Hello Hello Hello. How Low?

Today was the suck. And that's all I have to say about that. Moving on...I have been tagged by Kyra over at The 108th and by Missy Frou Frou. More bizarre shit about moi incoming :P

First up from Miss Frou is the Wiki Birthday Meme!

Here are the rules: You go to Wikipedia and type in your birthday (only month & day). Then you write down 3 events, 2 births, 1 holiday, and then you tag 5 friends.

February 8th

3 Events

421 - Constantius III becomes Co-Emperor of The Western Roman Empire

1587 - Mary Queen of Scots was executed at suspicion of having been involved in the Babington Plot to murder her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I of England.

1855 - The Devil's Footprints mysteriously appear in Southern Devon.

2 Births

Lana Turner
James Dean

1 Holiday

Nirvana Day

Tags for both of these following the next meme!

There are five slots in the meme list.... as you are tagged, you have to remove the name in the first slot and bump everyone up so that your name can be added to the bottom.

Then answer these questions!

1.What were you doing 10 years ago?

-10 years ago I had a daughter who was just over 2 and in that horrifying "can I send it back" phase that no one tells you about. Terrible two's my ass. It started towards the end of two and went on to 3. I was just changing jobs from one department to another at Kaiser and was just beginning the fun roller coaster ride of health problems that I deal with to this day. Oh also, ex husband beginning to be a bit distant. It was fuckin fun. Yeah.

2.What were you doing 1 year ago?

Pretty much the same as I am right now. It's not a fun day for me for personal reasons and I tend to be pissy. Today is no exception and it is not looking like it is getting better. Let's go visit last year on this day shall we?

3. Five snacks you enjoy:

1. Cereal and soy milk
2. New York Cheddar Kettle Chips
3. White cheddar popcorn
4. Apples
5. Yogurt and blueberries sweetened with grapenuts. Odd, I know.

4. Five songs to which you know all the lyrics:

1. Rocky Raccoon - The Beatles
2. The Entire Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack (fuh duh)
3. Son of a Preacher Man - Dusty Springfield
4. Any U2 song ever recorded
5. Strange Fruit - Billie Holiday

5. Five things you would do if you were a millionaire:

1. College and/or bail for Kidlet's future.

2. Travel. Spend as much time in the south until as possible until such
time as I could move permanently.

3. Pay off my bills and set up an annuity to live off of.

4. Quit my job and work for an NGO for free. Offer to sharpen pencils at
One.org if need be.

5. Set up family member and the ex husband so we are all flying in comfort.
No sense being greedy!

6. Five bad habits:

1. Intentionally shocking vanilla types with outrageous behavior. Sue me. It
makes me giggle.

2. Cursing - but I do it well.

3. Drinking outrageous amounts of coffee. That was Kyra's answer. It is mine
as well. Coinkydink? You be the judge!

4. Procrastination. Um yeah.

5. Giving people way too many fucking chances.

7. Five things you like doing:

1. Writing
2. Reading
3. Driving with the Kidlet in the car with tunes blasting
4. Going to the airport
5. Going to book and record stores

8. Five things you would never wear again:

1. Gitano anything
2. Bell Bottoms
3. A wedding dress
4. Pretty much my entire wardrobe circa 1985
5. Regular nylons. Thigh highs rock.

9. Five favorite toys:

1. Anything that requires batteries
2. Online Solitaire
3. Trivial Pursuit
4. My Laptop
5. The ex boyfriend variety. What can I say, he was fun.

Gitchi Gitchi Ya Ya Da Da

Ola people! I feel better. Ish. Still have the darting head pain that threatens migraine but it is better. Working all weekend so it better be better cause it has no choice. Quickie post as it is the second to last day of the month aka deadline time for me at the office. I have been tagged by 108th and Miss Frou Frou and those MeMe will be coming at you later tonight. In the mean time, useless shit for j00!

Attention Fellow Aquarians. We are supposed to learn how to say "No."

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!

Aquarius (Jan 20 - Feb 18)

Your subconscious mind may be telling you something you really need to know, but it's easier not to listen. If you doubt yourself now, you may try to convince others of your worth by driving yourself too hard, only to end up overcommitted and overextended. There is a lot happening all around you and you must create healthy boundaries. Start by trusting your instincts, especially if you need to say "no."

How To Dismantle The Ridiculous Length Of An Album Title

***Scroll Down for Thursday Thirteenage***

Never let it be said that U2 fans don't have a sense of humor! This site link comes to you courtesy of the Kidlet and the use of U2 is courtesy of your's truly. Here is a tiny preview for you. I am falling off the couch looking up random shit on that site.

“Eheheheheh, that dude's name is "Boner." Heheheheh, BOIIIING!”
~ Beavis on Bono

“These guys are from England and who gives a shit?!”
~ Casey Kasem on U2

Bono Vox: Dake's Mouthpiece (Electron scanning microscope)You Two is the sequel to U and was formerly known as U-Boat, Feedback, U-Lalalalaaa, Goo-ratch-a-loogie, Hype, U3, U4, U-seless, The Letter U and the Numeral Two, Bono and those other guys, and Ireland Is Our Marketing Niche. At one stage, rumours abounded that they may also have been founding members of Baccara, the people responsible for the classic opera, "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie". The makers of the U series have now confirmed there will be no U5, but they will start filming U6 when they can be bothered.

Thursday Thirteen #19 - You Are A Handsome Devil. What's Your Name?

Grosse Pointe Blank kicks so much ass. Trying to think of a few memorable lines from it becomes damn nearly silly. The entire movie is filled with classic lines. Which, in addition to the fact that it has John Cusack, ranks it in my top movies, evah. In fact it makes the desert island 10 movies you would have to have list quite handily.

So for today's Thursday Thirteen here are just 13 of my favorite quotes and/or series of lines from the movie. But remember, kids. John Cusack is dangerous and exposure to John should not be taken lightly!

Debi - So what's your business?
Martin - Professional Killer.
Debi - Do you get dental with that?

Debi - Hey, I know everybody's coming back to take stock of their lives. You know what I say? Leave your livestock alone. Kick back and relax, and ponder this: Where are all the good men dead- in the heart or in the head?

Debi - If you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you...it's, well, broken.

[the Ultimart has just been blown up]
Martin Blank - Are you all right?
Ultimart Carl - No, I'm not all right!
Martin Blank - Take it easy.
Ultimart Carl - I'm hurt... I'm pissed... gotta find a new job!

Martin Blank [on the phone with his psychiatrist]
Dr. Oatman, please pick up, pick up. It's Martin Blank. I, I'm standing where my, uh living room was and it's not here because my house is gone and it's and Ultimart! You can never go home again Oatman...but I guess you can shop there.

[Talking to Marcella over the phone after shooting someone]
Martin - Don't tease me, you know what I do for a living.

Martin - Why are you so interested in me going to my high school reunion?
Marcella - I just find it amusing that you came from somewhere.

Dr. Oatman - You didn't tell me what you did for a living for *four* sessions. *Then* you told me. And I said, "I don't want to work with you any more." And yet, you come back each week at the same time. That's a difficulty for me. On top of that, if you have committed a crime or you're thinking about committing a crime, I have to tell the authorities.
Martin Blank - I know the law, okay? But I don't want to be withholding; I'm very serious about this process.
[pause]
Martin Blank - And I know where you live.

Debi - You're a fucking *psycho*.
Martin - Don't rush to judgment on something like that until all the facts are in.

Martin -I just honestly don't know what I have in common with those people anymore. I mean, or with anyone, really. I mean, they all have husbands and wives and children and houses and dogs and, you know, they've all made themselves a part of something and they can talk about what they do, and what am I going to say? "I killed the president of Paraguay with a fork... How have you been?"

Martin - (arguing over egg white omelets with his waitress)
Well I don't want to get into a semantic argument I just want the protein.

Grocer - Boudro's comin for ya!

Grocer - Bing Bang Boom....POPCORN!

Wordless Wednesday #20 - National HIV Testing Day

Scream If You Want It, Cause I Want It More

Well Mister Migraine has been reduced to more of a dull roar at this point. I have those funky darts of pain that say, "Hey I am still here!" so I decided a day on the couch without small child and with the right medication was called for. Of course it is gorgeous out today. The people of Oregon can thank me for that as it will turn to shit again tomorrow when I feel better :p

I do need to go to the store, dammit. I did not have it in me to do that on the way home yesterday. Must get Diet Coke.

In other fun headache inducing drama, my net connection has been fuxored all day. Drops me constantly. C'est la Vie.

Watching Little Children. Good movie but jebus, so NOT perky. Interesting take on the whole vigilante mentality. Kate Winslet is amazing as usual. Easy to see why she was nominated. The only thing I find odd about is that somehow we are supposed to think of her as less than pretty. Which is ridiculous. Sign me up to me "less than pretty" like Kate, mmk?
But after this movie I think it is going to be time for some sort of fluffy film. Or a nap. Who knows. I am mentally dizzy today. My brain needs to shut up :P

The Drugs Don't Work

*cringes*

I hate migraines. I particularly hate them when they ebb and peak and ebb and peak. I can throw enough drugs at it to get it down to the Just A Bad Headache level but the fucker comes back. Either that or I am having the rebound headache from hell. I have no Midrin and I have no motivation to go steal some from Mom.

Ex's GF is supposed to come pick kidlet up but I have attempted to get in touch with them and save her a trip. I am going to have to go to the store later one, and I might as well take kidlet then. We are both still fried from Rocky.

It was a shit ton o' fun though. Kidlet got de-virginized in classic RHPS fashion and the cast were fun. Not a lot of audience props participation which really, frankly, sucked. Why go to Rocky and not bring props? The lines have not changed much but the Ex BF variety would be pleased to know that the "bannister is lucky" line has migarted north since I last saw Rocky.

Oh and did we have a row of clueless twats sitting behind us. I am amazed no one had to post bail for me. It is funny as hell to watch the 18-22 year old crowd. Trying so hard to appear so jaded.

Alrighty, I am off to make the rounds of my blogroll and get more coffee in me. I should eat, I really should, but I am just not feeling it with food yet =(

I Fell In To A Burning Ring Of Fire

Whoo hoo! Me and Cleo baby! Ok, I brought the marshmallows, who has the Hershey's and the Graham Crackers?!

The Second Level of Hell -
You have come to a place mute of all light, where the wind bellows as the sea does in a tempest. This is the realm where the lustful spend eternity. Here, sinners are blown around endlessly by the unforgiving winds of unquenchable desire as punishment for their transgressions. The infernal hurricane that never rests hurtles the spirits onward in its rapine, whirling them round, and smiting, it molests them. You have betrayed reason at the behest of your appetite for pleasure, and so here you are doomed to remain. Cleopatra and Helen of Troy are two that share in your fate.

The Dante's Inferno Test has banished you to the Second Level of Hell!
Here is how you matched up against all the levels:

LevelScore
Purgatory (Repenting Believers)Low
Level 1 - Limbo (Virtuous Non-Believers)Very Low
Level 2 (Lustful)Very High
Level 3 (Gluttonous)High
Level 4 (Prodigal and Avaricious)Very Low
Level 5 (Wrathful and Gloomy)Moderate
Level 6 - The City of Dis (Heretics)Very Low
Level 7 (Violent)Moderate
Level 8- the Malebolge (Fraudulent, Malicious, Panderers)Very High
Level 9 - Cocytus (Treacherous)Moderate

Take the Dante Inferno Hell Test

So I am Slut and Glutton and I seem to like the panderers and the fraudulant. I would like the record to show that I answered false on "A Pimp Is A Good Thing To Be." Must have been the fortune tellers and the tarot cards that got me high in that catagory since they are joining the magicians and pagans there :P

In related news, I know why I am a slut. It is all Snapple's Fault. Well they apparently had help from other "Niche Drink" companies. It appears that the veritable bounty of beverages is leading to folks to being less loyal to the big name brands such as Coke , and I quote "The consequence is they become more promiscuous -- people are now drinking dozens of brands." So I am a beverage slut.

It is going to be a busy busy weekend. Taking Kidlet for a professional eyebrow appointment to go with that pink hair. Then the office for a bit. Then home to rest and prepare for our return to Transylvania tonight. It has been ages since I have seen Rocky Horror in a theater so I am pretty jazzed about it. Sunday I have a trip to the mall promised to small child for a Sephora binge and then home when for the day where I will park my ass and rip more cd's to the lap top. I think that is all I have to do tomorrow. I sure hope that is all I have to do tomorrow!

And finally for my last public service of the day, I leave you to find your own "Personality Crisis." Apparently I am slightly histrionic. How many times do I have to say it? The word is quirky people, quirky!

Schizoid:Low

Keep On A Rockin Me Baby

I rock. I really do. You see I know this because not one, but TWO of my favorite girlie bloggers say so! I even get a banner! Here is what these two lovely ladies (although I might be using that term loosely....) have to say about moi.

From Desert Songbird - Starrlight is wonderfully quirky, slightly wicked, and always entertaining. Supremely knowledgeable about music, her posts are like an invitation to a party. A single mom, I suspect her daughter has inherited Starr’s rapier wit and savvy.

And From Belle - Starr is another awesome girl blogger. I feel so fortunate to have come across. She and I share so much in common we have a running joke that we were separated at birth. And indeed, we could be sisters! We have mommyhood in common, as well as most musical and movie preferences as well. And she is moving closer to me in a few years! Get ready, mama! I will be visiting you often, as I escape Alabama anytime I have the chance!

You called it Desert, The Kidlet is rather zippy like me. I am secretly afraid! And Belle, we better start saving up bail money, hun, cause we will need it :P

As you can see, I officially rock. Don't argue with these women, Desert Songbird is an Aquarius too, and we are skilled in the ways of ninja mind meld. She could melt your cerebellum cyberly! Belle did roller derby, which aside from being ridiculously cool, means she could kick your ass. So glad I have them both on MY side!

It totally goes without saying that had they not given me this I would SO be giving it to them both. It is my turn now to name 10 Girl Bloggers *I* think rock:

*** I would like to say that if they were willing to put on dresses and maybe do obscene things with orifices and watermel...nah....cantalopes, I'd be willing to go Drag on this for Matt Man, Bond, Sparky Duck, and Dr. Blogstein cause I think they all rock. How bout it guys?***

Buttercup - The girl just got back from India and did the greatest write up of her time. I highly recommend you check her out.

Oh, The Joy - I want to be her when I grow up! Rooster Girl and The Mayor are lucky to have such a funny and kind woman for a mother. Just don't talk about Park Ranger Uniforms too loudly, mmk?

Echos of A Dream - Love this girl. Her once and former mechanic didn't sound half bad either.

Miss Frou Frou - I Love her posts. She has a quirky sense of humor and her Thursday Thirteens are a favorite and early stop for me. And how can I not love a girl who when asked for a word association for "riding" gave "crop" as an answer?

Thinker - The girl is freaky young to be this freaky good at writing. She is getting ready for college, while battling SAT's, insomnia, and an obsession with her iPod.

Kyra over at The 108th - People, this woman just had a baby and she is STILL on top of her meme's. I bow to her! 4 kids, 1 Dean, and the finest foul mouthed blog it has been my privilege to read TOTALLY put her on the list

Allie D over at Memoirs of a Gouda She is the Head Cheese, people. From ruminations on The Dreaded "C" word, to what friendship means in this day and age.

The Rock Chick - This was a no brainer. She is funny and has the best use of a Queen quote as it pertains to Paris Hilton!

NoMas - She is so laid back! Go read about how she gave up the urban rumble for farm life.

Jenny Haha - She is hysterical. It makes no matter if she is talking wolf crotch or shaved animals.

**Update**...see what happens when Starr posts after at looong week? She forgets half the shit she is supposed to say! Ladies if you are listed above, grab the banner and then pass on the love to 5 girl bloggers you love!

Wordless Wednesday #19 - We Move Like Cagey Tigers

Read more about the Painted Cats!

Your Love Is Better Than Chocolate

Totally posting with our rhyme or reason today. Slept well but woke up weirded out which you know means I had fucked up dreams and mercifully don't remember them. Which is good. I like a good internal defense mechanism.

Guess what I found out yesterday? The Clinton Street Theater is doing Rocky Horror Picture Show as all ages again! Oh Happy Days! That means that this Saturday night I will be doing the Timewarp again with my little lampshade wearing Rocky virgin daughter. Who is, I might add, TOTALLY beside herself at the prospect of seeing it in a theater. RHPS is her all time favorite movie.

I was also thrilled to see that the newest Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum book is out and I have a coupon that means I can get it for 14 bucks! Hells yeah.

Speaking of Hell, watched Hell's Kitchen last night and I am totally rooting for the Waffle House chicka from Atlanta. Biased I am.

And on a final note, I would like to say that I have found both Meaning and A Message over at Bagwine. And a scary picture. Go say Hi to Matt and make him feel relevant, mmk?

Every Day I Write The Book

A while back I was invited by Diogenese to participate in the "Why I Blog" project over at QuasiFictional. There are a lot of great responses over there and I was flattered to be asked why I pollute the cybersphere with my rambles. Head on over and take a look and if you want to participate click here.

Few Rambles here for you I collected over the course of my weekend. First off...Attention Johnny Depp Lovers. Rumor patrol has it that he is the first choice to play.....Michael Hutchence in a bio pic. Talk about wet dream material. Depp playing Hutch. It would be interesting. There is a likeness there. Short of Bono circa 87ish, I can't think of anyone else who really looks or has the Hutch vibe.

In other Music as a movie news, I am frickin champing at the bit for Control the bio pic of Ian Curtis lead singer of Joy Division. Anton Corbijn directed it. You all probably would know him best for his lifetime of U2 pictures including the iconic Joshua Tree shots. Anton knew Ian and actually photographed Joy Division. In addition the members of New Order, Ian's wife AND mistress have all participated and gave a thumb up. So distribute it in the USA already! Damn!

Finally on a serious note, I am sure most of you have heard of the Georgia "sex abuse" case regarding Teen Genarlow Wilson who was sent to jail for consensual oral sex with a 15 year old while he was 17. Which is fucking retarded. Mind you, Georgia has some seriously fucked up blue laws most of which yours truly has broken. But if anyone out thinks 15-17 year olds are not fucking they need to pull their heads out of the sand and take a deep breath. The court in their wisdom have overturned the sentence, but the Georgia Attorney General appears to have both a hard on for this poor kid AND his head up his ass and is appealing the courts decision. Please join me in signing Color Of Change's petition demanding that AG Thurbert Baker drop his appeal.

Get This Party Started Right Now

Yesterday was the last day of school and I don't know who is more excited, me or Kidlet. I love love love not having to drive on my lunch hour. I can treadmill! Woot!

So I picked Miss Thang up from school at 11:15 and we went to Sandoval's for Mexican food lunch celebration. In addition to making into the Talented and Gifted Program for next year, Kidlet was also given President's Award For Educational Excellence. Even W and Laura think my kid is the shiz. Needless to say we are all mucho proud of the Kidlet who is all "aww shucks, leave me alone" on the matter. The plan was for highlights at Ziva and the plan called for PINK.

Had some time to kill before her hair appointment so we stopped off downtown at her old school in the Pearl District. And ya know what? I don't think they recognized her! The school was locked but we could see them having a meeting and me thinks they are clueless as to who was waving at them. Of course she looks TOTALLY different than she did even in Sept at the beginning of the year.

We spent about 3 and a half hours at Ziva with Christopher (Local people, go see him, he rocks) and when we left Kidlet's hair officially KICKED ASS.

She has better pictures of the pink but since my office is anti photobucket I will have to update that when I get home. Yes yes..I am at the office. First weekend since May 20th. I am such a slacker!

On that note...off too work :p

Thursday Thirteen #17 - You Could Tell I Was No Debutante

Turn around being fair play and all that this weeks Thursday Thirteen feature 13 great front women of rock! First off, if you thought the guys were hard cause there are so many, you should sit down and ponder the ladies. No not like that, gentlemen :P

When I got ready to do this list it totally hit me how many of the truly great female singers were solo artists. Aretha honey, I am looking at you. Bands that are fronted by women, that narrows our field just a little bit. In some cases the ladies in question went on to be bigger outside of the band than as a front women (Tina) and some so over shadowed the band they were in that they are essentially thought of as a stand alone artist (that would be Pearl.)

But I think I have made some fine selections. Although I admit I cheated on the Bee Hive twins, but hey. I didn't wanna dis Cindy, mmk? All names are linked to the You Tube video for the song selection I have chosen. Took me hours, people, go click something. The list is varied from early girl groups to my current girl crush (hugs Shirley) and I have tried to choose songs that are my favorites and/or so definitive that I *had* to use them.

May I present to you fine folks:

13(+1) Women Who Rock.

Shirley Manson - Garbage - Stupid Girl - If I had to switch teams it would be for her.

Siouxsie Sioux - Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Creatures - Peek-A-Boo - The Godmother of Goth. I named a cat Peepers for this song.

Debbie Harry - Blondie - Dreaming - Simply the coolest woman rocker. My favorite Blondie song.

Kate Pierson & Cindy Wilson - B52's - Private Idaho - I know I cheated but they are like peanut butter and jelly, mmk? Consider yourselves lucky I didn't just add Fred too.

Gwen Stefani - No Doubt - Simple Kind Of Life - Ah Gwen, please stop yodelling.

Courtney Love - Hole - Malibu - I hate myself for loving this album so damn much.

Annie Lennox - Eurythmics - Would I Lie To You? - A true original and what a voice.

Joan Jett - Joan Jett and the Blackhearts - I Love Rock n Roll - The no brainer song choice of the night.

Janis Joplin - Big Brother and the Holding Company - Ball and Chain (Monterey Pop) - If you have not seen the Monterey Pop movie definately check this out. She blew EVERYONE away.

Tina Turner - The Ike and Tina Revue - River Deep Mountain High - Chills.

Anne Wilson - Heart - Barracuda - Terrible video quality but Annie's voice is incredible.

Ronnie Spector - The Ronettes - Be My Baby - Wall of Ronnie.

Chrissie Hynde - Chrissie Hynde - The Pretenders - The Talk of the Town - Another of my all time favorite songs.

My Thank You To The Folks That Comment!

I came across THIS post while randomly surfing and had a head slap moment. It would seem all blog platfroms screw with link track back in comments unless you remove the code from your html. That meant no loves for your blogs if you left a link in my comments.

How rude!

My template is fixed, feel free to make a signature linking to your blog on any comments you leave =) Oh...and go fix yours!

Every Rose Has Its Thorn

The Wild Rose
Random Brutal Love Dreamer (RBLD)

Colorful, but unpicked. You are The Wild Rose.

Prone to bouts of cynicism, sarcasm, and thorns, you excite a certain kind of man. Hoping to gather you up, he flirts and winks and asks you out, ultimately professing his love. Then you make him bleed. Why? Because you're the rare, independent, self-sufficient kind of woman who does want love, but not from a weakling.

You don't seem to take yourself too seriously, and that's refreshing. You aren't uptight; you don't over-plan. Romance-wise, sex isn't a top priority--a true relationship would be preferable. For your age, you haven't had a lot of bonafide love experience, though, and this kind of gets to core of the issue. You're very selective. The problem is them, not you, right? You have lofty standards that few measure up to. You're out there all right, but not to be picked up by just anyone.

Your exact female opposite:
The Dirty Little Secret

Deliberate Gentle Sex Master

"You're never truly single as long as you have yourself."

ALWAYS AVOID: The Bachelor (DGSM)

CONSIDER: The Vapor Trail (RBLM).

Not only am I Thorny, I am slutty too. OOO LAA LAA!

Cupid - Free Online Dating and Match

The Lilies Are In Bloom

Totally ripped this off from Sparky Duck and totally NOT surprised I got Kate. I love Kate. I used to pretend to be Kate when I was a wee one.

Your Score: Katharine Hepburn

You scored 16% grit, 33% wit, 42% flair, and 16% class!

You are the fabulously quirky and independent woman of character. You go your own way, follow your own drummer, take your own lead. You stand head and shoulders next to your partner, but you are perfectly willing and able to stand alone. Others might be more classically beautiful or conventionally woman-like, but you possess a more fundamental common sense and off-kilter charm, making interesting men fall at your feet. You can pick them up or leave them there as you see fit. You share the screen with the likes of Spencer Tracy and Cary Grant, thinking men who like strong women.

Find out what kind of classic leading man you'd make by taking the Classic Leading Man Test.

I'm 10 Years Burning Down The Road

Friday! How do I love thee, let me count the ways. Why I actually give a shit when I work most weekends is beyond me. I suppose it is my pathetic attempt at being a "joiner."

Having coffee and reading the entertainment news. I see that yet another asshat is suing Borat the Movie. This time it is the running, hand waving, shrieking guy who totally came off as a massive homophobe trying to get away from being hugged. He is suing because they made money on his embarrassment. Psst.... here is a hint for you Jeffrey, you look like a bigger pussy now that you filed a lawsuit than you did in the movie. And that is saying something. GG!!

July is shaping up all social like. That includes of course the Social Distortion concert on July 13. Kidlet is totally beside herself. She was made to wear her Social D T-shirt inside out at school due to the Dancing Skelly having a martini glass and cigarette. She wisely decided to hold off wearing my other Social D Pin Up T-shirt cause I think the boobies might totally freak out the straights.

Later in July we are heading to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival to see The Tempest and Romeo and Juliet. I love Shakespeare. Love him to bits. So much so, that my daughter is named after one of his characters. Nobody better bring up that whole Kit Marlowe crap or I will have to beat you with a limp noodle.

Here is a question for you to all ponder. How different are you today from when you were say, 16? I had the most vivid dreams last night about my trip to Europe in 85. It was damn freaky! They were not just fond memory dreams either. I dreamed things that actually did happen and with a level of detail that I couldn't achieve while being awake. The funny part is, that in my dream inhabiting my 16 year old self didn't feel any different that being my 38 year old self. Hell I would still get jacked up on Cuba Libra's and dance on tables to Born In The USA to this day. Ahh, Florence =)

Thursday Thirteen # 16 - We Are The Champions My Friends

I was watching VH1 classics the other day and they played Bohemian Rhapsody followed by Van Halen. I remarked to Kidlet that there were two of the greatest Front Men of all times. Which in turn gave me the idea for this list. Now first off, I had 13 choices people. 13. *13* That is not many. And I didn't include people like Hendrix or James Brown or Prince who God knows, OWNS as a Front Man. Why did I not list them? Mostly because when you think of them, you pretty much think of them and not a "band." Same goes for Springsteen. There are no Beatles on that list because unlike the Stones, they all sang. Now Ringo was no Lennon and I know that, but I think of the Beatles more as a "collective."

So without further ado I bring you my list, incomplete though it may be, of 13 Great Frontmen!

1. Freddie Mercury - Hands down the single greatest in my humble opinion. There was Freddie and then there was everyone else. We lost a huge talent there.

2. Diamond David Lee Roth - He may be just a Gigolo and Van Halen may have been reduced to a joke, but in their day, boy howdy. Saw them in concert. Twice. Still have hearing loss. And Dave? Dave was the man.

3. Robert Plant - The Tall Cool One. Although it is very nearly impossible to think Plant and not think Page as they played off of each other so much. But Robert had an intensity that pretty much locked you on his performance.

4. Bono - How many other front men double as the Messiah? And admit it? Bono is the man. And if you have seen them in concert you would be surprised to find that he is not quite the saint he is made out to be in the press. And he has a thing for the ladies ;)

5. Axl Rose - Will Axl sing? Will Axl scream at the crowd? Will Axl start throwing punches? Who knows, but you damn sure wanted to stick around and find out. Cause when he sang, Axl saved Metal from bands like Poison.

6. Michael Hutchence - Um ok, look I could totally go on about his talent, cause he was hugely talented. But people I saw the man in concert when I was 17. White shirt, black leather pants. I still get wobbly thinking about it. Hutch had talent and HUGE sex appeal.

7. Jim Morrison - The font of all shamanesque sex appeal and the Lizard King of the black leather pants. Morrison was Morrison. What more do I need to say?

8. Kurt Cobain - Patron saint and martyr of Generation X. Regardless of who killed him, we all helped with our adulation. Kurt was goofball in person. Something I think you would have had to have seen very early on in his career before he became the voice of a generation. We really lost a good one there.

9. Mick Jagger - The Original Bad Boy. Got to love The Mick. How can you NOT love The Mick? Who else would have the balls to write and sing Under My Thumb? Mick did and does and manages to make you wanna be under that thumb all at the same time. That is talent.

10. James Hetfield - James-AH has-Ah an entire-Ah speech pattern-AH all to-Ah himself -AH. Plus he set himself on fire on stage. That totally rocks! The Napster thing, not so much.
PS...Lars you are a dink.

11. Billie Joe Armstrong - Pint sized but my God does this boy have energy. Billie actually sounds like Billie live. He is not one of those canned in the studio voices. He is also all OVER that stage and totally gets involved with the audience. Hands down the best rock show I have seen. (Desert honey, don't get pissed, U2 shows are more like a religious experience, mmk?)

12. Joe Strummer - Citizen Strummer was the man. I was beyond fucking bummed when he died. Just crushed. I totally was holding out for a reunion. And yes, Mick Jones sang too, blah blah blah, bite me. Joe Strummer WAS The Clash.

13. Johnny Rotten - What can one say about Johnny that he has not already said himself? The tag line to 24 Hour Party People comes to mind. Genius. Poet. Twat. John went beyond being a front man. He was a movement.

Would You Lie With Me And Just Forget The World

Aquarius (Jan 20 - Feb 18)
The mixed messages you have been receiving collapse today into a singular directive: go for it. Now. If you feel thwarted by circumstances, withdraw just enough to rethink your plan and then try again. You will have a better chance if you are determined that you will accomplish your goals. Believe in yourself and make your move.

Aquarius Quickie:
You have more power than you think you do -- make today whatever you want it to be.

Overview:
Why divide everything into wrong or right, or white or black? Instead, see if you can divvy up people and experiences into life lessons or ultimately unimportant. What a difference a change in attitude makes.

Damn, pressure much Mister Horoscope? Why can't I ever get one that says, "Hey Starr! Go buy a new pair of shoes, honey, you deserve it!"

Starr's Personal Card:

The Hanged Man

This Deck: Old English

General Meaning: Traditionally, the card known as the Hanged Man usually indicates a lack of ability to help oneself through independent action. This energy is arrested and awaiting judgment. With this card, there is no avenue for the will to regain control until the situation has passed.

This represents a good time to be philosophical, to study and meditate upon the position you find yourself in, and form resolutions for the moment you become free again. Only those who possess wisdom, patience and optimism will be able to see through limitations, including possible humiliation, to grasp the inspiring lesson one can gain from such an experience.

So Lead Me Astray, I'm In The Mood To Obey

Work is the suck. Not that my day is going badly or anything I just have the work blahs. I need to win the lottery. I need to buy a ticket for that to happen but you get my basic point, no?

I did NOT work this weekend. How is that for shocking. Two weekends in a row. I basically live here for July and I just decided that I was much better off staying home and ripping all my cd's to my computer. Not that I am remotely close. Plus there is kidlets CD's. But I think I have around 60 done so far. 400 to go!

Highlight of my weekend was the trip to the "adult fun store" as they like to call it. You know, pr0n. It was time to trade BOB in for a newer model. As usual, I think I was the only female in there NOT doing the whole "ooohh...this is for a bridal gag (HAH!) gift not for me!" routine.

Bullshit :P

Come on ladies, grow a pair. The vibrator you just bought has them, why not try borrowing them? It's 2007, do women really need to pretend we don't have sex drives still? What has Helen Gurley Brown fought so hard for all these years? I do not think it was strictly to educate women on the location of the mythic "taint" ya know? Although I swear to you every single issue of Cosmo talks about the "male g spot" in some form or another. Don't believe me? Go look at this months and I bet they have some "super secret way to blow his mind" article. I guess showing up is not enough :P

Come Pick Me Up, Come Take Me Out

I love this movie. Love this movie. Not sure exactly why but I just do. The music is of course kick ass. Cameron does a soundtrack like no one else. But something about the themes of this movie just reduce me to tears every time I watch it. Don't get me wrong it is quite funny. Cameron does bitter and sweet better than anyone I can think of.

But the underlying themes of love and loss and finding yourself get me every time. Maybe because I am killing time in a place and situation that I hate, it gets to me. Maybe because the entire road trip as a metaphor for life and the miles/years passing you by gets me. I don't want to miss 60B. I have been living off of 60B for years and it is getting mighty old.

Plus Claire reminds me of me on crack Which is scary to ponder.

Reviewers have consistently given it harsh reviews for being a "mishmash" of story lines. Personally I think that is merely another symptom of peoples need to have everything put in a nice box. And they had issues with Claire for saying impossibly weird things that "normal" people would not say. I say they need to get out more often. Those that know me, know this.

Claire Colburn: "You're always trying to break up with me, and we're not even together."

Drew Bailey: "We're not?"

That is a great line. That plus 2 others make me smile. It's a pained smile but a smile none the less.

So if you are in the mood for a movie that doesn't hand you a nice box all wrapped up with definitions, go for this one.

Come pick me up
Take me out
Fuck me up
Steal my records
Screw all my friends
They're all full of shit
With a smile on your face
And then do it again

Deep Thoughts!

Dang this is my week to do the "aw shucks" blush and shrugs. Belle over at Devilish Southern Belle has awarded me the Thinking Blogger Award. We truly were seperated at birth!

Now it is my turn to spread the love and Sparkly Gold Banner!

Here are the official rules

1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think.

2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme.

3. Optional: Proudly display the "Thinking Blogger Award"

Down to the goods! Here are 5 blogs you should be reading if you are not already!

1. The108 - I am actually pretty new to 108's blog. And I am pissed I was not let into the club sooner. This girl SLAYS me. As in I might need Depends if she describes Labor and Delivery again in the near future. And the Ballgown story?!? Holy Shit!

2. Parlancheq - Another woman who makes me laugh my ass off. From her random consumer reviews to the meme's she answers to her rants at her neighbors - this is one witty woman.

3. Echos of A Dream - The Enigmatic Thirty Year Old and the saga of her life, her job, her Muffin, and her future not quite but entirely unlike GrandSpawn make great reading. Plus she is snarky. I love snarky.

4. Bond's Big Leather Couch - Is it possible he has not been tagged for this?! HOW?!? Vinny is the man, people. You got your TV reviews, you got your creepy original fiction, you got your sports talk and you can always count on a kickass sound track. Simply an awesome and entertaining blog!

5. Theory of Thought - She is 17, people. *17.* And a stellar writer. If you think teens these days are a lost cause (and face it once you are over 30 of course you do) then you need to head on over and make yourself at home. She is honest, funny, wacky, sarcastic, and has spooky talent for one so young.
