Abashed The Devil Stood And Felt How Awful Goodness Is

Stole that from the Kidlet, who stole it from The Crow, who stole it from Milton of course =)

Happy Hallows, All!!! My favorite Holiday.

Tomorrow Kidlet will be hosting her Hallows Bash at her dads. I am getting her and her friends and a bunch of cupcakes and then I am going to drop them off. Kidlet has my copy of the crow though. Oh wait!! I have vhs as well! Hot damn.

I had planned on putting up more of Kidlet's pics for Thursday Thirteen but I totally spaced out that we had a fund raising meeting last night. And then this morning we had a repeat on the whole back pain, throwing up routine. This time though Kidlet had some symptoms that could mean a kidney infection. Which she had a shit ton of as a baby and toddler. That said here are a few of em.

And finally I gotta leave you with a song or two for the occasion. First up one of my favorite covers and from The Crow as well - nice tie in, eh?

And of course Ministry -Every Day Is Halloween

And finally a shout out to the coolest of Goth Chicks AND the coolest of Black Cats, Peepers.

Good Bye You Can Keep This Suit Of Lies

Random postage. Loong day. Bleh.

Anyhoo this is rapidly rising in My Top U2 song lists.

One Perfect Partner One Eternal Kiss

Yeah I am ridiculously hooked on this song. I have heard a lot of smack talk from folks like Brandon Flowers of the SHITEOUS band The Killers about who could and should be "the next U2." First off, they ain't done, Brandon. Secondly...it ain't gonna be you tools. Are we human or are we dancers...that is the suck, Brandon.

Now Snow Patrol, I think has potential. I went so far as to call it (keeping in tune with this political season ya know) for Snow Patrol, officially. Told Kidlet I wanted it on record :P

The Cobra Starship concert was fun. The three (!!!!!) opening bands were seven shades of the suck, but CS kicked some ass. Seriously how many second rate Fall Out Boy bands do we need to assuage Pete Wentz's short man syndrome?

The girls had a blast, Kidlet being Kidlet and a hardened concert goer shoved her way up front and dragged Jordyn along for the ride. I hung out up in the balconey to save my knee. And it actually feels better today. Crossing fingers it stays that way!

And now, off to slaughter trees.

Church Of Hot Addiction

Tonight I take Kidlet and Kidlet's BFF to see Cobra Starship in concert. Cause I am a seriously awesome Mom. The Cobra boys, appropriately enough, did the theme song for Snakes On A Plane. Which, by the way, was a frickin hysterical movie. I am leaving work early and taking the two of the to Mickey D's for dinner and then we are heading over. Hopefully the girls will get to meet the band.

That is all. Well mostly. Just a quickie. Worked Saturday, Tiki'd Sunday. Doing 11 today. Tomorrow is volleyball finals and a parents meeting about a trip to Washington DC we are looking to send Kidlet on next summer.

That means long day. No cooking time....Baja Fresh....Fish Tacos!!!

If my mom is reading this she is now jealous. And drooling!

You're Packing A Suitcase For A Place None Of Us Has Been

Howdy all. Kidlet and I survived our super freakin cold weekend. Seriously we were up at 4:45 on Saturday and downtown by 6:30. Forgot our gloves. It was 39 degrees. BRR!!

Kidlet put together tent pole with red streamers on them. Big huge tent poles. All by herself. It was interesting. There were a bunch of folks who showed up to volunteer but were not very proactive. Ya know what I mean? I hate to break it to them but the act of merely showing up does not provide thee with golden karma.

A pre-med kid was in charge of the schematics and he did pretty good but there was a bit too much pondering and not enough action. I gave em a shot and then I kind stepped in to direct. Donna the event coordinator wants me to be her mini me next year. I told her I'd be happy to.

Sunday we got there at 6 and it was a bit warmer. We had to blow up 1500 helium ballons and tie them off. Plus set up the kids sections, get the table clothes out etc etc. By 8 we had fruit and coffee and .....KRISPY KREME! And sprinkles. Of course cause this is Oregon.

The ladies of Darcelle XV showed up and the music started. They were awesome. Got a picture of Kidlet with two of the girls which I will toss up tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday. And then the Sisters of the Perpetual Indulgence from the Order of the Benevolent Bliss arrived. They were a show stopper as usual =)

The opening ceremony was emotional. Michael Kaplan is the new director of Cascade AIDS Project and after he shared his story of finding out he was positive, he asked those in the crowd who were living with HIV and felt comfortable with it to step up and join him on stage. It was just like it has always been. Young kids, older people, gay, straight, black, white and brown. Same as it ever was. The Portland Gay Men's Chorus carried banners with the names of past members who have died of AIDS. I knew some of those names. Needless to say I bawled my head off during the moment of silence.

The the band started up and several thousand people came pouring out Pioneer Square to start the walk behind the band and the chorus. Kidlet and I were the opening and closing route monitors. We were there to welcome folks back when they finished up as well. All in all it was a great day. We got home around 130 and crashed for a hour or so. Kidlet had a great time and she worked her butt off.

The links are still open for those who are donating after the fact. If you run into issues with it let me know. We are not going to meet our goal this year of 350K but it looks like we will go over 300k. Down from last year but in this economy not surprising.

And with that I am off to work! Thanks so much to all who have and are planning to donate. My company will match funds so know that your dollars are doubled!

AIDS Walk 2008

Click Picture To Donate

Yup it's a repeat of sorts. CAP is falling very short of our goal for this year due of course to the economic meltdown. When I say 5 dollars makes a difference I do mean it. If you can give 5 bucks it would mean a lot to a lot of people.

The Walk is one of the major funding sources for Camp Starlight (appropriate, no?) every August. It provides a week long camp at the coast for kids with or impacted by AIDS. Camp Starlight maintains a 1:1 ratio of staff to kids to make sure that all the children have a mentor, a confidant or a shoulder if they need it. $5 dollars can do a lot more than buy a pack of smokes or a gallon and a half of gas or a six pack. You can donate even after the Walk as well. The links should still be available or you can send a check to me and I can add it after the walk.

Please, if you can, do.

Content In The Same Old Schtick Again

Watched the debates, listened to the pundits and the call in "Joe Six Packs" on CSPAN. Churchill was right when he said the best argument against democracy is 5 minutes spent in conversation with a voter.

Been a less than stellar day. Wa Fucking Mu aka FAILURE BANK decide to go ahead with my old rental payment schedule. Even though I CANCELLED IT last week once I found out that the Catholics sent me a paper check. The only reason the fucking account was open with 5 bucks in it was I was unsure when my cancelling of my direct deposit would kick in. So my day started off we me finding that account over drawn. Now I get to spend my lunch tomorrow at the branch office making the back out the fees. Glad I forgot to give mom a check before she left town.

After that it was testing at work. Which I hate. Then Kidlets FUCKED UP GHETTO ASS SCHOOL called me at 230 to say that gosh golly gee they (the office...yes that is right the school administrators) did not find out about tomorrows leadership field trip until today. So they call me at 230 to get a doctor to fax over a note saying Kidlet can self administer her migraine medicine. Guess what? Her doc is not in. DoD (doc of the day for those of you not in health care) was going to send it. But OF COURSE I get a call from the docs office at 440 saying they needed to talk to me asap. I missed the call. Cause I was too busy picking kidlet up from Volleyball. See because she didn't have her shirt, they decided not to let her play.

Mind you, this is an after school parks and rec program. It says right on sign up that it that it is not about competition blah blah blah and perfect attendance is not necessary. NO WHERE in there does it say anything about a shirt or not getting to play if you don't wear it. I used an hour and a half of my vacation time to go to this. Her coach/Lang Art teacher was not happy with me when I said I was taking her home.

FUCK HIM. I paid, you don't communicate the fucking rules, I leave. I am not sitting in a hot fucking gym for an hour watching a bunch of girls I could give two shits about playing half assed volleyball when I am feverish and feeling like shit. Getting all severe about a shirt while not bothering to instill even the basics of VB is asinine. You wanna get all "this is athletics" on me then you make them run laps if they don't call their hits. FUCK YOU.

Then to get that "we need to talk asap" message. That means they can't or won't send it. And if I get in there tomorrow and they try to NOT let Miranda attend this summit because they were SO UNORGANIZED field trips are not communicated I am going to jam my foot up someones ass so fucking far it tickles their tonsils.

And then boys and girls I am getting out the big gun. Then I am gonna call her dad and Woe Unto Those Who Fuck With Intelman.

Just fucking Grr.

Twiddle My Thumbs Just For A Bit

MEGA HUGE YAWN.

It's 5:45 in the bloody AM here so I am allowed. Kidlet was horrified when I told her I was getting in this early. I had to remind her that we have to be in downtown Portland at 6 am next Saturday and Sunday! Trying to pack in as much time as I can cause Kidlet and I have a beach trip upcoming. And this weekend while dining on Nachos and watching The Bucket List (which was amusing, btw. But then when isn't Jack a fuckin hoot?) the parentals used the H word.

Hawaii. This time it would be Kauai. Our cousin owns a lovely house there and let's the family use it when they are not there or renting it out. Mom was there in May/June. Apparently it's be a small very funky art town where chickens and pot bellied pigs roam the streets. That is SO me.

Mom is scoping out places to live. Hope she picks Hawaii. Hell I'd be happy if they sold their place and we sold mine and we ALL moved there. It is the only place I'd move other than to the South. The pot bellied pigs are a big selling point.

My cousin Steph was up yesterday dropping off a party basket for her new at home business. They are room scenters that use highly scented wax that is melted by a low watt bulb rather than flame. I am setting it up at work to see if I can sell some stuff for her. I gotta say they smell dee-vine. She brought me a Sangria one and it is yummy. So we can see if I can put my skills to use for her.

Thoughts on being single. This came up this weekend due to a recent Matt Man post and from the convo with my cousin. Supposedly good relationships require compromise. In my experience she (or he) who does the compromising takes it up the ass unlubed. I don't want to compromise. I don't even want to compromise on the small things. I did that for 30 years and I am staying in a state I loathe for the betterment of my kid. After that I am gonna try selfish for a bit. So for me the only relationship that sounds appealing is one that is completely casual.

Twice married is enough for me and I can not deal with the concept of cohabitation. The idea that someone else was breathing under my roof while I was trying to read or play cards would make me batty :P

Oh goodie, Greg is going to preview the new Oasis album. I so love my radio station =)

Why I Walk

Click Picture To Donate

By now some of you lucky people have received my email begging for cash. AIDS charities are very near and dear to my heart. Some of you have read my older posts from World AIDS Day and know my background with this disease. I totally get that times are tough but seriously, 5 dollars DOES help. If you would like to donate please click on the above picture and it will take you straight to my secure online donation page. And a super big hug to those of you who already have donated =)

Kidlet and I are working Saturday from 6am to 12 doing set up for the walk. Sunday the 12th the day of the walk, we are there starting at 6am again and going until late afternoon first with set up and then as route monitors. Hopefully we won't get too waterlogged!

This weekend is Greek Festival. I am working a split shift tomorrow and taking Kidlet to the festival for lunch and pastry purchases. Sunday I am going to squeeze in about 5 hours. And then we start all over again.

We are thheeeeesss close to go on my project at work. I have a final meeting with my boss next Friday. She just got back from Germany. And come Friday I get to tell her that I have every frickin thing done. Go me =)

Alright folks I am off to eat Pistachio ice cream and watch the boob tube.

You Know You Gotta, Right?

Take Back The City Tonight

Yawn. Yeah I know all I do is bitch about being tired. Cause I am. Yesterday I left the house at 6:15 and got home at 7:30. STILL have this f'in cold courtesy of missy Kidlet. She *kinda* got it on Monday. We stayed home and I made her drink tons of tea and juice and take sudafed. By the next day she was on the Volleyball court with her warpaint on. Me? Today makes day 8! I swear to god colds did not last this long when I smoked. I created such a hostile environment the germs bailed. Now? They summer in me. Such fun.

So tonight we getta watch the Tundra Twat aka Sarah Palin in action. Should be interesting. Hold on folks cause I am going to get political. Any MOTHER who would knowingly subject her knocked up 16 year old daughter to the vicious wit of late night TV, bloggers, Perez Hilton and TMZ just so she could take a job she is COMPLETELY NOT QUALIFIED for is a disgusting excuse for a human. If she was a democrat I'd be disgusted. You just do not throw your kids to the slaughter to feed your ego needs. Not cool.

Plus she is a book banner. Right there I can't stand her. Makes me want to club her with To Kill A Mockingbird whilst cramming pages from Catcher In The Rye down her throat.

And of course the fact that she is a complete and total moron. Tina Fey would be a better vice president. So go Joe.

I am ready to move to a different country. Republics don't last, folks. Never have and anyone who thinks that for whatever reason the USA of immune to the political tides is lying to themselves. America is wonderful in concept, shit in action. Much like unions.

Now don't y'all feel totally enlightened?

Oatmeal. Breakfast ya know.

Snow Patrol has a new album out soon and I am SO loving their new single Take Back The City.
