I just realized the Charity Auction is in less than 2 weeks. Which means I am gonna be SWAMPED until the ...oh shit, I forgot the CAP Art Auction....I will be swamped until April 20th. We start selling chips next week and I am working the table on my lunch hour every day up to acution day. I think we are going to see less money this year. The economy makes it inevitable. Still I am impressed with my fellow employees and the effort they put into it and their generosity. I ended up chairing our suites team to make our suites basket. Apparently I would make a great bill collector cause I got EVERYONE to donate 10-20 bucks =)
Our basket kicks some ass too. I am so bidding on it. 2 night stay in Newport, two big robes, lots of booze, 2 restaurant gift certificates, a Visa gift card for gas, 50bucks for Freds (Kroegers to you east coast folks) MORE booze, chocolate, taffy...oh and a stuffed crab. One of my coworkers did the shopping and that chick is amazing. She got the food certificates and 1 night of the stay donated to us!
Kidlet has given up a concert she really wanted to go to so that we can attend the training session for the Cascade AIDS project Art Auction. It was Cobra Starship no less, and she still gave it up without a whine. My kid rocks =)
Speaking of concerts, so far I know we are going to see Death Cab For Cutie and we MIGHT do The Dave Matthews Band in the Gorge. U2 is out cause I just can not afford to travel. But if they are releasing another album in December I would not be surprised to find them doing indoor shows next year. I can live. But Snow Patrol needs to tour without them and come to Portland or Seattle. Oh and Muse...please please please put out an album and come back to PDX!
Speaking of concerts how cool is this? Mom and Kidlet are going to see the Playing For Change concert in San Francisco next week! I have posted this before but it is worth a repeat. I am jealous they get to see this!

Ghosts Appear And Fade Away
I am now hooked on a friggin TV show, which is nothing new, but this one is on at 10pm. Dammit I am old. I am usually in bed by 10! Damn you Nathan Fillion! Castle is the standard cop/buddy show but with a twist. Nathan plays a crime novelist who manages to get himself in with a real life detective who he is basing his newest character on.
Nathan Fillion has a shit ton of charm to spare (once a Browncoat, always a Browncoat) and he plays a bit of a dissolute character. Which he does well. He has great chemistry with his main co-star Stana Katic. Gonna end up with dark circles.
Kidlet goes to San Fran next week for spring break with my Mom. Lucky shits. I get to work and do laundry and help my dad give 4 cats eyedrops. Me and Sheila E livin the glamorous life ;)
Currently reading Duma Key. People who say King can't write need to pull the pretentious stick out of their ass, cause he so can write. Not that Stevie has not published some questionable shit but I would say his questionable shit is better than most peoples best efforts.
Just saw that there will be a new Pendergast novel out soon. I LOVE those. If you like mystery novels with a twist of Holmes to it then this is a great read. Authors are Douglas Preston and Lincoln Childs. Check em out.
Thanks to Matt for getting Men At Work stuck in my noggin ;)

Nothing Sweet About Me
I LOVE my radio station. Every weeknight we get new music and we get to vote on them. This week I am diggin the following:
Gabriella Cilmi - Nothing Sweet About Me. She is Italian-Australian and this is her debut single.
Next up another band on the perpetually talented Southern music scene:
Cage The Elephant - Ain't No Rest For The Wicked. Me thinks me needs to buy this.
I hated their iPod song, Shut Up and Let Me Go....but I dig this one:
The Ting Tings - That's Not My Name
And last but not least a band out of Boss Land, New Jersey's The Gaslight Anthem with The '59 Sound. Musically they remind me of The Alarm. Go figure.
