Little Bag Of Bones Been Out All Night

I wish. I just feel like I have been out all night. I don't remember what I dreamed, but it must not have been a hell of a lot of fun since I feel like I have been hit by a truck.

Last day of the month, which means work is chaos. I wish I could be like Douglas Adams and love the whooshing sound deadlines make as they go by. Unfortunately, I may not define myself by my job, but I am cursed with the Greek work ethic. This is nothing compared to finding myself washing baseboards with a sponge and realizing I have turned into my Grandmother!

Java!

Oh...REM. I love them =)

You Can Look Deep Into My Eyes, Like I Was A Supermodel...Uh Huh

That damn song sticks in my head everytime. Plus it brings on Star Trek cravings. TV is bleak as hell tonight, so I am hoping there is something decent on one of the multiple premium channels I pay such a pretty penny for. Idol is tacky as heck, but wildly entertaining all the same. Oh...I watched the 20 Sexiest Southern Men special on CMT. I am such a sucker for Southern men, it's pathetic. But in my defense, the only two guys in my life who were not part of that 15 year stretch of seriously coma inducing sex, were Southern. A coincidence? I think not.

I don't have to drive downtown today, say thankya. I am scheduling in a pit stop for beer and then home to be a couch potato. Whee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We Don't Need No Stinking Motivation

Well I actually took yesterday off. No work at all. Kidlet and I hung out at home and then had dinner with the parentals and grandparental at Gustav's. Fondue is win. I LOVE fondue.

Got here early today and I am trying to sort out printing and editting. Cold in here as per usual. I shoulda got food before heading in here. Least I have coffee. Alrighty...eye strain here I come!

Get It Like You Like It

Man I hate this state. I sound like a broken record to those who know me, but fuck em. I hate this state and I have for well over 25 years now. Case in point...holiday weekend. It's 51 degrees and pouring rain. I LOATHE rain. Actually I hate cold more than rain. Some rain can actually be fun. Last weekend we had a full on 70 degree with thunderstorm rain. Reminded me of the South. Cause when I say rain, I mean rain. It came down like a sheet. Half the sky was sunny, the other half had lightning. It was most cool. And it was over in about 15 mins and then it cleared up. And it was warm the whole time. I can deal with that. Cold just sucks. 7 more years and I am outta here. I am gonna move to Atlanta and spend the rest of my life with lovely heat and humidity. That was not sarcasm by the way...I LIKE humidity.

At work per the usual. I pick the kidlet up at 1 and we are going to see X Men. That is one of the few decent comic adaptions for film. The last Batman was not bad and of course Tim Burton's was killer. But some of them were awful. League was just terrible, and was redeemed solely by having Stuart Townsend in it. Yum on Stuart.

Oh good song on radio. Ben Harper Get It Like You Like It. I dig this song.

Alrighty, had my almond croissant (also yum) and coffee which must mean it is time for eye strain.

Time Waste Management Indeed

Friday and I am the last one in the office. I am going cross eyed from editing. White paper and fluorescent lights are the devil. At least the regular workday ended on a high note. One of the girls in the office found an online ad for a guy who works here. It was beyond twee. I mean seriously sick up in the back of your throat producing. It was like a horrifying combo of some playboy caricature by Bill Murray crossed with Yanni or something. No! It was like Ian in High Fidelity wrote it! Seriously high smarm factor. But it was pretty damn funny if you know that person.

Personals are amusing. Hell dating is amusing. Not that I am dating. I am too stupid to date. It's that or I am disgusted with men in general, and that just sounds too depressing. It harshes my inner optimist's buzz. Better to be stupid than bitter, no?

But it is true, I do like men. Even with their completely different communication styles and all, I tolerate them far better than women with their chick games. Most of my life, I have had more male friends than women. But god damn it is akin to parting to red sea to find a guy who is decent and responsible. Ex husband....Great job, total asshole. Ex boyfriend....no job, great guy. It's like fuck it, I give up.

And don't get me started on sex. Seriously, from the first guy I ever slept with there was a 15 year gap until I met the last guy. A 15 year period of truly mediocre sex. Made me wonder just how much I had drunk in Europe the first time I jumped on the Love Train.

I guess I just lack the patience to deal with the whole "nobody is perfect" thing. I'm not perfect and I frankly don't expect others to be. But is it TOO much to ask that a guy be a decent human AND have a job? Bleh...I'd rather spend the rest of my life in a Fat Brando phase than deal with another asshole who has a decent job. Or play Mrs. Sugarmama to decent guys who need to grow a pair and get a life.

Now if only I could get my friends and family to accept that. It get the feeling they are into that whole "you complete me" philosophy with regards to relationships. Tell you what, campers. In my experience it is more like "you completely exhaust me."

Sounds bitter, doesn't it :P

She Bangs The Drums

Gah...I so have that song stuck in my head. Not a good sign. Stuck here all day today as penance for yesterday. Kidlet has a sinus thing going. On the plus side, I did get laundry done. I loathe laundry. I'd rather scrub a toilet than deal with the laundry process.

Java needed, cause I am not banging any drums this am.

Evercrack Musings

Man if I could import *1* thing from Everquest it would be my chanters ability to mez annoying mobs. Or people. Or anyone she pretty much felt like. Life would be ever so much more pleasant if I could make idiots freeze and sit there with a dopey look on their face.

Back to work
The Starr formerly known as Starrlight Starrbright.
*sniff*
And she was a fashionplate too!

Born of Frustration

Song of the day...well moment atleast. Greg on 94.7 played that rather than the obligatory James song, Laid. Mind you, I love Laid...but it is good to hear something else for a change o pace. That is me being lazy since I actually have the cd with that song on it. I was just to lazy to dig it out.

Speaking of CD's....what is with the pathetic amount of space they give us on our profiles to list music?!!? Are they on crack? My god...I could use the entire page just to list the artists who's cd's I own, let alone what I like. Gimme more space, dammit!

Alright...personality enhancer aka coffee, is needed. I leave you with these lyrics courtesy of James

All this frustration
I can't meet all my desires
Strange conversation
Self control has just expired
All an illusion
Only in my head you don't exist
Who are you foolin'
Don't need a shrink or an exorcist
Lalalala
lalalala
lalalala
la
Wooooowooooowoooowooo
Show me the movie of who you are and where you're from
Born of frustration
Caught upon the webs you spun
Where's their confusion
A vision of what life is like
Show the movie that doesn't deal in black and white
Talk talk talkin 'bout who's to blame
But all that counts in how to change
Stop stop talkin 'bout who's to blame
When all that counts in how to change
Lalalala
lalalala
lalalala
la
All this frustration
All this frustration
Who put round eyes on a butterfly's wings
All this frustration
All this frustration
Who gave the leopard spots and taught the birds to sing
Born of frustration
Born of frustration
Wooooowooooowoooowooo
Wooooowooooowoooowooo
I'm living in the weeds where nothing is the way it seems
Where no one is who they need to be
Where nothing seems that real to me
'Bout time we filled our lives
Upon the walls of gold no solid ground
The world is spinnin' endlessly
We're clinging to our own beliefs
Born of frustration
Born of frustration

American Swindle

Well it's the end of the season on Idol. Gotta watch of course, even though I could give a rat's ass about either finalist. Probably will vote for Taylor just because I like him the best of the two, and frankly that Katherine beyotch is about as real as a 3 dollar bill. I am still bitter about Bo not winning last year. They made him put out a semi crap album...difference between his music and other peoples music made for him is night and day. Actually the album is not bad, but I am crossing my fingers he gets to have more creative control next time around. I have his bands CD and it is very very good.

Made it to the end of another day, praise god. Oh! And got some good news, I am gonna get to see the Black Crowes with my best friend Hope and another old friend Suzanne. That kicks ass, cause they are a favorite of mine. June 11th and it is outside. Hot damn....prolly rain :P

Seriously uninspired tonight. I swear if the weather changes keep up, I will die of arthritis pain. Bleh

Woot!

Oh thank you lord, I am almost outta here. Of course I won't get to head home for another 4 plus hours, but hey. Outta here is a start. I am so sleepy today. No amount of coffee is helping, either.

Just spent a few surfing the forums over at Interference. Man, U2 fans can be so grumpy! Forums in general crack me up. Not that many people write well, or debate well. Occasionally you come across a gem or two. Current debate is over a snarky comment from Eric Clapton. I dunno, I like what I like, and if other people don't so be it. Just means I don't have to like their crap:P

I Don't Like Mondays

But unlike that chick in England I won't go out and shoot stuff up. Boomtown Rats song or no. Tiring weekend. Worked all day Saturday, vegged all day yesterday and STILL I am tired. I did watch Elizabethtown. Good movie, that. Cameron Crowe does have a way at tweaking the old Gen X psyche. And I love Kirsten Dunst even if she does spell her name wrong :P

So, parent teacher conference this evening. Wonder if the ex will bring his current girlfriend. I like her, she refers to me as "Wifey" which I find funny as fuck for some reason. Mostly, I think, cause when she does, the ex looks so freaked out. This amuses me.

Didn't make it to see the DaVinci Code either. I should probably take the kiddo. I am really waiting on X Men III to come out. Got sucked into Part 2 of Xmen and Blade 2 AND Queen of the Damned this weekend. QotD should, by all rights, piss me off since it is SO far off the actual book. Hell it even changes the way good ole Lestat is made into a vamp. But Stuart Townsend is so ridiculously hot, who cares? Vincent Perez as Marius works for me too. I liked him in that much more than I did The Crow City of Angels. Of course, I was morally opposed to them even making part 2 on that so I really can't hold that against him.

Off for coffee and then on to the tree slaughter.

I Need A Vacation

Well, yesterday certainly sucked. Spent the day in the ER with a co-worker who had pretty much lost it mentally. I got to babysit cause they wouldn't do their jobs! Yay! Fucking nursing staff pretty much left me in there to keep an eye on her while they did god knows what. Funny part is, one of the nurses was one who "took care" of my grandfather last time he was in. I say that with the utmost sarcasm, since they pretty much left him to bleed out in the ER. And I WORK for this company!

And that is merely the tip of the iceberg on the list of reasons I need a vacation. I think the last time I was out of this state and enjoyed myself was Dec of 2003 when we were in Maui. I certainly don't count either my grandmothers funeral in 04 in Utah or the visit we made there 6 months later. Utah does NOT count under any circumstances. It is mere trading in one shitty home state for a former one. And any visit that involves my family back there is not a vacation. I don't give a shit if my godfather has a convenient flask. There is just not enough liquour in the world.

No vacay in the immediate future, though. Just more work. Where I am, not surprisingly, writing this today. Goes without saying as I don't have a computer at home. Haven't much missed it either. Maybe later this summer I will get one. Laptop though, no more being tied to my desk ala the EQ days. I think I have permanent disc damage from that. But for now, I have been loving not having one. I read messageboards that interest me on the weekends if I get the urge and the kidlet can use the computers here to do any schoolwork, or just use her dad's.

Mostly I have been back to reading 6 or so books a week. I missed that during the whole EQ et al phase. If I have to live here another 7 years, at least I can take mental vacations via books.

Maui in 07 looks promising according to Mom. April in Hawaii sounds dandy to me. Hell I'd live there if I could.

And now I must take my leave. The siren call of La Starbucks is getting louder. I am thinking 3 add shots.

...Well I settled for 1 add shot but 2 refills. Must get music going. Sitting here listening to the hum of the vent system is not good. Much better, the mega U2 mix on WMP.

I am so fighting the urge to take a nap. Must enter data, must enter data. Frankly I am also fighting the urge to go to a movie. I want to see The DaVinci Code inspite of all the controversy. Which I find amusing. It's FICTION people. I swear to God the learned Holy Catholic and Apostolic church seems to have forgotten the definition of the word. If their faith is so weak it can be crumbled by a book, they got problems. Faith is faith, people. You either have it or you don't. All this hoopla over something that isn't really even a thought! It's a feeling or a belief, and I just don't think those are formed in our rational mind.

Anyhow...organized religion gives me the heebies. Jesus and God have absolutely no issues with. It's their followers that I think need a restraining order.

The entire world needs a chill pill. But enough on that, it gives me a headache :P
