Fuck You, Fuck You Very Much

I mini ranted about this on Facebook but GOOD GAWD DAMN...parents who make promises to their children, that impact OTHER kids and their parents, and then bail on them SUCK ASS.

Oh and for the record not my Ex Husband. He's fine. This is a Kidlet Friend parent. Actually he is not her friend he is her bitch. See he wishes he was her boyfriend but that ain't flying in my house at the age of 14. So she told him he can't be her boyfriend, but he can be her bitch. He wisely agreed to this.

I raised her right, didn't I ladies?

Anyhow, his mom bailed on driving plans yesterday. I had to give up my lunch hour to play driver and then haul ass to the theater after work to get everyone and drive them home. I figured it is not the poor kids fault his mother is a douche-bag. Probably needed a mani-pedi/gorilla bush wax or some such shit.

*rolls eyes*

Anyhow. At work. Still behind. Finishing up April right now. Sigh. Sad part is I think that if I were allowed to work overtime for just a couple of months I could catch us up to the point where only one line of business was maybe one month behind. Rather than 4. Whatever.

Oh we are moving to a new office next year. For those of you familiar with Portland, I live in Hillboro. New office is by Prov Portland across the freakin river in North East. Can you say commute from hell? Cause I can. No more around the corner from Kidlet's dad's place for easy pick ups. On the plus side, my drive home will take me by Hot Lips Pizza which I have dearly missed. I dream of the I Learned It In Brooklyn pie on a regular basis.

Oh side note, VE has spoofed my blog! Head on over to check him out.

Alright coffee is ready and Cherry Darling is charged.

That's my iPod you perverts.

I leave you with my dedication to Douche Bag Parents everywhere.

The Comment That Became A Post

This really did start as a reply to the comments left on the Lost In Time Lost In Space post below. It got big and I said WTF, let's just make a post. Hold on boys and girls I am going to get political on your ass.

First off, to L5 - OOOH Bi-Partisan Tongue! There's a change we should all believe in ;)

RWA- I actually agree with the contradiction of the government doing more (or at least better) and the citizen doing more.

I think the government does need to do more for us. Like fix our roads, get us decent and affordable health care, rebuild the work force of this country so we can all go back to buying America, FIX THE DAMN SCHOOLS, balance the budget that Bush is leaving in a freak mess.

Oh and get out of Iraq... but do it in the honorable way. No sneaking out off of embassy rooftops. We went in there, turned that country upside down and made a hell of a mess for a lot of innocent people. And yeah I know we had help from the Iraqi military and police. But we are, after all the USA and we did, after all, go in there in spite of world wide concern. I just don't think we can say "oohh..this sucks bring the troops home now" and abandon those people over there who really DO want a chance at democracy. The biggest issue with this war is the half assed way we fought it. If you are going to do something do it well. If we fought WWII like this we'd all be goose-stepping.

These reasons are why I pay taxes. I don't mind paying, but I want some value on my return. Now for the good (lazy, self involved, SHIT PARENTS) people of this country:

What I DON'T think the government should do is continue to up benefits to women that act like brood mares. Cap that at 3 kids. If you are on Welfare and you continue to pop them out you should not be rewarded for you lack of control both personal and birth.

Spend some of that money instead on creating a state run child care systems so they can not use that as an excuse and they can get off their damn cell phones, turn off the sat TV and GET A DAMN JOB. And those families who don't practice birth control for religious reasons? Can't afford your Godly sanctioned 8 child family? Start praying for God to feed you. Separation of Church and State, people. You PAY for your own beliefs, not me.

Like I said, I am either a Liberal Republican or and Conservative Democrat, I have yet to figure it out. Pro Death penalty but Pro Gun Control. To a degree. Joe Bob Average has no need for an assault weapon and those of us who own guns for legitimate purposes should not mind a background check or two. But outlawing ALL gun owner ship? Hell no you don't. The day the government holds all the arms is the day I move.

Global warming. We could argue the points ad nauseum. But I think we can all agree that our treatment of the planet sucks. It's a symptom of the disease we have in this country I like to call "I Gotta Have It NOW" syndrome. So much stuff, so many empty spaces with in the people who have all that stuff. As Bono puts it, Lookin for to fill them God shaped holes. That blackberry won't chase away your 3 am boogie monster and the gluttony of consumption and immediate gratification leads to a total lack of personal responsibility in my mind.

Pro-Choice and Pro Gay rights cause I have a uterus and a brain thank you very much and this country being founded on religious freedom means MY right to not give a shit what your version of God thinks of Gays or abortion.

Illegal immigrants. If I had my way, they'd all get the hell out. Not practical I know, like closing the door to the barn when the horse is already out. But still. My family came here the legit way, they learned the language and became Americans. We are still rich in our Greek and Scandinavian cultures but WE SPEAK FRICKIN ENGLISH. I agree that the immigration process is a mess, it's the government of COURSE it is. But the key word in the phrase is ILLEGAL.

Now all the farmers who complain about not having labor...you mean CHEAP labor. Pay a decent amount and people will work for you. On the flip side, all you asshats walking around thinking you are too good for manual labor, I vote we STOP giving you assistance. Learn to sweat or starve. Bring back the work house. You work you eat.

I do realize that many of the homeless are mentally ill and/or vets. This is where the government needs to start using my taxes a bit better. And the states need to step up their responsibilty. I am down with States Rights. Always have been.

So yeah, I suppose I am a bit of both. I think we need a basic common sense party. I am to the point where I am ready to register Independent. I believe in a hand up not a hand out and I believe everyone in this country needs to get out of their little "ME" cocoons and start realizing we have a social contract with each other and our society.

With that rant I leave you to go find coffee. Kidlet and I had a fabulous night last night at Cascade AIDS Project and we are both really looking forward to our volunteer work there.

Cause I Hate Everything About You

As you probably have guessed, I am feeling a might bit cranky this am. Aside from the severe state of way behindness at the office, I may plotz from having to deal with the public.

Yes the drivers, who are always complete idiots. That is another rant entirely. No today there is one specific class of hum-annoy that I would like to comment on.

The Starbuck's customer.

Oh how I hate thee, let me count the ways. First off, it should be known right up front that while I may indeed be a Starbucks addict, I drink coffee flavored coffee. No half caf, decaf, sugar free, soy, gluten intolerant, light foam, with a twist shit for me. Give me a cup of friggin coffee with some room for cream and get out of my way.

But these people! If you are so high maintenance that your coffee has more syllables involved than Homers' Iliad could you atleast rehearse that shit ahead of time?! Not keep adding shit on after they have set your already heavily graffiti'd cup on the bar?!

While you are at it, could you ask if your morning muffin has nuts in it BEFORE you buy it? Rather than interrupting me in the middle of my order (which is of course a paragon of brevity) to blurt out, "oh! Is there peanut oil in this?!" If you suspect that you have ingested it, please crawl off quietly into a corner and either blackberry your ass some help or croak. I don't care. Just stay out of my way, you had your turn.

And speaking of turns, let's talk about the old condiment bar. You know, where the sugars and creamers are. If you are getting a Half caf, vanilla, low fat, sugar free, half soy half breast milk (give it time) grande extra hot extra foam latte, why the hell do you need to be standing right in front of the condiment bar?! That is for normal uncomplicated folken who can make it through life with a friggin cup of coffee. Grr.

Even worse are the "I am the center of the universe" yuppies who have forgotten everything they ever learned in kindergarten about waiting their turn. I had one of those today (I live in Intel Land) and the ass very nearly knocked over my cup of coffee reaching OVER my should to get sugar. For the curious, yes he was on his cell phone. Our Starbucks is pretty small and there is room for only one at a time there. As I just add cream to a cup of coffee, it is not like I am moving in and preparing to redecorate. But obviously, this ass felt he was ever so much more important.

Bet he loved it when he "accidently" bumped my arm a second time and I soaked his Italian loafer with hot coffee :P

Ah, it's good to be a bitch some days =)

We're Just Spinning On Some Granite That We Like To Call A Planet

I was watching Larry King Live last night with Oprah and Friends on it talking about life, spirituality etc etc. My attention was caught by one particular topic. That is if you are pessimistic or optimistic when it comes to viewing the world today.

The party line for the most part was "Hey I have an intellect, of course I am pessimistic." Looking at the world today, it is damn hard to argue against that. Our government is a disaster and that goes for both sides of the aisle. Our environment is hosed. Our people are angry, marginalized, tired, or, worse, forgotten completely (Katrina, anyone?)

Then the spiritual side of the coin was flipped and I have to say it really spoke to me. How can you NOT be optimistic when people are actually engaged in this type of discussion? How can you not be optimistic when you look around and see that yes, there are problems everywhere, BUT...people are talking about them. What is more, people are doing something about them. But more need to become involved. By more, I do mean you :P

I hear people say that poverty, AIDS, Darfur, and the environment are just too big for one person to fix. They are right, of course, but they miss the point. Each time one person signs a petition, or donates to a charity, or writes their congressman, they become one of many. THAT is where change comes from. Ignoring that fact is just a cop out.

Which brings up charity in general and peoples attitudes in particular. I find it funny that people get all irate at folks like Oprah, or Sean Penn in New Orleans, or Bono. It's almost as though they are PISSED off that these celebs have the power and money to make such grand gestures. The root of that, of course, is jealousy. But to denigrate the causes these celebs champion or their contributions to them is disgusting! It's the "Me Generation" concepts at it's very worst. It's like not watching shows such as An Inconvenient Truth because it is too much work to try to change or "When The Levees Broke" cause it is too depressing. I shit you not, I have heard people say that. I'm sorry but when people live through that, the least you can do is watch and never forget, and work to make sure it never happens again.

I am not rich. I pretty much pay for everything kidlet needs up front and get pay back from her dad when and if I ask 50 million times. But I am so much better off that so many other people. I give blood, I donate to soup kitchens several times a year, I give to the Katrina and Tsunami funds to this day, and I donate time and effort on the Charity Auction here at work. I never, ever walk by a salvation army red bucket without tossing in a dollar. Every time from Thanksgiving on to the New Year. That one dollar is not going to make or break me. It may make or break someone else.

That's my whole point. It does not take grand gestures. It does not even take a ton of money. All it takes is your voice. Pick something that matters to you and tell someone that it does!

Kitty On My Foot And I Wanna Touch It

Well Pirates of the Carib was very good. Good enough to make the hours we spent sitting on the theater floor in line worth it. Seriously, we got there at 2:15 and the 3 show was sold out. Got tickets for 3:50 and had to get in line to get into that at 2:30. Fortunately Mia and I had spent the morning at Barnes and Nobles so we had reading material to go around.

Wanna hear fucked? Got home last night and the AC was not a working. And the inspector came out today and it didn't pass code! Mom was there all day for the rest of the 1 year warranty work and is still there waiting for the gonad who was on call last night and never called her to get there. She was told 3:45 and when she called to check, they said that was really a "3 hour window" for arrival. As in he could be there as late as 6:45. What a crock of shit that is!

Anyhow I am sitting here trying not to kill my computer. Well the print server that creates my document, I should say. A more unreliable program may exist out there, but I highly doubt it.

Kidlet is camping with her dad. Went up to Detroit Lake yesterday and is there until Saturday. I am taking her extra on Monday since it will have been a 6 day stretch for him.

Oh and I have a lovely summer cold. Whoo hoo.

I Need A Vacation

Well, yesterday certainly sucked. Spent the day in the ER with a co-worker who had pretty much lost it mentally. I got to babysit cause they wouldn't do their jobs! Yay! Fucking nursing staff pretty much left me in there to keep an eye on her while they did god knows what. Funny part is, one of the nurses was one who "took care" of my grandfather last time he was in. I say that with the utmost sarcasm, since they pretty much left him to bleed out in the ER. And I WORK for this company!

And that is merely the tip of the iceberg on the list of reasons I need a vacation. I think the last time I was out of this state and enjoyed myself was Dec of 2003 when we were in Maui. I certainly don't count either my grandmothers funeral in 04 in Utah or the visit we made there 6 months later. Utah does NOT count under any circumstances. It is mere trading in one shitty home state for a former one. And any visit that involves my family back there is not a vacation. I don't give a shit if my godfather has a convenient flask. There is just not enough liquour in the world.

No vacay in the immediate future, though. Just more work. Where I am, not surprisingly, writing this today. Goes without saying as I don't have a computer at home. Haven't much missed it either. Maybe later this summer I will get one. Laptop though, no more being tied to my desk ala the EQ days. I think I have permanent disc damage from that. But for now, I have been loving not having one. I read messageboards that interest me on the weekends if I get the urge and the kidlet can use the computers here to do any schoolwork, or just use her dad's.

Mostly I have been back to reading 6 or so books a week. I missed that during the whole EQ et al phase. If I have to live here another 7 years, at least I can take mental vacations via books.

Maui in 07 looks promising according to Mom. April in Hawaii sounds dandy to me. Hell I'd live there if I could.

And now I must take my leave. The siren call of La Starbucks is getting louder. I am thinking 3 add shots.

...Well I settled for 1 add shot but 2 refills. Must get music going. Sitting here listening to the hum of the vent system is not good. Much better, the mega U2 mix on WMP.

I am so fighting the urge to take a nap. Must enter data, must enter data. Frankly I am also fighting the urge to go to a movie. I want to see The DaVinci Code inspite of all the controversy. Which I find amusing. It's FICTION people. I swear to God the learned Holy Catholic and Apostolic church seems to have forgotten the definition of the word. If their faith is so weak it can be crumbled by a book, they got problems. Faith is faith, people. You either have it or you don't. All this hoopla over something that isn't really even a thought! It's a feeling or a belief, and I just don't think those are formed in our rational mind.

Anyhow...organized religion gives me the heebies. Jesus and God have absolutely no issues with. It's their followers that I think need a restraining order.

The entire world needs a chill pill. But enough on that, it gives me a headache :P
