Is This How We Say Goodbye?
Warning, I am writing this late, I should go to bed, I have not had a day off since LAST Monday when I was sick. So I am being bad and being up late. I'll publish tomorrow but just know...it's dark and stormy and I am slightly loopy :P
So I love to drop movie recommendations on y'all and tonight is no different. While I did just see War, Inc and I will be writing about that (next weekend no doubt) I am pleased to report that today my mind is filled with one thing and one thing only. Danny Elfman and Herve Villachaize. I speak my friends of the little know cult movie gem, Forbidden Zone. Part Sci-Fi, Part Animation, Part Cab Calloway Fest this movie is a masterpiece. Before he became Movie Composer to every one and their dog, Danny was the lead singer of Oingo Boingo and one stylish crazy bastard. I give you Danny Elfman as The Devil. *** Oh yeah, there are full on naked boobs in this clip so porn haters beware. Oh and granny panties :P ***
Seriously folks, don't expect this to make any sense. It never will!
Now for something completely different. Best part of The Love Guru? Justin Timberlake. Seriously with a 'fro (which technically is not new) singing Celine Dion with a bad French Canadian accent.
Now you know I am gonna go there. That's right, it's an NSYNC video (Trav will watch at least!) Can I just say how amazing it is that Justin pitches for our team?! White boy can dance and he's cute. Usually that means we are screwed! Or not screwed as the case may be. And for the record, while I like them both, let's face it NSYNC owns Backstreet Boys and they owe that to Justin.
And finally what will be starting off my next guilty pleasures mix CD Justin with What Goes Around Comes Around
I am going to stop playing Solitaire now and drag my ass to bed :P

Drove Downtown In The Rain, 9:30 On Tuesday Night
Busy weekend, what with me working both days, buying flip flops from Old Navy for Kidlet and seeing War, Inc. (Cusack...me loves you) tonight with Mom. Some tunes that have been running full time on my playlist this week =)
Bare Naked Ladies - Brian Wilson (live) - I ADORE this song.
Talk Talk -Life's What You Make It - This is another one of those songs that is slightly hypnotic and I can listen to on repeat over and over.
INXS - Elegantly Wasted from the 1997 album of the same name. Michael's last. On my list of Top 3 best front men ever. Period.
More INXS - The Stairs - This like Elegantly Wasted is later (90's) INXS with this one from the album X released in 1990 -and it's my favorite INXS song although the video does make me tear up. He was so talented and died way too young.
The Black Crowes - Remedy - Close to being my favorite.
With this being my all time favorite - The Black Crowes - Thorn In My Pride

I Know A Girl Called Elsa She's Into Alka Seltzer
Title of today's post comes courtesy of Bud at WTIT and his play list which I was groovin to at work. Got to love headphones. My productivity goes up with high volume music. Supersonic!
We went to lunch today and hit the bookstore for a new read and I got the new David Sedaris book When You Are Engulfed In Flames and I am so excited.

David is humorist and and essayist. Here's a brief run down of the topics he covers in this one - trying to make coffee when the water is shut off, associations in the French countryside, buying drugs in a mobile home in rural North Carolina, having a lozenge fall from your mouth into the lap of a fellow passenger on a plane, armoring windows with LP covers to protect the house from neurotic songbirds, lancing a boil from his backside, and venturing to Japan in order to quit smoking.
Pretty eclectic eh? I have read several of his previous books including Me Talk Pretty One Day and Dress Your Family In Corduroy and Denim. He is laugh out loud funny. Essays require a specific talent, and David is a modern day Twain in my book. But perverted. And gay. But the rapier sharp wit it totally there and the ironic outlook as well.
So that is my train book. Kidlet and I are starting to get super excited. We see Billy Idol on Monday and then we take the train to Seattle on Wednesday morning and see Gorgeous George Wednesday night. I have seen some Rolling Stone reviews and he is getting raves. Just so long as he gives me my three F's everything will be cool. Faith, Father Figure and Freedom 90. Must have songs!
Our hotel is La Foo Foo and I got a killer rate for it for 3 nights. Same room is now 400 a night. Go me! It's a Kimpton Hotel so ya know is nice. We are right by Pike's Market and the Seattle Art Museum. Our plan is to see Georgie Wednesday night, hit the Music Experience Project on Thursday and then Pikes. Friday we are gonna chill out and then go see the Fireworks that night. Saturday morning we take the train home. Kidlet will be taking her camera and I will post pictures when I have them. Will definitely have pictures from Billy Idol. Kidlet's Semi Sort Step Brother is going with us. And my dad. We're eclectic too :P
And now for something completely different. This one from Kidlet's current play list.
Iron Maiden - Run To The Hills. Gotta love Eddie.

Boldly Going Indeed - TT #46
By now I am sure most of the world has read that Mr. Sulu of Star Trek fame is alter bound with his partner of many years. And I have heard from quite a few folks that they were totally in the dark about Mr Sulu's orientation. Well tsk tsk folks. Courtesy of my father I bring you 13 Signs You Should Have Known Sulu Is Gay. Those of you with sticks up your ass (not a homo joke :P) should be aware that this is most definitely NOT politically correct :P
1. Let's Uhuru navigate in return for her fabulous boots.
2. Routinely asks Dr. McCoy to show him why he is really called "Bones."
3. Course Setting of Choice - A quick touchdown on Uranus.
4. Frequently at Galactic Bar seeking "First Contact."
5. Memorized the complete book "Myra Breckinridge."
6. Phaser set to simper.
7. Strangely excited by the phrase "Big Dipper."
8. Keeps pet Tribble in bunk.
9. Dreams Shakespearean voiced Captain calls him "Number Two."
10. Dresses as Connie Chung at annual masquerade ball.
11. Course Speed - Warp Factor 69.
12. Fondles ear and purrs, " Tickle Me, Spock."
13. Urges Kirk to boldly go where other men have.
And there you have it folks. Warped humor courtesy of the Pater Familias.

I Just Hope You Have Your Reasons- WW 57

Yeah not so wordless, what can I say. I didn't get thrown out of Girl Scouts for following rules.
Recently discovered a new band courtesy of some crazy (in a good way) woman who interviewed a friend of David Cook. And thanks to Glozelle I have several new songs I am really digging. To Have Heroes is in reality one man, Andy Skib and Musical Mates as he puts it. I LOVE his songs. They are all available for purchase on his myspace page. Best $6.93 I have spent in a while. Take a listen and go check him out and then go visit his Music MySpace page. In this day and age of Hannah Montana and that crap called High School musical, good music needs our support!

My New Favorite Line
"You are fucked like a stray dog in Chinatown." - Celia's Public Defender on Weeds.
Nancy can pee in an empty plastic cup just like I can! I love Nancy. I mean she is an amoral selfish bitch with the mothering instincts of a wolverine, but highly entertaining.
So got Fios and after a mega cluster with the install of the outside lines it was a piece of cake with the actual install. The new remote control is outsmarting me which is highly insulting and a bit demeaning. I need Matt-Man to come over and whip the bitch into Ann Margaret shape. Matty, bring Schmoop we can drunken YouTube.
I still have a sinus headache cause the cottonwood is massivly blooming. It looks like snow outside. So the allergies suck and I feel like I have been punched in the eyes. It had me up most of Sunday night. Not fun. It's getting close to Seattle trip time and I am excited. Been hearing great reviews of George's concerts in Rolling Stone and online. It should be fun =)
Ok new guilty pleasure. Secret Diary of A Call Girl -Showtime of course. Billie Piper is adorable as Belle. She makes the short list on team switch candidates. I swear Showtime is the best television on television.

People Are Stupid
George Carlin - R.I.P.
May 12, 1937 – June 22, 2008

But George wasn't. George was funny as fuck and dead on in that uncomfortable make the masses squirm kinda way. Women against abortion? To ugly to fuck anyway. Reality TV? Hey lets turn Utah, Wyoming, Colorado and Kansas into a giant prison and televise executions! The hippie-dippie weather man and Bill and Ted's Coolest Adventure Guide. George was more than a comedian, he was a societal mirror who called us on our bullshit, much like Doc Gonzo.
So George I send you off with your very own words of wisdom.

At The Edge Of The Ocean We Can Start Over Again
So I am at work today. Out of practice on these Saturday work days. Editting and it is HOT in here today. Which sucks. Kidlet had a sleepover last night and I worked on a post for today but stupid Lifelogger didn't upload my damn songs like it SAID it did. So that totally fubar'd my actual post for the weekend. Bleh. So I had to pull brand new songs out my ass to share with you all. All of these are on the massive playlist I am currently blasting in my office. The perks of the weekend!
First up is Ivy a New York by way of Paris trio that I just loves. The song is Edge Of The Ocean.
Next up The Damned with a remake of a Love song, Alone Again Or
and last but not least, Matthew Sweet with Sick Of Myself

TT #45- I'm On My Way, I'm On My Way, Home Sweet Home
Ahh....the Power Ballad. That hair metal/hardrock staple that has lifted the careers of countless rockers, not to mention the skirts of more than a few rocker chicks.
Still Loving You - The Scorpions - Kings Of Kraut Rock.
Sister Christian - Night Ranger - Tell me this fucker does not get stuck in your head. To this day I still use the term "motoring" to mean get a move on. And to this day I can not say that out loud without bursting into song "You're motoring, what's your price for flight?" and the best part is that Kidlet does it too.
Alone Again - Dokken - Sue me I loved Don Dokken and I owned this album. Snickers? Eat my spandex :P
Don't Know What You Got Til It's Gone - Cinderella - I think the 80 were hands down the Decade Where Ugly Fuckers Got Poontang years.
Love Bites - Def Leppard - Of course it bites, you poured sugar on yourself ;) I will confess I love me some Leppard and I wore out two copies of Hysteria.
I'll Be There For You - The One and Only Bon Jovi. I like Bon Jovi. Again, sue me :P
Heaven - Warrant - Oh man, anyone got some crackers for this cheese?!
Love Hurts - Nazareth - An oldie but goodie. How many soundtracks has this mother been on?
Every Rose Has It's Thorn - Poison - Wow just how much plastic surgery has Bret had? It's like he is trapped in a wind tunnel from an 80's Video. This song holds a special place in my heart simply cause Todd used to do such a asstastical version of this. Usually while we were drunk. And he made me waltz to it. It was pretty special ;)
Carrie - Europe - I have never ever forgiven them for The Final Countdown. Holy shiz they suck!
November Rain - Guns N' Roses - If you look up the word "bombastic" in a dictionary this song will surely supply the soundtrack. It's over wrought, over produced and it fucking rocks. Slashes guitar solo at the end is on the short list of if I could play just one thing....
Sweet Child o' Mine - Guns N' Roses - Yes they get two and yes others on this list did more than one -Poison made a career out of a well timed panty dropper. That said, I adore GnR and it's my list. So nah. Appetite For Destruction was the first CD I ever bought for myself.
I bought it at Tower Records in Beaverton (when that still existed) in 1987 after I had just moved to Portland. I remember Jason and Todd staring at me with shock and awe as I played it, too. Neither of them were massive metal heads. But I was and an insomniac to boot. And I saw the first few air plays of Welcome To The Jungle and it was a wake up call. The next one wouldn't come until 1991 when we heard the opening guitar chords of Smells Like Teen Spirit.
And finally, the mother of all Power Ballads. Got your Bic's handy? Got your Goody Comb in your painter pants? Got your Rave hairspray and Wet n Wild Lip Gloss? Let's Go!
Home Sweet Home - Motley Crue - Motley gets their very own vid cause this song has it all and the video is like a tiny time capsule of the 80s' complete with white assless chaps.
Still Loving You - The Scorpions - Kings Of Kraut Rock.
Sister Christian - Night Ranger - Tell me this fucker does not get stuck in your head. To this day I still use the term "motoring" to mean get a move on. O Muse! Sing In Me, And Through Me Tell The Story
Ok we actually had a LOVELY weekend here in the PacNW. For a change. We might get a summer this year after all. I did not work. I was bad. I got mom and we went down to Adelman Peony Farm. I now have a MASSIVE bouquet of peonies....22 on my mantle and a single by my bedside. They are staying open an extra weekend and I am gonna drag Kidlet down next weekend for a refill and more pictures. Mom took a bunch. Isn't this amazing?! Look for pictures for Wordless Wednesday this week.
Damn I love The Verve. Yet another band that owns Chris Martin's scrawny chicken ass. Speaking of that, much love to the 25 different folks who landed here via web searching "Chris Martin is a twat." Great minds, people, great minds.
*Hugs* Richard Ashcroft.
Sunday I did laundry and made my addictive pasta and fought off a migraine ALL DAY LONG. Still semi had it yesterday and then to make matters worse I got up super early and accidentally took BOTH of my Metformin (diabetic meds) in the morning instead of 1 in the morning and 1 at night. Oops. Felt spaced out all day long. Kidlet spent the day with with her grandmother so we had dinner over there and gave my dad his Father's Day card.
Got home last night and was greeted by the single most pretentious sight I have ever seen, aka Chris Twatin on the cover of Rolling Stone. He gets his ROLLING STONE- THE INTERVIEW. But not by Jann Werner, I noticed. What was the last Rolling Stone Interview Jann did? What's that you say? BONO?! Ooooh.....didn't quite rate the big guy did ya Chris :P
Look at this - In case you are wondering he is dressed in this ridiculous outfit in a nod to the Delacroix painting on the cover of the CD, cause they SOOO intelligent y'all and SOOO arty and SOOO deep.

Now what made up for this site was the fact that kidlet and I defaced it pretty badly which was juvenile and satisfying at the same time. In addition there was a nice article about David Cook in the magazine and a much nicer picture to look at.
Once our RS vandalism was over, Kidlet and I settled in for Weeds!!!!! And it was GOOD. Albert Brooks is guest starring this season and Jonah and Andy's dad and he was hysterical. Nancy is looking like Running for the Boarder is gonna be her new day job and Celia is in the weeds so to speak. Excellent start to the season and I love the kid who plays Shane. And Kevin Nealon and Justin Kirk need Emmy's for this show.

And Now These Winter Skies Turn Blue And Bright
This is a quickie. I adore this band and most American's are not familiar with them. More's the pity, because Matt Johnson is a lyrical genius. He is as good....if not better....than Bono. Yeah I said it :p
The early morning sun lit up her room
But it wasn’t just a change in the weather
She’d read it in her stars and now she felt it in her heart
Life was gonna start getting better
And there was a time when she would pray
That each teardrop that rolled down her face
Would represent a day of pain for him
But now she’s changing the way she feels
About wasting her time and tears
Cried out, cried out, cried out
Cried out, cried out, cried out
And all the tricks and all the lies
He tried to pull over her eyes
Kept running through her mind
She looks back in disbelief
In confusion and in grief
At what his secrecy was revealing
You can scream into the pillow
You can pray into the night
But you can’t switch off your feelings
Like you’d switch out the light
But she’s changing the way she feels
About wasting her time and tears
Cried out, cried out, cried out
Cried out, cried out, cried out
And now these winter skies
Turn blue and bright
And she feels alive
And wants to drink every kiss
Make up for what she’s missed
And wipe him out of her mind
Some day he’ll have to grow up
And come clean
And listen to the screams
Of his own conscience
Cry out, cry out, cry out
... And she’ll not hear a sound
Update for John and Bud-
I have uploaded several of my favorite The The songs for you to listen to.
The The
The early morning sun lit up her room
But it wasn’t just a change in the weather
She’d read it in her stars and now she felt it in her heart
Life was gonna start getting better
And there was a time when she would pray
That each teardrop that rolled down her face
Would represent a day of pain for him
But now she’s changing the way she feels
About wasting her time and tears
Cried out, cried out, cried out
Cried out, cried out, cried out
And all the tricks and all the lies
He tried to pull over her eyes
Kept running through her mind
She looks back in disbelief
In confusion and in grief
At what his secrecy was revealing
You can scream into the pillow
You can pray into the night
But you can’t switch off your feelings

A Bag Of Songs And A Heavy Heart
So I finally got Rockferry by Duffy. I have posted a few of her songs before and I have been waiting impatiently for the entire album. Oh my goodness. Let me quote Rolling Stone mag, "Your move Winehouse." This girl is golden. I LOVE this album. Like Amy Winehouse, Duffy channels the best of Soul and R&B from the 60's. The comparisons to Dusty Springfield are apt. If Amy Winehouse is the black eyeliner wearing bad girl ala the Shangri La's then Duffy (who's name coincidentally is Aimee) is the good girl right down to the golden hair.
Rockferry is a very strong debut. Along with Mercy and the single Rockferry there are several other stand outs. First up, Warwick Avenue. Love this song, it has such a nice lilting sound to the verses and then I love the way the chorus builds.
Another song I adore is Syrup and Honey. This is a song for sitting on your porch with a cold drink on a warm night.
For my last sample for you I am going with Serious. Love the guitar on this one. It's chiming and has an echo to it that is really compelling. Bernard Butler is Duffy's guitarist and co writer on the album. He has said in the past that Johnny Marr was an influence and boy can you tell on this song. I love the fact that a song called Serious, refuse to take itself too seriously =)
All in all a very strong album. While none of her songs show the sheer genius of say You Know I'm No Good, the album itself is far more consistent than Amy Winehouse's Back to Black. Each song stands on it's own but taken as a whole with a sit down listen they flow nicely into great listening.
And now, I am off to watch O' Brother because it is on and as we all know I am incapable of changing the channel when this movie is on. Delmar is currently being saved. Thank you lord for giving us The Coen Brothers.

Chris Martin Is A Twat - Now With Added Douchieness!
Scroll down for truly fresh post. Two today, oh my!
Previously on I Hate Chris:
And he will never ever be Bono. If I have to see that fucking iTunes commercial one more time where he copies Bono's mannerisms I will fucking shoot my TV ala Elvis.
And he needs to stop dreaming about my front man. And take the stupid bits of tape off your friggin hand and get pictures of your wife and kids. You twee regurgitator of other peoples styles.
That is all :P
UPDATED! 6/13/2008....I rest my case. Oh and the reference at the end to his saying the band was going to go away for a long time? Tell us Chris...were you going to "dream it up all over again?" U2 fans will get that one.
WHAT A TWAT!
Los Angeles (E! Online) - If the best way to measure the growth of a band is by the tantrums thrown by its frontman, then Coldplay just reached the next plateau of their career.
Adding "the music" to the list of topics that are off-limits to query him on (joining wife Gwyneth Paltrow and their kids as interview no-fly zones), the otherwise mellow Chris Martin stormed out of a radio interview with the BBC Thursday, claiming the interviewer was "journalistically twisting" his words and that he was flat-out "not really enjoying this."
Read on to hear the moment the hissy fit hit...
Martin's boiling point came just nine minutes into the piece, and he left fellow bandmate Will Champion to finish out the majority of the interview before returning to answer one final question.
The duo was being interviewed by John Wilson for BBC Radio 4's cultural arts program, Front Row, when Wilson began a line of questioning related to the title of Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, and the band's presumed preoccupation with death.
"I wouldn't agree with you there at all, no," Martin said. "I'd say you're journalistically twisting me into saying something I don't really mean."
A few minutes later, Wilson asked about the lyrics of "Viva La Vida," the first single. After some shifting at the microphone, Martin said he was "not really enjoying this" and asked if he could take two minutes before getting up and walking out of the studio.
"I just don't really like having to talk about things," he said.
"Have I upset him?" Wilson asked Champion. "I don't think I said anything consciously..."
"No, I don't think so," the drummer said without missing a beat and answering the question posed to his bandmate.
The interview fared no better at the start (or end, for that matter), when Wilson at the outset asked Martin about comments he made at an awards show back in 2005 in which he said the group would be away "for a very long time."
"I always say stupid things, and I think Radio 4 is the place that will most remind me of that," he said.
Upon his brief return to the studio at the end of the show, he was asked a seemingly banal question about finding "new musical territory" on the new album.
"Um...yes, yes, yes...exactly."
Viva la moodiness.
Martin has a chance to redeem himself with the broadcasting giant later today, as he's scheduled to appear on another radio show on a separate BBC station."

OH HELL YES!!!
It just dawned on me that Weeds Season 4 starts Monday night! HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY! Weeds and Dexter are the best thing on TV. Now then if you have not watched Weeds (what the fuck is wrong with you?!) you MUST MUST MUST head to a video store or Netflix and get season 1-3 now. Still sitting there going "yeah yeah Starr sure whatever?" Well bite me and watch the following. Oh and if your are easily offended, blah blah blah, go away :P

I Am The Ghost Of Troubled Joe
Yawn
Stupid cats woke me up super early. Although I do have to leave the house at 10 today so I suppose it is ok. Mom is back from Hawaii (lucky beyotch...yeah I said it Mom!) and I am going to stop off and get coconut syrup at the store and kidlet and I are going over for presents and Hawaiian breakfast. I get to splurge every once in a while. So far with the hypnosis suggestions I am down...11 pounds. And I cheat. Hell I ate at Gustav's German restaurant! I swear to you Geoffrey is a miracle worker.
I had my second session last week and have been digesting what I learned. While we didn't work directly on losing weight, what he did do is a past life regression to see if there were any food issues. See in my family food equals love. Now interestingly enough he took me back to my babyhood to a time the biological father was feeding me and apparently I was not eating fast enough and he took my food away. Now I have had vague memories of this all my life, so it was interesting to see it in it's entirety.
Now as for actual past lives, we did go back and I was pretty much a nobody and I really didn't have "Food Issues" aka starvation, famine etc. What I did have and still do have is issues with the dread word should. As in you should do this, I should do that, etc etc. I internalize way to many peoples shoulds and totally ignore my own instincts. And that all ties into my disinclination to do things for myself other than tiramisu since everyone SHOULD eat...that is ok. I can turn rationalization into an Olympic sport. No ones fault other than mine of course as I am the one in control of what I choose to accept. And from here on out other peoples should can get fucked :P
Peace globe day was inspiring this year for the most part. Althought there are always those who indulge in the art of futility. Cop out. Sorry folks, it just is. If you really think there is nothing that can change the world, go lay down infront of a bus and remove your parasitic self.
On that note, I am looking forward to yet another charitable endeavor. It found me, rather than me finding it which is always so much nicer. As you know, I have been totally fan girling out over Mr. Cook aka Best Idol Evah. Most folks who follow Idol also know his brother has brain cancer. His fan base, which is a pretty damn cool one all in all, has been working cross country to raise money for the American Cancer Society. A group of us here in Portland and vicinity are going to get together and raise money for this years Relay for Life. Which just happens to be the day after the concert. I'll be letting you all know how you can make Starr a very happy little fangirl and donate. Our fearless leader has asked permission to use a post of mine from way back as a motivational tool. I had not read that entry for a long time. Sometimes I can write rather well. Who knew?
An Optimistic Thought

TT #44 - I Can Sing My Song Again
Today I bring you Thirteen very special songs. Call it "mood" music if you will. Certain songs that would be my choice for certain real life and purely imaginary situations. These would be my choices!
1. My current Karaoke Rock Goddess Wish I Was Pat Benetar sing along whilst driving,
Axium - Callout.
2. If your mama here ever went the pole dancer route this would so be my song as it is seriously tasty funk. White Zombie - Boogie Man
3. I love to cook. It's like therapy for me and I have a particular weakness for French and Italian food. Which must be why my favorite music to cook by comes from an Irishman. Van Morrison - Into The Mystic
4. Road Rage. Who hasn't felt it? And when you are on the road and pondering if life in jail would really be *that* bad, nothing beats Korn - Twisted Transistor.
5. Sometimes I just feel a little like I missed 60B and get myself into a funk. When that happens it is time to wallow with I Nine -Same In Any Language
6. My all time favorite stare at a tropical ocean view song is, hands down, Moby - Porcelain.
7. I can lower my blood pressure and calm down from virtually any irritant by listening to The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony
8. But sometimes I don't want to calm down. Sometimes humanity just plain pisses me off. For those days I go with Get Set Go - Die Motherfucker Die. (It's a pretty little song in actuality!)
9. To fall asleep there is nothing better than Enya in general and Orinoco Flow in particular. This was kidlet's bedtime music from birth to 8. And since I have not ripped Enya to my computer yet, YouTube to the rescue!
10. What do I wake up to everyday? Well my cell phone is my alarm and every morning I wake up to The Bononator telling me it will be A Beautiful Day - U2
11. Now the burning question in everyone's mind is "What does Starr, vintage goth that she is, most like to wear black to?" Trick question since I wear black virtually every day. But for our special occasions only the sisters will do, Sisters of Mercy -Temple of Love the 1992 Remix featuring Ofra Hazra.
12. What music do I like to break up to? There's a deep questions. Now I have been through my share of breakups and I can honestly say Sheryl Crow's The Globe Session album covers it all. Sheryl Crow - It Don't Hurt live featuring The Dixie Chicks.
The electric man looks good today
Maybe not, but I'm trying hard
Trying hard to feel that way
The electric man's a good place to start.
13. And finally what is my favorite background while I am reading and or writing music? Jazz. Hands down. Billie Holiday is going to represent here for us with Come Rain Or Come Shine.

Children By The Millions Sing For Alex Chilton
Rush was the win. Seriously the win. We froze our asses off, cause in Whoregon and it's kissing cousin Washedouton June 1st means 50 degrees by 7 and rain. Woot! Festival weather man!
Neil Peart did his uber drum solo and Kidlet and I suspect he is not human. He is the bionic drummer. There is a very good reason he leads virtual every list of best drummer. Cause he is.
I was blessed by the Baby Jesus and did not run into my past last night. In my mind I am still 23 and he is still 25. And I aim to keep it that way.
I am suffering from Post Idol Let Down syndrome. Reruns blow. House and Bones? Rerun. Thank God Weeds starts soon!
And now on to the "Hey, this shit is on my playlist!" portion of our post. A random sampling of my way back play back list.
The Replacements- Alex Chilton. There are a few of us Gen Xer's on the fangirl boards that totally want DC to go here. Yeah I said it. So any diehard Gen X poster children for snobbery can bite me :P
The Lemonheads - It's A Shame About Ray. More like it's a shame about Evan. Dude..Heroin is so....well, see the video after yours.
The Dandy Warhols - Not If Your Were The Last Junkie. Local band and Courtney Taylor Taylor blows Evan out of the water on the cuteness scale. Kidlets Favorite Dandy's song! Oh they are playing at the Roseland this month.....
Sugar - If I Can't Change Your Mind. The Book End of Minnesota Bands that matter that began with The Replacements. Well, Bob Mould via Husker Du. LOVE this song to death!

It Seems To Me I Could Live My Life A Lot Better Than I Think I Am
YAY Rush in concert!! So very happy. The weather, of course, sucks ass. (Warning children, mommy is going to be swearing today.)It's June first in Whoregon so ya just know it has to be 50 fucking degrees and raining. Yay!
Concert is outdoors at the the Clark County Amphitheater. Kidlet and I have covered seats, thank goodness. Somehow I managed to miss seeing Rush in the 80's. I am somewhat of an anomaly in that there are not too many women out there who like Rush. Or Prog Metal. But then again I had some seriously weird taste in music in highschool. Steely Dan to Sex Pistols to Duran Duran. In high school it was pretty much me and a few metal chicks who liked Rush. Prog Rock is not a big draw for the laydays. Idiots :P
I don't like all prog rock, mind you. Like Yes. I fucking hate Yes. I want to crush Roger under my foot like a little insect. Had to listen to them a lot too as the guys were into them. Don't care much for Alan Parsons Project either. He shot his wad producing Floyd. And Floyd may be called "progressive" or "art" rock by some, but in my world they are in a class by themselves.
But I have many many fond memories of with Rush as the soundtrack. Plus from reading other concert set lists it would appear they are doing 2112 overture and Priests! Hot Dayum! Found the setlist on line and man is this going to be a looong concert:
Video Intro (features all 3 band members)
Limelight
Digital Man
Ghost of a Chance
Mission
Freewill
The Main Monkey Business
The Larger Bowl (with McKenzie Brothers intro)
Red Barchetta
The Trees
Between The Wheels
Dreamline
Intermission
Video Intro (What's That Smell? features all 3 members, Jerry Stiller)
Far Cry
Workin' Them Angels
Armor And Sword
Spindrift
The Way The Wind Blows
Subdivisions
Natural Science
Witch Hunt
Malignant Narcissism
Drum Solo
Hope
The Spirit of Radio
2112: Overture / The Temples of Syrinx
Tom Sawyer (with South Park intro)
Encore:
One Little Victory
A Passage to Bangkok
YYZ
Video Outro (Alex, Neil, Jerry Stiller)
From the streets of Eugene Oregon where we would terrorize folks with water filled fire extinguishers while cruising in a Dodge Duster or Buick Regal to the deck of ship going from Brindisi, Italy to Patras, Greece the Gedster and Company figure in. Listening to it now is very much flashback city. -Side note, never spray the daughter of a judge right in the ass crack while she is on a bicycle with a high pressure water device. Judges are cranky!
Oddly enough I would not choose to be teen again, but I would rank 1985 as probably one of my all time favorite years. Especially that summer. That was the summer I spent in Europe and it was the summer before Todd went to college and everything got fucked up. So yeah, it ranks as one of those special years. There were good times after that but the drama involved was unfortunately a bit too real rather than "real world" if you get my drift. That said, I hope to hell that a certain someone does NOT spot me tonight. Somethings are better left unsaid.
Dammit, now I gotta buy Hall and Oates :P
Since Lifelogger is a pestilent whore, y'all get YouTubed.
