Don't Bail On Me

At work. Bleh. Make up for yesterday's made rush to the doctors. Poor Kidlet was beat by the time I dropped her off. Plus she had a shot. Never fun. But she is all packed and ready to head to the San Fran on Sunday with her grandmother. Mom went shopping and treated all three of us to some uber cool Converse. Mom and I got The Dead ones and Kidlet got the Dark Side Of The Moon ones. They NEED to make a U2 shoe!

They are purdy, no?

So got oatmeal and just made a pot of coffee. Gonna go grind out a couple hours of data entry and try not to think about how far behind I am. I leave you with one of my all time favorite songs, evah.

I spent a year in the mouth of a whale
With a flame and a book of signs
You'll never know how hard I've failed
Trying to make up for lost time

Once I believed in things unseen
I was blinded by the dark
Out of the multitude to me
He came and broke my heart

When the dust in the field has flown
And the youngest of hearts has grown
And you doubt you will ever be free
Don't bail on me

River is wide and oh so deep
And it winds and winds around
I dream we're happy in my sleep
Floating down and down and down

And the tide rushes by where we stand
And the earth underneath turns to sand
And we're waiting for someone to see
Honey, Don't bail on me.

Tell ma I loved the man
Even though I turned and ran
Lovely and fine I could have been
Laying down in the palm of his hand
Laying down in the palm of his hand
Laying down in the palm of his hand
Staying down in the palm of his hand

In the morning you wait for the sun
And secretly hope it won't come
But time washes everyone clean
Buddy now, don't bail on me
Don't bail on me
Don't bail on me

TT #44 - I Can Sing My Song Again

Today I bring you Thirteen very special songs. Call it "mood" music if you will. Certain songs that would be my choice for certain real life and purely imaginary situations. These would be my choices!

1. My current Karaoke Rock Goddess Wish I Was Pat Benetar sing along whilst driving,
Axium - Callout.

2. If your mama here ever went the pole dancer route this would so be my song as it is seriously tasty funk. White Zombie - Boogie Man

3. I love to cook. It's like therapy for me and I have a particular weakness for French and Italian food. Which must be why my favorite music to cook by comes from an Irishman. Van Morrison - Into The Mystic

4. Road Rage. Who hasn't felt it? And when you are on the road and pondering if life in jail would really be *that* bad, nothing beats Korn - Twisted Transistor.

5. Sometimes I just feel a little like I missed 60B and get myself into a funk. When that happens it is time to wallow with I Nine -Same In Any Language

6. My all time favorite stare at a tropical ocean view song is, hands down, Moby - Porcelain.

7. I can lower my blood pressure and calm down from virtually any irritant by listening to The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony

8. But sometimes I don't want to calm down. Sometimes humanity just plain pisses me off. For those days I go with Get Set Go - Die Motherfucker Die. (It's a pretty little song in actuality!)

9. To fall asleep there is nothing better than Enya in general and Orinoco Flow in particular. This was kidlet's bedtime music from birth to 8. And since I have not ripped Enya to my computer yet, YouTube to the rescue!

10. What do I wake up to everyday? Well my cell phone is my alarm and every morning I wake up to The Bononator telling me it will be A Beautiful Day - U2

11. Now the burning question in everyone's mind is "What does Starr, vintage goth that she is, most like to wear black to?" Trick question since I wear black virtually every day. But for our special occasions only the sisters will do, Sisters of Mercy -Temple of Love the 1992 Remix featuring Ofra Hazra.

12. What music do I like to break up to? There's a deep questions. Now I have been through my share of breakups and I can honestly say Sheryl Crow's The Globe Session album covers it all. Sheryl Crow - It Don't Hurt live featuring The Dixie Chicks.

The electric man looks good today
Maybe not, but I'm trying hard
Trying hard to feel that way
The electric man's a good place to start.

13. And finally what is my favorite background while I am reading and or writing music? Jazz. Hands down. Billie Holiday is going to represent here for us with Come Rain Or Come Shine.

There Ain't Nothing Like Regret To Remind You You're Alive

Ah Sheryl. Lovely Sheryl and her The Globe Sessions are such fun to listen to. I refer to that as my Divorce Album. By that I mean I was listening to that album pretty much on repeat during the time Ex Husband Variety and I split. Oddly enough, not a bummer time. By the time we split I was done with being depressed over him, kthx.

But being that I am in an introspective mood I hauled that CD out this am on my way too work and taking kidlet to school. I haven't listened to it in a couple of years because, again, the mental associations attached to it were a trip down memory lane I just did not feel like taking. Until today. I figured what the fuck it goes so well with my hair shirt. The Difficult Kind is a great song, but man it is still is like a fist in the gut. I used to have a live duet version of it with Sarah McLachlan. THAT was a tearfest. I still can't listen to Mirrorball. **Update. I once again have that duet version. Still a fist in the gut, but I feel oddly better having it.

It is gorgeous here today. Again. That must mean something is going to go horribly wrong. Nice? Here? May? Not usually and frankly last week we had hail for 4 days in a row and it looked like a monsoon in December. Global warming at it's finest people.

Speaking of kidlet - YO WIDGET. I am SO going to win that bet.

K..sorry inside joke and I get a kick out of poking the sleeping dog with a stick.

Work is work is work. I am so looking forward to school being done for the year and having my lunch hour back again. I don't mind doing the pick up etc, but the current gas prices just suck. But the bus stop is way too far from home for her to walk and have me feel at all comfortable. Dunno what we are gonna do next year. I flat out can't wait till the little wench can drive. Then she can drive MY ass around.

Here is a fun little test. I like the fact that I scored high on the lust scale. As for how I am supposed to check out? Not bloody likely. Go now, fellow Bloggers and discover the odds on your toasting Marshmallows with Satan. Looks like I stand a fair chance :P

Call Me Sally Fields!

You like me! A very big thank you to The Thinker over at Theory of Thought for my 3rd place award in her So You Think You Can Blog? contest. Having read the other folks who entered, I am quite surprised and pleased to have received this. And go read her blog, people. This girl has the it factor in spades.

Had a lovely weekend and did not work at all. As you can tell by the fact that I was incogblogo all weekend. Went to see John Mayer and Sheryl Crow at the Ampitheater in Ridgefield, Wa and it was awesome. I love Sheryl, Globe sessions was my divorce album. And I have loved John Mayer going back to seeing him in 2001 before he was THE John Mayer. He's smart, sarcastic, gorgeous and he has talent. The best part was watching the teeny boppers get all confused at his concert. It was heavly blues leaning and man o man they all looked like confused pigeons. He didn't play Wonderland which is just fine by me. Prolly broke their lil hearts.

So Monday I am off with a headache and a flat tire. Fun. Tuesday I am off cause kiddobean has tummy troubles. Woke me up at 3 in the morning. Urgh. She is better now, and at school.

I am being bad and bloggin as my computer application is off limits while they reboot it. Not that it will help much, my system is like being on a 26k back in 1997. Oh and they screwed up my paycheck AGAIN!

Grrr. Anyhow back to work. Go read The Thinker right now. Go on...shoo!
