Damn you, YouTube you have stolen my will to work! Since Cook got this stuck in my head I had to go find it. Not the official of course. Sony is rude. Great band. I miss alt rock/post grunge. But anyhow these three songs have been running around my brain for the last 24 hours. Had to get them out!
Our Lady Peace - Innocent
Alice In Chains - No Excuses. Man I miss Layne.
Collective Soul - Shine

So Take A Minute Just To Breathe
Good advice, especially to all the visitors who got here via the search term "David Cook happy trail." I feel so vindicated! Although currently I am indulging in DC arm porn.
On that note...moving on! I am at work, beta testing the platform changes and trying to keep out of the x rated fangirl threads on the message boards. Not cause they are shocking or anything. Frankly I have seen worse. Hell I have written worse! But ya know if you want to fantasize about moonlit beaches and Marvin Gaye be my guest. I'll stick with my handcuffs and sex in public places kthx. I mean really. UPS fantasies? People if I am gonna indulge in xrated daydreams about David why in God's name would I change him from Hot Rock Star to UPS dude? That would be like RWA turning Heidi Klum into a Dunkin Donuts cashier!
Can you believe my mom and kid read this? This is me censored, people. I think even Matt Man might blush if he could see my mental movie theater. Or stroke out -mind out of gutter, Matty! Not Desert though. Cause she is kinky like that ;)
Had some sort of stomach flu these last couple days. Started with a headache and general blah feeling on Saturday and just progressed. I am pretty sure the fact that it is gray, rainy and 58 outside is adding to it. God I hate this state!
Grr.
Back to the grind.
Man it all comes back to sex today, doesn't it?

If You Want To Know The Truth You Make Or Break My Day
Um, so, like...my review of Indy never got written. I worked Saturday and frankly I have spent the rest of the weekend being a total David Cook fangirl. In my defense I loved the kid from his audition and voted for him every single week. That was before he got the new haircut, lost 15 pounds and lost his electric razor. And started to look like this-

Yup that is a cradle I would totally rob. The fact that he is wicked smart adds to it. Smart men beat pretty men any day of the week. After his new look around week 9, it was like, "Whoa! Talented AND I wanna throw my panties at him. BONUS!"
And yes, there are two pictures of him up just for my benefit.
I want NO SHIT from the Soul Patrol squad cause I know you have done it too. Well except Trav and Bond, you guys would be fanboys.
That sounds dirty :P
But I totally can see you tossing mental panties. Not necessarily at Taylor. Kat was pretty hawt.
Trav, I have several of David's original songs. His entire solo album in fact and his old band. So holler if you want to hear his original works. And anyone else for that matter.
edit Shocker! Lifelogger actually uploaded it! Silly program.

And now onto Indy and the Crystal Skull. I will cut right to the chase. It did not suck. In fact it was pretty damn good. Was it Raiders of the Lost Ark good? Of course not, trying to recapture a moment in time never works. But is was not the Indy version of that HORRID Attack of the Clones crap that Lucas inflicted on Star Wars. It knew enough to not try to pretend to be Raiders redux. It felt perfectly natural in it's progression. Like "yeah this is what Indy would be doing 18 years later" rather than "WTF, who is Harrison Ford kidding??"
We start off as always with the Paramount Mountain logo dissolving into another mountain. Or molehill in this case. Indy is in trouble and only his Bullwhip can save him! From there...My lips are sealed! Seriously, I can't say much about the plot without giving it away. If it sounds like the plot is slim, well of course it is! We are here for the banter and the action, not the frickin plot! You wanna learn something go watch The DaVinci Code! I can confirm the rumors that aliens do factor in. I swear to god I think Lucas goes home and inserts his own probe and plays abduction.
Best things about it?
1. Harrison Ford. That man owns. He's Han Solo and Indiana Jones. Talk about iconic roles. And he made them iconic. He looks just obnoxiously good for his age without plastic surgery and he is totally believable as an adventurer.
2. Shia LaBeouf was pretty good as Mutt. If they are thinking of pinning the future franchise on him they better keep Harrison around though. He just doesn't have the nads to pull it off alone.
3. BEST THING ....Marion is back! Indy with no Marion was always just wrong. Karen gives us Marion as her usual saucy self and she and Harrison Ford still have the chemistry.
All in all, it's worth a trip to the theater and kidlet and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
And wrapping things up I'd like to assure all of you that the world is still sitting perfectly on it's axis. Hell has not frozen over and the End Days are not upon us. Translation, the weather sucked all weekend. Hail, rain and a balmy 54 degrees! Go Whoreygon!

Happy Memorial Day, Peeps!
My slacker ass has been, well, slacking. I will promise to post more. Including my review of the new Indiana Jones movie which kidlet and I saw last night. Hint..it did not suck!
Kidlet will be at the Sasquatch Festival this weekend with her Dad and his GF and her semi sorta step brother. I be am jealous! REM is playing tomorrow night and The Cure on Sunday. I have seen The Cure of course (Goth Club requirement) but not REM. Which SUCKS cause I bought my first REM album waay back in 83 when Murmur was released. Yet another reason to move south. They play there more often cause, duh, they are southern.
The Whigs, Breeders, Modest Mouse, Ozomatli, New Pornographers, Death Cab For Cutie, Presidents of the USA, and Flaming Lips are all playing along with Robert and Co and Michael and Co. She is best buds with her semi sorta step bro so they should have a great time. I, meanwhile, get to work tomorrow and dog sit their dogs for the weekend :P
I think I might haul my butt down to the beach on Sunday. Just to drive there and go hang out at Arcadia beach and look at the waves for the day might be nice. We shall see. I have to let the dogs out in the mornings and then in at night and cage up the demon beagle.
And now one for the road. I like these guys. Carolina Liar - and yes the lead singer is from South Carolina - are getting some decent buzz and are on rotation at my favorite station KNRK. If you like Band of Horses or The Editors I will bet on you liking these guys.

Every Artist Is A Cannibal Every Poet Is A Thief
Well it kind of snuck up on me but today is my 2 year blogoversary. Whoo :P
Which makes it all the more sad that I have slacked at blogging lately but the recent kidlet drama pooped me out and frankly I had nuthin. I did get quite a bit of gardening done in the last week though. I live in a townhouse, which in theory has a landscaping crew as I think I have blogged about before, but we can do our own plantings and I have a large back balcony/deck. So I got quite a few summer color spots in and planted some seeds. Still need to do more though. And the back property line has this odd strip of wild grass between the bark walking trail and the lawn. I am going to employ my Grandpa's old trick for beautification. There are whole stretches of the freeways outside of Salt Lake City that have California poppies and bluebells that bloom every year. That is due to Gramps and I taking drives with a big old Folgers can of seeds and letting them fly out the window onto the sides of the highway. We used to do that while out on our trips looking for wild Asparagus and edible greens. You non Greek types would call them weeds :P
Let's see what else do we have. It was blazing hot here the last couple of days. Only in Orygon can you get a high of 55 on Tuesday and a high of 90 on Thursday. So we had record heat Thursday Friday Sat and Sun. Apparently we had a record turn out for Obama at Waterfront park as well. They are projecting some 65000 at the park and of course tons more on boats and outside the perimeter of the main park. While I still am not thrilled at my choices for either Democratic candidate it does make me happy to see so many younger kids out there. I have ALWAYS voted. I never got my peers who acted like they were too cool to vote. WTF... then don't bitch about the government if you don't participate.
This year we get to elect senators too. I am strongly leaning to the gay midget with a hook hand. Yes you read that right. Something about that just tickles me. Talk about Obama and Hillary being a historical candidates! They have both thumbs!
Oh I took kidlet to her first laser light shows on Saturday night. We saw Laser Nirvana and Laser Dark Side Of The Moon. Floyd still owns for Laser shows. She loved it! They have learned a few new tricks since my day. I think that was the first show I have been to where I had NOT had beer prior to admission. And no one lit up in the theater!!! I miss the good old days when you could bribe the tech with a bowl and he'd do double shows and midnight :P

War, Inc
Hi folks. I am back, semi inspired and hella tired. Sad rhymes to prove it. Kidlet went back to school today and I got to work and found out I am moving cubicles. So I spent today packing and unpacking and now I hurt like hell. Getting ready to watch Idol and so very excited about an upcoming movie!
But first, my brief take on What Happens In Vegas. It's fluff. Not bad fluff but not really well developed fluff. Ashton is charming and very watchable. Cameron played herself and I gotta say, Cam honey the years are starting to show. You might wanna lay off the tanning. Plus her character was just annoying in it. It did feature some damn funny performances by Lake Bell and Cam's best friend Tipper and Rob Corddry as Ashton's best friend/lawyer that were quite fun to watch. Dennis Miller as the judge and Treat Williams as Ashton's dad were also amusing. My advice, wait for DVD. But kidlet wanted to see it and she was the one who was recently treated to the Ginsu knife slice and dice so she got to pick. Go see Forgetting Sarah Marshall instead.
Now then. Who out there is still unclear on the fact that I ADORE John Cusack? Hands down my favorite actor of my generation and the man who gave us the one and only Lloyd Dobler.
So I am totally jazzed about his newest film coming out soon War, Inc. Yes it is political, yes it is satire, yes it is not particularly warm and fuzzy about George Bush and Haliburton, et al. BUT it does it with Hillary Duff dropping a live scorpion down her pants. That, friends and neighbors, sums up what I think will make this different than some of the hamfisted political movies of late. It's not afraid to make you laugh as well as make you thing. And did I mention I LOVE John Cusack? The trailor is below and you can check out John's My Space page

Update 2
I brought Kidlet home to our house last night. We have been at moms as stairs were just not something she was gonna be doing. She is still sleeping nearly round the clock which ain't great cause she needs to get up and get moving. But her pain is better and her cough is getting better. Had my doc appointment this morning and my sugars and bp are doing much better. Oh and even though I had to cancel appointment #2last week of hypno I am down 5 and a half pounds. Amazing what cutting out white sugars and flour and pasta can do!

Update
As some of you know, Kidlet became very ill last Saturday and we ended up spending all day in the Emergency room on Sunday. She had a hemorrhaging ovarian cyst that was 8 centimeters. The ER experience was a total clusterfuck but fortunately when we got her in to an OB Monday morning as an emergency that doctor was great. He had her booked into and OR within an hour of our appointment. So she had emergency surgery monday afternoon. We didn't leave the hospital unil midnight on Monday and we are at my mom's now (Kidlet can't do stairs and both her dad and I have a min of 20 them at hour houses) and she is doing much better. Thanks for the emails all =)

Square One My Slate Is Clear
Alrighty, I have had a few people express interest in my hypnosis session and how that has gone and I said would write about it. I had the initial consult with Geoffrey where we talked about the diabetes and the fact that about the only "nice" thing I do for myself is tiramisu. Then we did a very short session to just get my subconscious going on the basics. Avoiding the 5 whites of sugar, flour, milk and milk cheeses, white pasta and white rice. Rice and sugar I rarely ate. Milk I do occasionally have and that one I agreed to "limit." Flour is not a biggie. I eat wheat or 7 grain breads happily and again limiting French breads is doable. Pasta I have no problem with the whole wheat version. The other thing is the slowing way way down and chewing more. Both of which I was horrible at. In my family if your food looked lonely on your plate, someone ate it. So going slow was not really an option.
Now as for the session, yes you are aware of where you are. You are aware of what is going on. The purpose is to disassociate your mind from your physical body and your conscious awareness. So while you know you are in a chair being hypnotized it is more like something you would notice out of the corner of your eye.
It's not really a case of you are getting sleepy either. It's more a relaxation technique. Then you walk down a stairway or an escalator and into a garden. By the time you get to your little chair in the garden you are pretty darn calm.
So last week was a quickie just to plant the seeds in the brain. This weeks will be much longer. The first session was roughly a half hour. This one will be and hour minimum. This one we get to examine my firm belief I was Hitler in another life and if I do anything nice for myself other than food, the shit will hit the fan.
Geoffrey also records the sessions and has you listen to them on your own at home. They work really well at bedtime.
As for the results, I have passed up cake several times this week. I find myself eating much slower and chewing more. I limited myself to guacamole, one tomale, a tiny bit of mole and beans at yesterdays Cinco De Mayo party. No sourcream. Shocking! Plus I skipped all the deserts there too including Key Lime cheesecake and triple chocolate raspberry cake. Plus I am not snacking all day long. I am going 5 hours between meals and actually eating when I feel hungry not just because it is "that" time.
Not checking weight yet and not doing a hard core diet as Geoffrey wants me to see the nutritionist first. Handily enough I do that the day before the second hypno appointment.
I'll catch you up on that one next week. And now, off to work. Sure hope it warms up enough to get some planting done this weekend!
