Dammit!!

I forgot to drink last night. Bah. Hum. Bug.

I did vacuum, clean the bathrooms, finish the last minute packing, take out all of the garbage, clean the cat box, pack the cat stuff, send the cats to my parents house, finish ripping 4 cd's and doing the iTunes, water the front porch flowers and water the back porch flowers. All between 6:30 and 10. Thank goodness today is only at 10 hour day. By the time I clock out I will have 32 hours for this week and it is only Tuesday!

Not surprisingly I went to bed early.

Tonight is sleepover at PDX time! I have crosswords and a book to read so I am set on that account. The final errand I have is to stop at the Mac Store and get a wall charger for the iPods. Then I swing home for a final watering of the flowers and to pull the garbage cans in and then head over to Mom's. My plan is to shower there and eat and then have dad take me to the airport. And by this time tomorrow I will be sitting in a nice Hawaiian airlines plane headed to the land of Aloha!

Update

First off, no Kidlet was not on the trains that collided in DC. She had been on them right before it happened but all is fine there.

Second off, HOLY SHIT I NEED A DRINK.

Third off, I intensly dislike having to be organized and disciplined. It sucks ass.

Fourth off, Did I mention the drink?

11 hour yesterday at the office, 11 today and 10 tomorrow plus my final errand. Then a night at the airport, which, quite frankly is sounding soothing and peaceful right about now. I shit you not. Then again I love airports. They smell like escape =)

She's A Natural Disaster, She's The Last Of The American Girls

Cause I am one. I got to the office at 4:30 am after taking Kidlet to the airport. We slept, oh maybe an hour tops. If that. So basically I have been up now for 24 hours. Coffee! STAT!!

Kidlet's plane got out on time and other than needing to get a wall charger for the iPods, a refill of one of my meds and a 1 GB memory card for her camera I am pretty much packed. One duffel bag. Cause Starr travels light. I mean it's Hawaii. What do I need other than some lounge pants skirts and a swim suit? Not much.

'Cept Rum =)

I am tracking Kidlet's plan. Man do they have a killer schedule. Reminds me of Starr's European Vacation with the killer schedule. They eat breakfast every day at either 7 or 730 and then they are gone from the hotel until 10-10:30 at night. I'll update her itinerary later on. I did set them up with a blogger blog for those that are interested in viewing their trip. Hopefully they will add stuff to it when they make it back to their hotels!

DC Or Bust Blog

As for me, I am working 10 today, tomorrow I am sleeping in then redoing Kidlet's closet and doing laundry. Running my errands for the above mentioned items, and packing the cats over to my parents. Sunday I work 12 hours. Mon and Tues I do 10 hours. I have 8 hours from working Memorial Day that I get to use for my Wednesday hours which puts me at 40 hours total. Next week I get paid for a whopping 18 hours cause Kidlet's headaches kill my time off. On the plus side, I did scope out where Kidlet and I are gonna crash next Tuesday night AND Beaverton Bakery opens up way early in the morning in the airport. I was able to get coffee at 3:45.

And now I leave you with yet another of my favorites from the new Green Day. Last of the American Girls and it's Live no less from the Fox Theater.

You Can Look But You Can't Touch

Listening to my main Girl Crush, Ms Shirley Manson. Love Garbage. Gwen Steffani/No Doubt suck ass in comparison.

Meeting tonight to get DC itinerary and name tags and hopefully her fundraiser cash. We are in the middle of list making week at Casa Starr. Zip Locked Quart Sized Bags? Check. Multiple 3 once bottles? Check. She gets to check her bags to DC but round trip bag check for each of us to Hawaii is 64 bucks. So carry on it is.

We are going pretty much without any tourist plans. Maybe the horseback ride. Definately Puka Dog and the artist colony. I am looking forward to NOT HAVING A PLAN.

Let's see. I still have not made it to anyone's site. Cause I suck and I have literally NO free time. I get home and crash when I am not juggling Kidlet's schedule here and there. As Desert noted I really need a vacation cause I am hard core dragging ass.

I am writing this on my 15 min break at the office which I am actually taking today. Usually I take about a 20 min lunch and that is it. 4 months behind as of today. Working on February groups. LOL.

Whatever.

I did manage to get most of the songs I wanted on my iPod. Yet another reason I have not been visiting. If I am on my computer I am ripping CD's and building play lists. I still have almost 2 gigs left to fill but I have not yet started on Kidlet's CDs. Which include the Beatles. That is gonna be a chunk. And her Glam bands. OH....and we just got the best of Def Leppard. Gotta have that. So yeah, that has been my free time.

Summer is shaping up fun. Kidlet and I agree that the pinnacles of our year will be Hawaii, Green Day (thanks mom!) and Blink 182. Oh and Weezer. Me loves Weezer.

HEY! My iPod agrees. Just started East Jesus Nowhere by Green Day. It's been very Social Distortion oriented today. Glad it is branching out.

Oh and Weeds tonight!! Love that show =)

Nude Noodle Model Parlor In The Nefarious Zone

Holy Shit. THIS is a Tango. There are often great dances on Dancing With The Stars but So You Think You Can Dance is leaps and bounds (HAR! Dance pun!) a better show for dance. These two are professionals. Every week they will feature different dance styles from around the world. Uncle Nigel puts on a damn fine dance show.

I would LOVE to be able to dance like that. More than money I think have that talent would be seriously awesome.

Got my Rolling Stone with the Glambert on the cover. That boy is Hawt with a Capital H. Not playing for my team, but hey he did fess up to possibly being bi-curious. Millions of women have new hope in their heart. His brother calls him a "glittery alien from Planet Fierce" and I agree.

8th Grade Grad was entertaining. Man her principal is a tool. Mush Mouthed Tool at that. We had dinner with my parents before the ceremony then met up with her Dad and his GF. Then we all got numb bum on those damn narrow wood bleachers. Mubble Man gave a suitably uninspired Stairway to Heaven themed "speech." Or mumble. Kidlet's Dad was rolling his eyes. I told him I was glad he was there cause I felt like less of a bitch =)

Child O Mine got two giant bunches of flowers (one from me one from her dad...and we somehow managed to color coordinate!) a brand new version of her favorite purse (she calls it precious) and the Wayfarer glasses I covet. Oh and her dad gave her a hundred bucks. I got her a couple of her ever popular band t-shirts (Green Day and a truly awesome Mozzer Posse shirt with Morrisey on it) and a bottle of French Lilac perfume. We still don't know how much she gets from the Fund Raiser. Hopefully I will get the cash on Monday.

Let's see. Weekly schedule. Dance for small child tomorrow. Saturday we are taking Harley and Gabe to visit with their "sisters" over at my mom's house since they will be there while we are in Hawaii. Mom has a house/cat sitter who comes in when we go to Aloha Land.

Sunday sees Kidlet, one of her BFF's and Moi will working with Cascade AIDS project in the Portland Pride Parade. We are walking with the CAP team. Then Kidlet goes to her dad's for the week until Thursday night when I get her back and we do our hell night. We have to be up at 2am so we can be at the airport by 4am for her flight to DC.

The Hawaii counter is now under 2 weeks. WOOT! Kidlet is taking her computer so I will blog and post some pictures while we are there. Maybe :P

I am such a Blog Tease. I leave you with Citizen Strummer an the Mescaleros and another Tangolicious song.

Hold On To Yourselves Cause Starr Is Going Political

Kidlet was possibly going to be visiting the Holocaust Museum on her upcoming DC trip. It is interesting to ponder that given the shooting there. I came across this article by Michael Rowe on Huffington Post and it really sums up my feelings on being American in this day and age.

We have no honor anymore. We have a shit ton of false vanity but not a lot of bone deep do the right thing honor. Patriotism and Jesus have both been hijacked by a collective of money hungry people who operate on fear and the need for a bigger Hummer. I am posting the article in full because he sums up where I stand. Sorry if this offends my Republican friends as I know most of them to be truly decent people who's internal motives and values are not reflected by the likes of Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly. Cheer up guys, we Dems lived with Bubba and Carter. We feel your pain. Oh and if Obama taxes benefits after tsk tsking McCain I am personally sending hate mail to the White House. And his Kool Aide drinking fan boi and girls better wake up an realize that one person is never that perfect.

Ann Coulter, the self-described "conservative Christian" right-wing talking head, is much on my mind as I contemplate the horrifying images that came out of Washington from the Holocaust Museum, where white supremacist James von Brunn opened fire in an attempted mass-murder of Jews. His killing spree was cut short by security guard Stephen Tyrone Jones who put himself in the line of fire and died so others might live.
I am remembering an
October 2007 segment of the Donny Deutsch Show where Coulter asserted that America would be better off if everyone was Christian and that "the Jews" merely needed to be "perfected" through conversion.
Coulter has made her fortune by generating, fanning, and nurturing hatred and contempt for a variety of people, including liberals, Democrats, gays, foreign nationals, 9/11 widows, feminists, single mothers, Muslims, and any other group she could throw to her disenfranchised readership as shark bait.
To Coulter, referring to Jews as "imperfect" on a talk show hosted by an observant Jewish host must have seemed like just another day at the office. Coulter shook her blond hair and tittered, as though waiting to be found witty, charming, and adorably irascible. Oh Ann, you minx! You're just pushing everyone's buttons, aren't you? Shame on you, you dead-sexy fascist pin-up. Stop teasing. You don't really mean that. I mean, not really, right? Right?
Deutsch, clearly appalled, pointed out that the comment was not only patently absurd, but also hateful. Coulter giggled. A gold crucifix gleamed against her bony clavicle. "No," she said, "it's not hateful at all."
This week, nearly two years later, James von Brunn, driven by his own twisted version of Coulter's publicly-proclaimed perspectives regarding the "imperfection" of Jews, entered the Holocaust Museum in Washington and put them into action, with tragic and deadly consequences.
Much the same thing happened on May 31st when Scott Roeder entered the Reformation Lutheran Church during Sunday services and slaughtered abortion provider provider Dr. George Tiller. Media analysts continue to explore a possible continuum between Tiller's murder and FOX host Bill O'Reilly's well-documented on-air tirades against the doctor, whom he repeatedly called "Tiller the Baby Killer." O'Reilly broadcast his vendetta to millions and millions of FOX viewers already infected with evangelical superstitions and a horror of science, especially science as it applies to a woman's right to choose.
If O'Reilly had been a serious journalist or broadcaster instead of a sclerotic, chronically-aggravated right-wing rage pimp, he might have had the professional self-awareness or ethical sense to realize that he was putting George Tiller's life in danger over the more than 28 broadcasts in which he used Tiller's name. But O'Reilly, like, for Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, and indeed Coulter herself (to name only the gratin of that particular food chain) is neither of those things.
As a group, they are the pop culture equivalent of necrotic carrion beetles, crawling with insectile determination from one infected open wound in the American psyche to another. The wounds include fear of race, fear of foreigners, fear of sexuality, fear of difference, hysterical religious fundamentalism, violent nationalism, and paranoia. They lay their eggs in the infected abrasion, then scuttle away. When the eggs hatch, disgorging rage and discontent, they start counting money.
When challenged on the inherently destructive nature of their enterprise, they invariably claim that their First Amendment right to free speech is being abrogated. Or, like Ann Coulter defensively does in those instances, they cite their place on the New York Times bestseller list. Or the ratings. In other words, since people buy it, watch it, or listen to it in huge numbers, it must have merit, and it must be right.
The difference between John McCain and Sarah Palin became clearest to me in the middle of the campaign last summer.
At a town hall meeting, McCain was confronted by an elderly woman who told McCain that she was a supporter of his because Obama was "an Arab." McCain was clearly uncomfortable, and it was patently obvious why. It had nothing to do with McCain's feelings about Arabs. It had to do with an old-school Republican accidentally moving the rock, and coming face to face with what actually lived beneath it. He recognized that the woman was making an unambiguously racist statement about his opponent, and he was mortified to be asked to answer it. Even though McCain famously and horribly bungled his answer ("No ma'am, he isn't. He's a decent family man.") I knew when he meant. He was addressing the intended racial slur and disavowing it, however badly.
In that moment, I felt deeply for my Republican friends who, on some level, must also be experiencing the embarrassment and discontent of recognizing that their party had been hijacked by racists and religious fanatics who derided education and achievement as "elitist."
Sarah "Screw the Political Correctness" Palin, on the other hand, seemed right at home. She marched into those same crowds grinning and winking, and "Yoo betcha-ing" like she was onstage at the Miss Alaska pageant. While her supporters waved watermelon slices and stuffed monkeys, Palin talked about who the "real Americans" were, and who was "palling around with terrorists." She refused to address the blatant racism of her fans, or address the obvious exploitation of Obama's middle name, Hussein, and the implication she herself was making with her "terrorist" comments.
She was, after all, playing to the accurately-named Republican "base," the same crowd to whom George Bush had sold his second presidential term by pandering to their darkest and most cowardly aspect. This time out it was fear of gay marriage and adoption, carefully tended fear of another 9/11, fear of more fallout from a war they still didn't believe he'd lied about.
One can almost appreciate the horrible honesty of the racists among the McCain-Palin supporters who were able to admit what the others obfuscated: that they didn't want a black man in the White House. Certain videos from their rallies are deeply disturbing. They showcase the seething racism of her most ardent followers.
History has already recorded their obsession with Obama's origins, his religious background, and his citizenship, which remains an obsession among them today.
Obama's citizenship was reportedly also something of an obsession for von Brunn, and likely very much on his mind when he walked into the museum and opened fire to make a statement about what "his" America ought to look like. I have no trouble imagining which radio stations he listened to, or which pundits best represented his baseline political ideology. And why. Even FOX's Shep Smith has said he's disturbed by the escalating virulence and menace of the anti-Obama emails the station is receiving.
There was a time when decency, even honor, was an essential part of the American dialogue in its most ideal form, and part of its very identity. There was a time when our culture would have recoiled in horror at the vituperation flowing unchecked from radios, televisions, and the Internet, instead of applauding it as "common sense," "free speech," or "mavericky," or "a spin-free zone."
There was a time when intellectual honesty was not considered unpatriotic; when compassion for, and understanding of, your fellow man was a sign of strength, not weakness. There was a time when the phrase Have you no shame? meant something, and the First Amendment was not used as toilet paper to wipe up the excremental verbal degradation of vulnerable segments of the American population. A time when it was expected that citizens would understand the difference between free speech and irresponsible speech.
There is no Environmental Protection Agency to measure hate pollution in national dialogue, and no mechanism in place to warn us when the poisonous rage spewed into the national consciousness by shock-jocks, poisonous television pundits, megachurch leaders, and oh-so-subtle politicians, has reached dangerously toxic levels.
No, there is only the result: widows, orphans, collective grief, and an absolute refusal on the part of our loudest, coarsest voices to take any responsibility for their part in the carnage.

Say Praise Jebus!

Nancy Botwin and gang are back! I love Weeds. Love love LOVE that show. And the new season got started off with a bang. Snappy dialogue (gotta love Doug and Uncle Andy) and for once a pregnancy does not seem to be fucking up the story line. And I love kidnapped Celia.

Went back to work after a week off with Sickie. Who had her MRI last week. Should have the results Wednesday or Thursday.

8th grade graduation is Wednesday night, we will be doing dinner and then the ceremony. My mother got her a truly bitchin pair of Ray Ban Wayfares. I be am jealous.

Let's see, what else. Uh...I have short timers for Hawaii. I have way too much shit to do before then. Oh...have to have kidlet at the airport at 4 AM...AS IN MORNING...the day she flies out to DC. 4AM. FOUR FUCKIN AM. Then I get to go to work. Remember that this is the same trip where in she flies in at 11:30 PM and we spend the night at the airport. I am gonna need that first Mai Tai.

Hrrmm....work...Still behind. Like ridiculously, stupidly behind. It pisses me off to be behind. I hate having to work for a living but if I do I damn sure want to do it as well as I possibly can and this situation is annoying the ever living shit out of me. Forced incompetence is annoying.

What else. OH....my lovely flower pots are blooming nicely and my back deck balcony has purdy flowers on it courtesy of Mama San.

OH OH OH!!! Saturday after I dropped off Kidlet at her dad's house, my dad and I saw The Ramones Rock and Roll High School on the 30th anniversary. PJ Soles was there as well (she played the main character Riff Randal) and she did a question and answer. We got Kidlet's End of the Century book autographed by PJ for her. Funniest question asked was the very first. Guy behind me wanted to know how stoned Dee Dee was ;)

On that note I shall sign off for the night with the finale of Rock and Roll High School.

Thursday Thirteen - 13 Reasons I Have Not Posted.

Howdy all. I am back. Sorta kinda. This is really a piss poor excuse for a post but I am going there anyhow. Cause it's my blog and I whine if I want too :P

1. As you all know I had a house guest for 2 weeks. I got her hooked on reality TV. Seriously, Make Me A Super Model, So You Think You Can Dance (Trav - look for my email soon!) and of course Idol. She was here for Finale Week aka The Week Adam Lambert Got Robbed.

2. See Above. This is not repetitious dammit it is building on an existing theme. I was pissy post Idol and decided to spare you all my bitchy blog post ala Idol.

3. I have been out of the house a lot. Did Blog Fest NW (which was a blast) and then my guest arrived and we like, went out and had drinks and stuff.

4. Work. Yes when Kidlet is not a human migraine (which is a lot poor kid) then I am at work trying to cram a 50 hour week into 40. New Green Day album is most helpful for that as it KICKS ASS and makes me go fast.

5. I spent a weekend making Tamale with friends. Spent the rest of the weekend eating them. And I mean home made. We shredded 4 pounds of pork by hand.

6. Spent another weekend with the parentals planting my front area and then a bunch of potted plants. Then hit the Peony Farm for my yearly pilgrimage to get my favorite flowers. Then got sick and BRAT KIDLET called my mother to narc on my 104 temp. I still have chest crud. It sucks.

7. Spent a Sunday evening drinking Frozen Swirl Margarita. Traditional margaritas swirled as frozen Sangria. DAMN FREAKIN TASTY.

8. Spent several other evening watching tv (See above where I turned Hope into a Pop Culture TV Ho) drinking a seriously freaking yummy beer cocktail. Yeah cocktail. It's a Texas drink, y'all. Ya put a couple ice cubes in a glass, add a shot of Rose's Lime Juice, pour in a bottle of Sol Beer and shake in a couple dashes of Lime Flavored Salt. DEE-Lightful.

9. Mentally I am tired. I have not posted or visited because i think I had hit the wall on making conversation. If that makes any sense. I am looking forward to the two weeks out of the freakin state.

10. Too many errands. It never fails that I end up having to go the doctor's, the pharmacy and the banks all on the same damn day.

11. I have been reading a lot lately and have had a hard time dragging myself to the Net. Well except for the MJ's cause I have to keep up on my reality shiz.

12. It has been GORGEOUS here. Like freaky nice given that it is Rose Festival. So we have been out driving (Al Gore is not amused) and blasting the new Green Day album. Have I mentioned that it is a totally kick ass album? How bout that concert? WOOHOOO!!

13. I am an organized woman at work and at home with my job and kid. All of which flies right in the face of my actual nature which is classic 90's slacker. Someone give me a flannel shirt and a latte.
