Somebody Check My Brain

It's Wednesday night, which means So You Think You Can Dance and Glee. It also feels like it should be Friday night. Or Thursday. And I am actually working Overtime this weekend for the first time in ages.

Back to School night was actually not bad. As I expected Kidlet and her friend were semi-there. They showed up during her Leadership class and kind of tailed her dad and I for the remainder of the trip. In between helping lost parents. Including her own :P

You know what sounds really really good? Molten Chocolate Cake. Know what I have to eat for dessert? Sugar free Popsicles. I feel cheated.

Oh guess what?! There is a sneak preview of Whip It this Saturday and Kidlet and I are gonna go. Yay! After I work for 8 hours of course.

OMG. Just figured out I will be out until nearly midnight Friday due to the whole Chaperon thing.

What does one wear to chaperon? Pearls, an A Line and an apron?

Added Kings of Leon - Notion and Alice In Chains - Check My Brain to the New Music list. I wanted to hate AIC. Cause Layne was, well, fucking amazing. This song? Fucking rocks. I suppose after naming my blog for lyrics from The Widow Cobain it was all over for me anyhow :P

Meet Me On The Equinox, Meet Me Halfway

Hey Peeps. So I slacked this week. Still trying to get back into the swing of things. Let's play catch up shall we?

Had the Kidlet and the BFF Saturday night and took them to see Jennifer's Body. Which, I have to say, did not suck like I thought it would. Yes there were plot holes you could drive a truck through but other than that it was actually quite funny. And now everything is salty. And who knew Adam Brody could actually be funny?

Sunday and Monday kidlet had the Stomach Monster issues. But she recovered last night and is happy as a lark today cause I curled her hair on hot rollers and gave her Big 80's Hair. Yes, capitalization is required for that.

Lemme see, what else.

Tonight is back to school night. Her dad is going to pick her up after he gets off work and feed her dinner so that I can make it to the drug store and get her refills and still make the Open House on time. Then we get to do the meet and greet. Which should be interesting since the Leadership people are running it and Kidlet is in Leadership. I get the feeling she is going to ditch her dad and me.

Friday night is the School Community Celebration followed by the first Home game for Football. So going to that. Love watching High School football. Then we have the Welcome Back dance. Again Leadership is running it.

And guess who is going to be a chaperon. Moi. That's like letting the fox guard the chickens but hey :P

Who saw House last night? It was AWESOME. Love that show.

Looking ahead we have the AIDS Walk coming up in less than three weeks. Remember people 5 bucks becomes 10 bucks courtesy of my Employer and every penny counts. Charities are hurting badly this year. There is no donation that is too small =)

My Fellow Halloween Goddess Devilish Southern Belle and I are working on a HUGE Halloween play for Music Savvy Mom. Which you should check out, btw. We are funny and we have stellar taste in tunes and provide you with ready made giant play lists to ease your way through the day.

Speaking of tunes, The New Moon Soundtrack list was announced and other than that Flaming Asshole Brandon Flowers and his shitastic 80's new wave rip off band, I approve. Loving this song =)

It's that time again folks. My personal goal this year is 300 bucks. Due to the economy CAP made 300k LESS in 2008 than they did in 2007. At a time when more and more people are losing health benefits this could not have happened at a worse time. The walk is a good 3 months away. Plenty of time to scrape up 5 or 10 bucks for a worthy cause! And remember, I hold a grudge ;)

Thursday Thirteen - 13 Movies I Am Looking Forward To Seeing

There are some great movies coming out in the next 2 years. Yes, I get excited for movies 2 years in advance. Cause I am a geek like that, mmk?

1. Alice in Wonderland - Kind of goes without saying cause I am a gigantic Tim Burton Fan Girl. Oh yeah...Johnny Depp =)




2. The Hobbit - Parts 1&2. These are not due out until 2011 and 2012. Now I am a big Tolkien fan and I can see why some purists are pissed Del Toro is splitting this into 2 movies. Personally, I am fine and dandy with it. Middle Earth is far to complex for a 2 hours movie. I'd rather have 4 hours of film split in two with excellent pacing. I am really excited about this one as the LOTR trilogy is one of my favorite all time movie experiences. Plus I love Del Toro.



3.The Orphanage - I admit, I am a tad nervous on this one. Still very few details other than it is New Line's project. I ADORE the Spanish version of this movie. Guillermo Del Toro really delivered on this one. It has that quiet creeping sense of dread to it. Plus it was visually beautiful. I have recently become quite fond of Spanish horror movies. I only hope that this remake is at least as good and the Quarantine version of REC. Mind you, REC was still better.



4. Let Me In - A remake of the really wonderful Let The Right One In. In English of course. Interesting how many of my favorite foreign films are being remade in English. While this is technically a vampire story, it's more a love story/revenge tale. With blood. I'd go so far as to call it touching. Yes I would.



5. If all of your dogs just ran barking from the room, it's an indicator that they heard my high pitched mega fan girl "SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" over this next one. Dracula/Dracula Year Zero is a retelling of the Dracula legend that mixes the life of the Real Vlad Tepes with the later Dracula the Vampire. The reason *why* I am excited as hell for this one, other than my natural affinity for the whole vampire genre, is that Alex Proyas is directing. Alex directed both The Crow and Dark City. Two of my all time favorite movies.




6. The Wolfman Oh I am SO there for this one. Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving...this is a Go To The Midnight Opener kinda movie. I love love love the Wolfman legend and Benicio is freakin perfect for this role.




7. Sherlock Holmes - What is Santa bringing me for Christmas this year? This!!




8. The Last Station The final year of Leo Tolstoy's life. Christopher Plummer, Helen Mirren, Paul Giamatti, James McAvoy star in it. I love Tolstoy and his life was as colorful as anything he wrote.



9. The Young Victoria - The first years of Victoria's reign. Emily Blunt, Rupert Friend, and Paul Bettany. My were they complimentary to the Royals!



10. The Men Who Stare At Goats George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, and Kevin Spacey? Sign me the hell up! Here's your summary: "A reporter, trying to lose himself in the romance of war after his marriage fails, gets more than he bargains for when he meets a special forces agent who reveals the existence of a secret, psychic military unit whose goal is to end war as we know it. The founder of the unit has gone missing and the trail leads to another psychic soldier who has distorted the mission to serve his own ends."




11.Boondock Saints II - All Saints Day. OMG, I am dying for this movie. I have only one thing to say. Don't. Fuck. This. Up. Boondock Saints is in my Top 10 cult movies off all time. And Julie Benz is in this and she's badass again! Welcome home, Darla!!



12. The Beautiful and The Damned. This is a biopic of the Fitzgeralds, not an adaption The Beautiful and Damned novel. So far we have Keira Knightley cast as Zelda. Casting for Scott is going to be interesting, maybe Jude Law. I'd say DiCaprio but I am hearing rumbles that Gatsby is going to be remade and Leo is the only one who I want to see play Jay.




And at lucky #13 we have Dark Shadows! Simply put, Johnny Depp as Barnabas. Tim Burton to direct. Do you know this means, children? It means there *is* a heaven and it got a Sisters of Mercy soundtrack, an absinthe bar and lots and lots and lots of cobwebs! I have dreamed about this for 25 years. Dreams really do come true!

Wordless (Kinda) Wednesday - Mail Drive for Afghanistan Soldiers!

Yeah. Not so wordless but for a damn good cause. Hope over at Hope Radio has started up a MP Mail and Donation Drive for soldiers in Afghanistan. Read below the picture how you can help and please click on the above link to let these soldiers know that we care.
