I admit it, I really dug Men at Work. I owned Business As Usual and Cargo. I actually liked Cargo the better of the two.

Raspberry Beret....why do I not own any Prince? I mean what is my damage? Mind you it is not that I have NEVER owned Prince. In fact I am looking at my vinyl of Purple Rain right now...but my CD's have all been stolen. Break ups do that ya know. I need to get 1999 and Purple Rain on CD foh sho.

My poor canna lily is finally trying to bloom. Our summer sucked too much ass for the poor thing to flower. I hate this state :P

Alrighty time to go kill some trees. I will be sure let you all know tomorrow what yummies I had tonight!

Ooohh! General Public. Tenderness. Such a lovely song! Thanks for the post title inspiration, Mr. DJ!

Lend Me A Quarter Won't You, I'll Call My Accountant

Isn't it fun to witness the selling out and/or metamorphoses to Old Fogiedom in a previously cool person? I always get a laugh out of it.

I was listening to the radio on the drive home from work last night. Not KNRK. Don't ask me why. Maybe they were playing She Wants Revenge.

I happened to come in on a convo between DJs on a Top 40 station. They were talking about a reporter calling up Marilyn Manson and asking what he thought of the Virginia Tech tragedy. Apparently MM answered, "They will probably blame me." Given Columbine and the very fact that a reporter felt compelled to call him and ask him this question in the first place, it is probably a reasonable assumption. Maybe not the most tactful answer, but a reasonable fear on his part.

What got me was the attitude of the female DJ, who btw, used to be on KNRK with Gustav in the AM years ago. She got all up in arms going off about how everything was not about him, and making fun of his real name, and basically coming off like every parody of the old fart looking down on "you young kids today!"

She is my age, people. She is witty and bright and likes comics. But apparently, due to her new radio stations more middle of the road demos, she has turned into an establishment idiot. Way to go! Kiss the ass of Middle America!

Silly twat.

Now mind you, I am not a hardcore MM fan. I think he ripped off the Goth subculture, Alice Cooper, and Type O Negative. Let's not even get started on the "Trent Reznor Issue". But he did all of this with flair and I like a good bit of his music. If you have ever heard him or read his autobiography, it becomes readily apparent that he is very very bright. And a marketing genius. He's kinda the dark scary Madonna of Industrial/Shock Rock. He is also a lightning rod for the blame when shit hits the fan.

The irony of Columbine is that those two mental dweebs didn't listen to Manson. They listened to The Prodigy though. MM got the shit slung at him, and The Prodigy got to sing "Smack My Bitch Up" in Charlie's Angels. And before the Ravers get angry, I happen to love Prodigy. I own The Fat of the Land

So go light up a glow stick and be happy.

Speaking of Trent Reznor, I read in the latest Rolling Stone that RIAA has come down on several website for copyright violations regarding his new album Year Zero. Apparently Trent's Label and RIAA missed out on the fact that Trent leaked the files HIMSELF. They even had to pay back some fines they had demanded and collected. Your tax dollars at work, people.

Ready to digress again? Hold your hats, here we go!

Watched Stranger Than Fiction last night after I picked up the kidlet. Not a bad movie. Not great one, but likable. Best part of it was when they played The Jam's "That's Entertainment" during a somewhat poignant part of it. Trust me, the irony was delightful. The downside is it pointed out that I dearly miss my Jam CD's and must replace them. The Sound of the Jam is a must own for those of you who are familiar with the band. I used to own it, but God only knows where it is now.

And now, off to work. Must make coffee. The office smells like a sock today. Bleh :P

Bridging The Distance

This here is a PLUG. A Shameless Product Pimping Plug. But it's a good one and for a good cause, so no crap from the peanut gallery.

Bridging the Distance is a fun, eclectic and quirky compilation CD featuring local artist from right here in Latte Land aka Portland, OR covering songs they consider classic. The CD was the pet project of one of my two most favorite DJ's ever, Mr. Greg Glover from 947 KNRK our truly awesome radio. The CD benefits a P:ear, a local non-profit that helps homeless youth. Here is a wee snippet of the interview with Greg from our local alternative weekly Willamette Week:

When asked if he has a favorite song on Bridging the Distance, local radio personality (94.7-FM KNRK) and Arena Rock founder Greg Glover says, "Are you kidding? That's like asking a parent which child is their favorite." Considering he's choosing between songs like the Minders' cover of E.L.O.'s "Don't Bring Me Down" and the Thermals' take on Led Zeppelin's "Tangerine," it's not hard to empathize.

Greg has played several cuts from the album this week during his morning show. The mix of songs and artist is just awesome. Alan Parsons and The Cult? "Sister Christian" and "Dancing in the Dark?" This is just too good to pass up, people. I had one of my best Monday mornings (!) ever this week. Imagine air guitaring the intro to "Eye in the Sky" for your kid while in the car waiting for school to start. Sure, the other parents stared, but I am positive therapy will heal her. This is what radio SHOULD bring to your lives!

You can get the rest of the interview at Willamette Week here.

You can get the album here or on Amazon.com here :Bridging the Distance

I am pretty sure the donation will make it's way where it should via Amazon. I know it will at Arena as that is Greg's own label. Amazon enables you to listen to snippets of the songs though. Check out the Dandy Warhols version of The Cult's "She Sells Sanctuary". It's like Erasure redid the music and Jesus and Mary Chain did the vocals. Or Love and Rockets did the whole thing :P

You can hear The Snuggles Ups version of "Dancing In The Dark" here.

Another shameless plug for KNRK 94.7 FM. YOU lucky bastards can stream it. Or visit their super website. I can not thanks to corporate dickery. My other most favoritest DJ, Gustav, lives there too. Go listen. These people really don't suck. Gen X, I am talking to you. Get off your slacker asses.

Lively Up Yourself

Welcome to the pineapple express. It is POURING rain here. I nearly swamped out my car twice going to pick up Kidlet today. Terrible standing water. However, it is warm. Very warm. 65 degrees in November is unheard of here. We usually suffer from the end of October until April. In a good year.

I didn't work this weekend. I have really gotta start getting my ass in here. Of course I still have over 200 hours of overtime for the year. Last year I had over 500. Sick eh? I am getting old and burned out though. And when the programs are constantly broken why bother? I've been in this position for nearly 5 years and it gets old having shit for tools to work with. Bleh.

Sunday I went up to Camas and hung out with H. Just had snacky foods and coffee and shot the shit for a bit. It was pouring yesterday as well, but the drive was pretty easy. Even with being sleepy. I ended up being up and watching TV Saturday night until after 2am. I vacuumed at midnight. Mind you I didn't realize it was midnight. My neighbors must hate me. Sunday morning MamaSan woke me up at 8 calling to see if I wanted to go out to breakfast. So much for sleeping in. I have Kidlet from Tuesday the 7th all the way until Sunday the 19th. Mom is keeping her overnight on Saturday the 11th so they can go get her hair cut. I might go up to Camas again, or I might just chill at home.

This Friday is the hypnosis appointment for the smoking. Sure hope that works, cause the patches and the lozenges do not work. Or rather they work, they just give me hives and mouth ulcers, respectively. If I end up barking like a dog at weird moments or clucking like a chicken I am gonna be pissed off. Mom is going to pick up child and take her to Ham Dinner that night and then bring me back at take out plate from that. Talk about the test from Hell on that hypnosis working. A School Function. I loathe functions.

Kidlet and I need to begin birthday discussions here soon. She is pondering a music birthday present theme. As in, "Mom! Give me 100 bucks to spend at Amazon!"

I am so down with that. It adds to my cd collection as well. The kid has excellent taste for a near 12 year old. I know that several Cure cd's and REM cd's are on the list. And I think she wants another Sisters cd as well. This works very well for me :P

Hey...I got the episiotomy. Not like I am taking advantage here!

H and I tried playing with her template on beta blogger and it did not go so hot. All my blogrolling stuffies transferred nicely, but they were pre-existing. Adding it new to the beta templates is NOT happening.

Speaking of templates, I am starting to ponder paying for one for my blog. It would have to be in Feb as b-day present to myself. Pondering.

Eek. My radio station just made a fubar. They have these mini comment breaks where they talk about a specific year. They list an event that happened and then follow it with what was on the radio. So the year was 1981. The Niners did indeed win the Super Bowl. And "Pretty In Pink" was indeed released in 1981. However they played the fucked up perky version from the John Hughes movie. Which came out in 1986. Tsk Tsk, my fellow Gen X'ers at the station blew that!

*edit* Just got an email back from Gustav ( who is the shiznitz, btw) about that Furs song! And I quote,

"K,

Haha, I've been waiting for months and months for someone to finally point that out. You're the first to notice (or at least, to bother saying anything about it).

It's one of those "judgement call" things I guess. "Down In It" from Nine Inch Nails was released as a single in November of '89, yet "Pretty Hate Machine" the album didn't come out until early 1990. Yet, on that one, we still use 1990 as the "year" ID. Conversely, I'll bet that if we used 1986 as the year on the Pretty in Pink track, someone would probably tell us that we were wrong and that it originally came out in 1981!

At any rate, I'm glad you spotted it.

Gustav"

I love my radio station. They are so interactive. And they play the most kick ass music on the planet.

Alrighty. Back to work. At least the traffic will die down by the time I get out of here.

Irony Should Be A Four Letter Word

Reference previous post. Then reference "The Grand Facade" post. Which references an earlier post via a link.

I turn on my web radio to KNRK (which you should immediately visit and sign up to listen to online) and what are they playing?

Radio Free Brainwaves

Talk about your coincidences. See that post two down from this? With the Sin reference? That is from a song by Electronic. Not one of your more commonly heard songs even on my beloved KNRK for all that the band is comprised two of the Gods of that era/genres.

And guess what they just decided to play? That song! Which is Get The Message for any of you wondering.

I admit, I am a serious, hardcore Electronica, BritPop, Madchester ho.

I'll See You Again When The Stars Fall From The Sky

Loooooooooong week. Ended up not going out on Sunday. Had a migraine from hell during the night and had to get kiddo to find my meds for me. Sunday night she got sick so I was out of the office on Monday. Back at it yesterday, but I was too beat to blog. Sounds like a punk song.

So far it looks like I might make my deadline this month. That would be a first for the month of July. Like ever. Closest I have come is 92%. Grouchy co-worker day but hey, it's not like I am gonna give a shit about it on my death bed so I ain't gonna sweat it now.

Kiddobean is begging me to take her to see Rocky at a theater in Tacoma. Only theater here is a McBeers that is 21 and over only. I could road trip for Rocky. Hells yes I could. Been ages since I have seen it a theater. So that might just have to happen sometime soon.

Found a hella funny article on the The 25 Biggest Wussies in Rock on the blender site courtesy of my favorite radio station KNRK and I admit I howled with laughter over it. Not only does it have some scary info on Chris Martin, but it includes another choice comment on a musical genre from Mr Elvis Costello. Look for it at #1. Of course Robert Smith of The Cure is on the list. He was 25...almost squeeked out of it, Robert! Big hug from one histrionic white kid to another!

Final tangent of the night. Remember I said I was gonna ponder posting on the Dead Like Me boards? Well I did. Came up with a new nickname and had my say. As for the ex, hey if he figures it out and doesn't like it, tough titties. I am staying off the Firefly boards just for him.

The Only Baggage You Can Bring Is All That You Can't Leave Behind

Underrated album, that. It took a bit for some of what would be "side b" on good old vinyl to grow on me, but now I dig pretty much the entire album. Except New York..that one still...ehh.

Oohhhh....KNRK decide to start playing "I Will Follow" right as I am babbling U2 stuff. Gustav (#1 DJ, period) is the man.

Found another picture that just kills me.

Chris Martian.
I swear...He skips like a friggin girl.

I do love "Clocks" though. But it ain't enough to make Coldplay the next U2. Radiohead is the next U2 if anyone is.

HAH! Ok...remember my earlier comments about the radio hating me cause it seems to read my mind on music? Well the Big G is now spinning....Coldplay.

"Let's Talk ...let's taaaaalk."

Apparently he argues like a girl too :P

Ohh...god, had to add. Poor McClown

Born of Frustration

Song of the day...well moment atleast. Greg on 94.7 played that rather than the obligatory James song, Laid. Mind you, I love Laid...but it is good to hear something else for a change o pace. That is me being lazy since I actually have the cd with that song on it. I was just to lazy to dig it out.

Speaking of CD's....what is with the pathetic amount of space they give us on our profiles to list music?!!? Are they on crack? My god...I could use the entire page just to list the artists who's cd's I own, let alone what I like. Gimme more space, dammit!

Alright...personality enhancer aka coffee, is needed. I leave you with these lyrics courtesy of James

All this frustration
I can't meet all my desires
Strange conversation
Self control has just expired
All an illusion
Only in my head you don't exist
Who are you foolin'
Don't need a shrink or an exorcist
Lalalala
lalalala
lalalala
la
Wooooowooooowoooowooo
Show me the movie of who you are and where you're from
Born of frustration
Caught upon the webs you spun
Where's their confusion
A vision of what life is like
Show the movie that doesn't deal in black and white
Talk talk talkin 'bout who's to blame
But all that counts in how to change
Stop stop talkin 'bout who's to blame
When all that counts in how to change
Lalalala
lalalala
lalalala
la
All this frustration
All this frustration
Who put round eyes on a butterfly's wings
All this frustration
All this frustration
Who gave the leopard spots and taught the birds to sing
Born of frustration
Born of frustration
Wooooowooooowoooowooo
Wooooowooooowoooowooo
I'm living in the weeds where nothing is the way it seems
Where no one is who they need to be
Where nothing seems that real to me
'Bout time we filled our lives
Upon the walls of gold no solid ground
The world is spinnin' endlessly
We're clinging to our own beliefs
Born of frustration
Born of frustration
