So one of best music stores known to man is in danger of going under. Music Millennium is a local landmark and a seriously cool place to hang out. It's a music store the way they used to be. I am roughly 1 month older than Music Millennium and I have been a customer since 1988. So when the call went out on the news and on KNRK that they were in serious trouble and in danger of closing their doors, well that was just not something I could accept.
Kidlet and I went last night and I got my New Radicals album and Kidlet was overjoyed to spend her allowance. Her find of the night was a used copy of the original London Theatrical cast soundtrack of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Lemme tell you that is WAY different from the movie. Cool, but kinda like Hair meets Rocky. Tim Curry is Tim Curry but Magenta is not done ala Marlene Dietrich. Which is seriously messing with me.
If any of you are looking for hard to find or imports, I highly recommend you check them out and shop online. It's the Rock thing to do =)
So Sunday is my 40th. Whoohoo. Actualy my 30's were pretty fucked up all in all and I am happy to get them gone. Maybe not fucked up but not anything I'd care to repeat. Too much drama. Sunday I am going to get Kidlet from her Dad and then head to moms house where I get to take a bubble bath in the jacuzzi and then have a fried chicken and mash potato dinner followed by Coconut Cheesecake. And I get my presents. I broke down and actually asked for a present that cost money. Like actual money. Usually I ask for socks and hangers and household stuff. This year I went iPod. (RED) of course cause I wouldn't wanna piss off Bono.
So music time! I feeling The Gallagher Boys tonight. My dad digs Oasis! So I need to make him a copy of the best of that I have. In the meantime here are two of my favorites.

It's sad, so many music stores are going out of business. Tower Records, which has been in my area for ever closed recently. :(

I can never get TOO much Oasis. But you know that. I thought turning forty was very cool. And your perspective is about right. Plus, I think we have somethings in common. I don't every think either of us will be old. We are way too connected with music, film and adventure! Happy Happy, but I will return tomorrow for the official one...
It's tough on a real music store like that these days. I hope they can stick it out.

Jessica and Travis - It's awfully sad to see landmarks close. MM is not even a chain like Tower. Our Tower records closed like 7 years ago. Thank god we still have Everyday Music as well.
Bud - Oasis is awesome! I am a huge Blur fan too. I think you nailed it. I am way into new music and movies etc. Speaking of, Kidlet and I are gonna go see Fall Out Boy and Cobra Starship. They have a new album coming out soon, btw.
I am gonna be 80 and going to concerts. I look forward to having a cane *wicked grin*
Southern - Oh lemme tell you. I have a list of individual songs I wanna download. Then I need to sit down with my cd's and Kidlet's cd's and see what HAS to be ripped asap. The scary part? There are probably 100+ cd's I need to rip still. I need to get an external drive to store these on.

New Orleans, a town known for music has just about the worst music store selection around. Thank God for Louisiana Music Factory, which is a great place for local music, not so much for anything else. At least when Tower and Virgin was here you could find just about anything between the two. Now it's slim pickings.
