TT #44 - I Can Sing My Song Again
Today I bring you Thirteen very special songs. Call it "mood" music if you will. Certain songs that would be my choice for certain real life and purely imaginary situations. These would be my choices!
1. My current Karaoke Rock Goddess Wish I Was Pat Benetar sing along whilst driving,
Axium - Callout.
2. If your mama here ever went the pole dancer route this would so be my song as it is seriously tasty funk. White Zombie - Boogie Man
3. I love to cook. It's like therapy for me and I have a particular weakness for French and Italian food. Which must be why my favorite music to cook by comes from an Irishman. Van Morrison - Into The Mystic
4. Road Rage. Who hasn't felt it? And when you are on the road and pondering if life in jail would really be *that* bad, nothing beats Korn - Twisted Transistor.
5. Sometimes I just feel a little like I missed 60B and get myself into a funk. When that happens it is time to wallow with I Nine -Same In Any Language
6. My all time favorite stare at a tropical ocean view song is, hands down, Moby - Porcelain.
7. I can lower my blood pressure and calm down from virtually any irritant by listening to The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony
8. But sometimes I don't want to calm down. Sometimes humanity just plain pisses me off. For those days I go with Get Set Go - Die Motherfucker Die. (It's a pretty little song in actuality!)
9. To fall asleep there is nothing better than Enya in general and Orinoco Flow in particular. This was kidlet's bedtime music from birth to 8. And since I have not ripped Enya to my computer yet, YouTube to the rescue!
10. What do I wake up to everyday? Well my cell phone is my alarm and every morning I wake up to The Bononator telling me it will be A Beautiful Day - U2
11. Now the burning question in everyone's mind is "What does Starr, vintage goth that she is, most like to wear black to?" Trick question since I wear black virtually every day. But for our special occasions only the sisters will do, Sisters of Mercy -Temple of Love the 1992 Remix featuring Ofra Hazra.
12. What music do I like to break up to? There's a deep questions. Now I have been through my share of breakups and I can honestly say Sheryl Crow's The Globe Session album covers it all. Sheryl Crow - It Don't Hurt live featuring The Dixie Chicks.

Children By The Millions Sing For Alex Chilton
Rush was the win. Seriously the win. We froze our asses off, cause in Whoregon and it's kissing cousin Washedouton June 1st means 50 degrees by 7 and rain. Woot! Festival weather man!
Neil Peart did his uber drum solo and Kidlet and I suspect he is not human. He is the bionic drummer. There is a very good reason he leads virtual every list of best drummer. Cause he is.
I was blessed by the Baby Jesus and did not run into my past last night. In my mind I am still 23 and he is still 25. And I aim to keep it that way.
I am suffering from Post Idol Let Down syndrome. Reruns blow. House and Bones? Rerun. Thank God Weeds starts soon!
And now on to the "Hey, this shit is on my playlist!" portion of our post. A random sampling of my way back play back list.
The Replacements- Alex Chilton. There are a few of us Gen Xer's on the fangirl boards that totally want DC to go here. Yeah I said it. So any diehard Gen X poster children for snobbery can bite me :P
The Lemonheads - It's A Shame About Ray. More like it's a shame about Evan. Dude..Heroin is so....well, see the video after yours.
The Dandy Warhols - Not If Your Were The Last Junkie. Local band and Courtney Taylor Taylor blows Evan out of the water on the cuteness scale. Kidlets Favorite Dandy's song! Oh they are playing at the Roseland this month.....
Sugar - If I Can't Change Your Mind. The Book End of Minnesota Bands that matter that began with The Replacements. Well, Bob Mould via Husker Du. LOVE this song to death!

It Seems To Me I Could Live My Life A Lot Better Than I Think I Am
YAY Rush in concert!! So very happy. The weather, of course, sucks ass. (Warning children, mommy is going to be swearing today.)It's June first in Whoregon so ya just know it has to be 50 fucking degrees and raining. Yay!
Concert is outdoors at the the Clark County Amphitheater. Kidlet and I have covered seats, thank goodness. Somehow I managed to miss seeing Rush in the 80's. I am somewhat of an anomaly in that there are not too many women out there who like Rush. Or Prog Metal. But then again I had some seriously weird taste in music in highschool. Steely Dan to Sex Pistols to Duran Duran. In high school it was pretty much me and a few metal chicks who liked Rush. Prog Rock is not a big draw for the laydays. Idiots :P
I don't like all prog rock, mind you. Like Yes. I fucking hate Yes. I want to crush Roger under my foot like a little insect. Had to listen to them a lot too as the guys were into them. Don't care much for Alan Parsons Project either. He shot his wad producing Floyd. And Floyd may be called "progressive" or "art" rock by some, but in my world they are in a class by themselves.
But I have many many fond memories of with Rush as the soundtrack. Plus from reading other concert set lists it would appear they are doing 2112 overture and Priests! Hot Dayum! Found the setlist on line and man is this going to be a looong concert:

From the streets of Eugene Oregon where we would terrorize folks with water filled fire extinguishers while cruising in a Dodge Duster or Buick Regal to the deck of ship going from Brindisi, Italy to Patras, Greece the Gedster and Company figure in. Listening to it now is very much flashback city. -Side note, never spray the daughter of a judge right in the ass crack while she is on a bicycle with a high pressure water device. Judges are cranky!
Oddly enough I would not choose to be teen again, but I would rank 1985 as probably one of my all time favorite years. Especially that summer. That was the summer I spent in Europe and it was the summer before Todd went to college and everything got fucked up. So yeah, it ranks as one of those special years. There were good times after that but the drama involved was unfortunately a bit too real rather than "real world" if you get my drift. That said, I hope to hell that a certain someone does NOT spot me tonight. Somethings are better left unsaid.
Dammit, now I gotta buy Hall and Oates :P
