I'm Impossible To Forget, But I'm Hard To Remember.

Well I had a nice weekend. Which is good cause I sure as shit needed one. I actually feel rested! I got nothing accomplished but I feel a hell of a lot better. Which is saying something.

Kidlet has school only on Mon and Tues this week. 5 day weekend. Sweet, right? I don't remember things like that when I was in high school. Then she has a normal 5 day week followed by Thanksgiving aka 4 day weekend. Thanksgiving we are being joined by the family tattoo artist, his wife and mom and baby girl. There will be green beans and pecan pie and lots and lots and lots of mashed potatoes. Which is the whole point of that particular holiday in my book.

Why does my tv line up suck so hard today? I am going back and forth on Elizabethtown versus Breakfast at Tiffany's. Probably because Moon River is in both of them and it is currently stuck in my head. Damn you Johnny Mercer.

Um...by the way, this was written Sunday day/night but not posted until Monday. Because I am a slacker and all.

Elizabethtown has won the day. I love this movie. I hate this movie. It's complicated. I love the fact that Drew wanders round going "I'm fine" over and over. Plus I get Claire. Hell most days I *am* Claire. Damn. Now I am going to want to load up the soundtracks and go for a drive. Unfortunately the day sucks. As most will from here until eternity aka May.

"I am taking this moment to tell you that I am untraditional."

Dinner is looking like it is going to be pizza. Which is what breakfast was so there is a nice symmetry to my day, ya know?

This post is seriously fucking random, isn't it?

Hey speaking of random, Devilish Southern Belle brought up an idea I think might be kind of fun. A group live blog movie review wherein a bunch of us (hint hint my email buddies) all rent the same movie, get bombed off our asses, hit a chat room and live review it. Let me know if this sounds interesting. Yes Jay you can wear the horns while reviewing ;)

I leave you with *most* of the songs from the two Elizabethtown soundtracks. A few are missing. I did find Summerlong on Youtube with film clips which is nice cause it is one of my favorite songs on the album. This gives you the general feel. Freebird is not technically on the soundtrack but it figures into the movie. Most creatively.

And I Thank You

Title today is a shout out to my mother who has wisely seen the need for pie pan LARGER than 9 inches for our Pecan Pie. We have too many people coming and I want my leftovers. Cause everyone voted for Pumpkin and Blackbottom pie except mom and I, but I just KNOW they will hog the pecan. I just feel it in my pecan lovin' bones.

I am loopy. Worked both days this weekend, and 11.5 hour days yesterday and today. And a 10 on tap for tomorrow. Turkey Day will be relaxing. Working a long one on Friday and Saturday. Sunday I am also working but only 4 hours. Trying to get November work out on time and get a jump on December so I can relax around the holidays. Plus the weekend out of town with kidlet on the 7/8.

Sunday I think kidlet and I are going to go see a movie at Cinema 21 again. That's where we saw the Strummer movie. We saw the previews for What Would Jesus Buy? and it looked frickin hysterical. It takes on one of my major pet peeves. The commercialization of Christmas and Americans worship of the almighty dollar in general. With a slight tweak of evangelicalism as well. How can that NOT appeal to me? I loathe shopping AND organized religion, so count me in. I love the fact that they use the Disney font on their site too. Quite amusing.

Not sure if any of my readers are signed up ONE.ORG members, but I got an email yesterday saying that our letter/email campaign to the International Monetary Fund asking them to keep their promise to forgive Liberia's debt worked. They even acknowledge the vast numbers of writers who put the pressure on them to keep their word. Liberia has been decimated by civil wars and the likes of Charles Taylor -with some help from that evangelical pig Pat Robertson. If you have seen Blood Diamond or Lord of War you have an idea. They finally have a chance to put their money into their people, rather than paying off the debts that ass Taylor and other petty dictators have racked up. With a large handful of European and American complicity, I might add. It's like our current "credit crisis." How could they not see this would happen? Give a 400k mortage to a McD worker with your super low cost ARM and what do you think will happen when the rates go up? Just another example of corporate greed.

Now if only the special tribunal in Sierra Leone would fry Charles and his equally repellant little son Chuckie. THAT would be something to be thankful for!

Cause Time Goes By Like Hurricanes

I think I have recovered from my food coma. Maybe. I still feel kinda spaced out today. Damn that L-tryptophan!

Kidlet's dad got her around 3ish and they headed to the beach for the evening with his GF's family. Didn't stop him from woofing down a slice of mom's pumpkin pie though. Away from the windows of course. Can't be seen doing that!

Dinner was stellar as usual. And Mamasan took pity on me and finally made me a pecan pie. I love pecan pie. No scratch that, I worship at the alter of pecan pie. Pecan and cherry pretty much take care of my pie needs.

Mom is flying out to Utah again today. My great aunt Alice died earlier this week. I am wondering who is next. Uncle George died last month. These things go in threes. Poor Gramps probably hopes it is him. I think he is still pissed off he didn't kick the bucket last year with the GI bleed. He is annoyed he has lived as long as he has after Grams died. I think he feels it is ungentlemanly.

So far Maui still looks like May. And what with the cash I am saving not smoking I should have spending money! If you figure a pack at day at 4.90 that is around $1788 a year. I can buy a lot of shaved ice with that.

At work of course. I should have some help later today. I just want to catch this shit up before I get truly slammed again in January. 35 mins per group with approx 250 groups a month and you get the picture. That works out to a bit over 18 standard 8 hour days. There are only 22 week days in Nov :P

I am in a hard core Blues Traveler mood today. However it looks like people other than Moi are starting to come in to the office. Bleh :P

I think I need to hit Starbucks again for a fast refil and bagel moment and then get on to editting this crap.

I Don't Know How To Read But I Got A Lot Of Toys

Kidlet is at the Ex's. He was actually waiting for us yesterday when we got home from her school. And I didn't ram his foo foo car with mine! I am very proud of myself for that.

I am still picking kidlet up today because he is apparently going to work. Why bother for one day is what I am wondering. No biggie, I like the fact that I see her every single day other than every other Sunday. We get to chat and I can stay on top of her school work that way. Handy.

It is the day before Thanksgiving and I am in a seriously snarky mood. Maybe because of all the baby daddy drama, I dunno. Either way I am just not feeling it. Which is pathetic since I have a ton to be thankful for. I am just not feeling the congregation mood or the "love the one your with" vibe this year.

Gobble Gobble.

It just seems fairly vacant some how. That is probably due to my general dissatisfaction with my job and life. Legal documents are necessary, sure, but not very uplifting.

Heck I even had to fight for my right to stay on our Charity Auction Committee. The boss was not feeling our catholic mission to help the poor and needy by letting her tech participate to a large degree. I pretty much had to lay out on the line that I do enough work work around here and I need a break from the cut and dry paperwork. I think I had that glint in my eye or something. She even added it to my career goals for next year. Heh :P
