You Can Look But You Can't Touch

Listening to my main Girl Crush, Ms Shirley Manson. Love Garbage. Gwen Steffani/No Doubt suck ass in comparison.

Meeting tonight to get DC itinerary and name tags and hopefully her fundraiser cash. We are in the middle of list making week at Casa Starr. Zip Locked Quart Sized Bags? Check. Multiple 3 once bottles? Check. She gets to check her bags to DC but round trip bag check for each of us to Hawaii is 64 bucks. So carry on it is.

We are going pretty much without any tourist plans. Maybe the horseback ride. Definately Puka Dog and the artist colony. I am looking forward to NOT HAVING A PLAN.

Let's see. I still have not made it to anyone's site. Cause I suck and I have literally NO free time. I get home and crash when I am not juggling Kidlet's schedule here and there. As Desert noted I really need a vacation cause I am hard core dragging ass.

I am writing this on my 15 min break at the office which I am actually taking today. Usually I take about a 20 min lunch and that is it. 4 months behind as of today. Working on February groups. LOL.

Whatever.

I did manage to get most of the songs I wanted on my iPod. Yet another reason I have not been visiting. If I am on my computer I am ripping CD's and building play lists. I still have almost 2 gigs left to fill but I have not yet started on Kidlet's CDs. Which include the Beatles. That is gonna be a chunk. And her Glam bands. OH....and we just got the best of Def Leppard. Gotta have that. So yeah, that has been my free time.

Summer is shaping up fun. Kidlet and I agree that the pinnacles of our year will be Hawaii, Green Day (thanks mom!) and Blink 182. Oh and Weezer. Me loves Weezer.

HEY! My iPod agrees. Just started East Jesus Nowhere by Green Day. It's been very Social Distortion oriented today. Glad it is branching out.

Oh and Weeds tonight!! Love that show =)

Not Another Existential Cowboy And No More California Champagne

TIRED. T.I.R.E.D.

Our weather is mucho fucked up. Friday - Sunday it was over 100. Saturday night we had massive lightning and thunder. Yesterday it was hazy. Today it dropped down to the 70's, we had more lightning and thunder and currently it looks like late October outside. 63 with drizzle and fog.

Mmmk.

I worked Saturday from 7-1 and then got Kidlet and we went over to mom's. My dad's cousin David and his wife Linda were up for two nights. David is the lead singer of the band It's A Beautiful Day. Those of you familiar with the with the San Francisco sound of the 60's will know this one.

We all had way too much food. Mom makes the most kick ass shrimp pasta salad. And fried chicken. And ribs. And potato salad. And berry cobbler. You get my point. After that kidlet and I chilled and watched The Ruins which sucked for the most part. I hate it when the annoying douchebag bimbos are the only ones who live and the characters do things a 2 year old would realize is stupid. It wasn't a good sucky movie if you know what I mean.

Kidlet left yesterday to going camping with her dad and his girlfriend and her family. It's a yearly tradition and the Semi Step is going as well so she is looking forward to it. Of course it is going to pour rain on them but that's the way it goes here in Oregon. She was supposed to be driving up with the Girlfriends sister but the chick took FOREVER to get over there to get her. Seriously her dad and girlfriend left around 2 and Tracy didn't get Kidlet until after 6pm! Her dad was not happy about that. He had not realized she was gonna be stuck in a house that has no Air Conditioning on a 95 degree day with no food.

She called me and I took her over a Subway sandwich and drink and hung out with her for awhile. It was friggin hot in the house so I took her to DQ for a Sunday. Hopefully she is gonna have some fun despite of the weather sucking ass.

Today I did a 10 hour day and I am now relaxing on the couch surfing the net and watching the only man I'd ever marry, Anthony Bourdain. Well I suppose I'd force myself to marry John Cusack as well. But I digress.

Tony is in Spain tonight. Oh my God do I want to go there. It is the one country in Europe I didn't make it to that I would LOVE to visit. Those brown vases up above in the picture? Chocolate eggs. He ate some of the most amazing looking food I have ever seen on this show or any other and I watch a LOT of food porn. The dude in the forest who grills amazing food...Lordy!

Just read an nice little tidbit about Heath Ledger's last film. Which is not The Dark Knight, btw. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is the Terry Gilliam (of Monty Python fame) film which is in fact his final film. They were filming literally a day or so before he died. For a while the fate of the movie was up in the air. But then Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell stepped in. Due to the storyline Heath's character was able to be played by 4 different actors, one for every time period the character is in. The trio of actors will complete the scenes left when Heath died and in the final cut all 4 of them will play the character Tony.

What makes this particularly sweet is the fact that Johnny, Jude and Colin donated all of their salaries to little Matilda Ledger. That's class.

Tomorrow at the office we are having our Sales Admin luncheon. Meaning our boss is taking us out to lunch. Had a meeting with her today and it went well. My project is moving along although I am fairly certain I am not going to be able to hit Go when I am actually able to START it due to needing "buy in" or sign off or other business speak for bureaucracy. But hey, by December or so I might just drag my job description into the 20th (yes I said 20th) century. It's still a clunky process but it is better. And I won't kill so many trees.

And now it is time for Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream and Weeds! Cheese and weed and MILF's, oh my!

I leave you with Harvey Danger and today's post title song, Sad Sweetheart of the Rodeo. Oh and if our Sweetheart looks familiar...It's Ione Skye. Otherwise known as Diane Cort of Say Anything fame. Amazingly enough I manage to reference both her and Cusack in one post. Ione is Donovan's (Mellow Yellow man) daughter, she was married to Adrock of the Beasties, lived with Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and is now married to Ben Lee. And for your final piece of pointless music trivia, my most favorite DJ, Greg Glover was the producer of Harvey Danger's first album which included the song Flagpole Sitta. Go Greg!

Must. Have. Minty. Ice. Cream.

My New Favorite Line

"You are fucked like a stray dog in Chinatown." - Celia's Public Defender on Weeds.

Nancy can pee in an empty plastic cup just like I can! I love Nancy. I mean she is an amoral selfish bitch with the mothering instincts of a wolverine, but highly entertaining.

So got Fios and after a mega cluster with the install of the outside lines it was a piece of cake with the actual install. The new remote control is outsmarting me which is highly insulting and a bit demeaning. I need Matt-Man to come over and whip the bitch into Ann Margaret shape. Matty, bring Schmoop we can drunken YouTube.

I still have a sinus headache cause the cottonwood is massivly blooming. It looks like snow outside. So the allergies suck and I feel like I have been punched in the eyes. It had me up most of Sunday night. Not fun. It's getting close to Seattle trip time and I am excited. Been hearing great reviews of George's concerts in Rolling Stone and online. It should be fun =)

Ok new guilty pleasure. Secret Diary of A Call Girl -Showtime of course. Billie Piper is adorable as Belle. She makes the short list on team switch candidates. I swear Showtime is the best television on television.

O Muse! Sing In Me, And Through Me Tell The Story

Ok we actually had a LOVELY weekend here in the PacNW. For a change. We might get a summer this year after all. I did not work. I was bad. I got mom and we went down to Adelman Peony Farm. I now have a MASSIVE bouquet of peonies....22 on my mantle and a single by my bedside. They are staying open an extra weekend and I am gonna drag Kidlet down next weekend for a refill and more pictures. Mom took a bunch. Isn't this amazing?! Look for pictures for Wordless Wednesday this week.

Damn I love The Verve. Yet another band that owns Chris Martin's scrawny chicken ass. Speaking of that, much love to the 25 different folks who landed here via web searching "Chris Martin is a twat." Great minds, people, great minds.

*Hugs* Richard Ashcroft.

Sunday I did laundry and made my addictive pasta and fought off a migraine ALL DAY LONG. Still semi had it yesterday and then to make matters worse I got up super early and accidentally took BOTH of my Metformin (diabetic meds) in the morning instead of 1 in the morning and 1 at night. Oops. Felt spaced out all day long. Kidlet spent the day with with her grandmother so we had dinner over there and gave my dad his Father's Day card.

Got home last night and was greeted by the single most pretentious sight I have ever seen, aka Chris Twatin on the cover of Rolling Stone. He gets his ROLLING STONE- THE INTERVIEW. But not by Jann Werner, I noticed. What was the last Rolling Stone Interview Jann did? What's that you say? BONO?! Ooooh.....didn't quite rate the big guy did ya Chris :P

Look at this - In case you are wondering he is dressed in this ridiculous outfit in a nod to the Delacroix painting on the cover of the CD, cause they SOOO intelligent y'all and SOOO arty and SOOO deep.

Now what made up for this site was the fact that kidlet and I defaced it pretty badly which was juvenile and satisfying at the same time. In addition there was a nice article about David Cook in the magazine and a much nicer picture to look at.

Once our RS vandalism was over, Kidlet and I settled in for Weeds!!!!! And it was GOOD. Albert Brooks is guest starring this season and Jonah and Andy's dad and he was hysterical. Nancy is looking like Running for the Boarder is gonna be her new day job and Celia is in the weeds so to speak. Excellent start to the season and I love the kid who plays Shane. And Kevin Nealon and Justin Kirk need Emmy's for this show.

There's A Green One And A Blue One

OH HELL YES!!!

It just dawned on me that Weeds Season 4 starts Monday night! HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY! Weeds and Dexter are the best thing on TV. Now then if you have not watched Weeds (what the fuck is wrong with you?!) you MUST MUST MUST head to a video store or Netflix and get season 1-3 now. Still sitting there going "yeah yeah Starr sure whatever?" Well bite me and watch the following. Oh and if your are easily offended, blah blah blah, go away :P

She's A Witch Of Trouble In Electric Blue

Lordy I am not into Mondays.

WTF is Star Reynolds doing on House Hunters?!

Sorry...that just threw me for a loop. So anyhow...Mondays. Bleh. Suckage. Pissy. Dropped Kidlet off at school and then got to enjoy a fabulous commute populated with dill wads who have completely forgotten how to drive in rain. And they chose to decompensate in front of me. Joy!

And then ...work.

Gotta win the lottery. Gotta buy a ticket first. Yeah.

Hit the store on my way home from work and then got home and decided I wanted fried eggs and toast for dinner. So that is what I had. Watched Weeds as it was conveniently on at 7 (?!) tonight. That is a perk of having like 10 Showtime channels available! Season 3 is pretty darn good so far. Even the Olson twin is pretty good. And so far Season 2 of Dexter is kicking major ass. Dexter is easily my favorite show on TV. It just squeaks out Weeds. I am actually digging the plot device on Weeds that added Peter's ex wife. At first I was sceptical. But the mammogram scene won me over. And Dexter's addiction problem? Awesome! I was wondering what the plan would be on Dexter as they used the first two books for Season 1 and the third book was not out yet. So far, their original plots have been great. Showtime is, hands down, the best television out there.

Kidlet and I are reading Anne Rice's Witching Hour and doing a book club. It's kinda fun to get her take on things. Of course we have to stop reading and go look stuff up when we are unclear on the the history of something. Like Electroencephalograms.

Yes we are weird.

They're All Made Out Of Ticky Tacky And They All Look Just The Same

Sunburns suck.

Apparently I managed to fry the back of my neck Saturday while doing all of that planting. And the chain I have my cross on is not exactly lightweight or smooth.

...Mazzy Star....grr.

Sorry but I feel the need to record just how much this song likes to stalk me. I mean damn! What next, Dido?

So anyhow, my digression is done. Got to the office early. And it was cold! Yesterday and Saturday? Hot. Well Saturday it was more along the lines of airless. Yesterday was hot though. And it is only gonna get better. Supposed to be 100+ by Wednesday. It is gonna be a hot one for the Social D concert.

Waiting for more Weeds

I got sucked into Weeds this weekend. I missed a few of each season so I went back to catch up. Ended up watching all of seasons one and nearly all of season two. Which now I have to finish. Such a great show. I would keep cable just for Showtime. What with The Tudors and Dexter and Weeds, it is the best tv on tv. If you do not have Showtime, you must rent Season 1 and 2 of Weeds. Funniest show I have seen in ages.

The more I ponder the above referenced Social D concert the more I think we will be going to the beach and staying over on Saturday. It was such a gorgeous drive I took on Saturday....it's official, just booked a room for Saturday night in Depoe Bay. We can spend a nice weekend driving to Depoe Bay and hanging out at the beach and then head back up Hwy 101 and take Hwy 6 home. That will be fun!

I love to drive. It is my therapy. That is why next summer's road trip is going to be doable. Spendy but doable. I am looking forward to that!

Alrighty. Time for more java.

Starr out..
